No Lock awesomizes Tab - Galaxy Tab Themes and Apps

For real. I just discovered the beauty of No Lock, which in conjunction with a case and a fullscreen launcher brings froyo a little closer to tablet heaven.
It just removes the lock screen, meaning 1. you can bring it straight out of sleep with the power button and 2. you will not have to see the moment when your launcher removes the taskbar.
If only we could get rid of the row with the dock alltogether, then froyo would almost be a tablet os!

Thx, good tipp!

No Lock is awesome. It gives you the choice of either enabling lock or no lock. If you choose no lock, then you only need to press the power button to use the phone. You dont have to slide to unlock it. Sweet!!

Also "Screen lock suppressor" works..

funny how a little thing like that will immediately change the feel of using a device... its pure gold until we are able to cook custom roms

I stopped using it on my Milestone a long time ago, never tried it on my Galaxy S (and I actually like the Galaxy S lock screen).
Reason I stopped using it on the Milestone is that it had a tendency to cause excessive battery drain. Hopefully the author has addressed this.

uses absolutely no battery on my tab...

Maybe your Milestone was always powered on?
Never heard of that problem.

I hate the fact that when using nolock the phone power up even when pressing the volume buttons...

yes, the volume buttons cannot be disabled - its a limitation of 2.2 as far as i know
nevertheless, i never hit them by mistake...

Odd behavior with lock screen...

This is more of a question then a problem. I am running Vegan but have also seen this behavior when I was running TnT Lite. When I boot my G-Tab I seem to randomly get two different lock screen's. Sometimes I get what I call the "iPhone" lick screen that looks like an iPhone. It's in portrait aspect and has a slider the if you hold the G-Tab in landscape must be moved from top left to bottom left. (Note that it's sideways when you hold the G-Tab in landscape)
The other lock is the Vegan lock where it's 2/3 of the way to the right side when holding the unit in Landscape aspect. It's got a lock slider on the bottom that must be pulled up toward another button the looks like a speaker.
It's not really a problem to unlock the G-Tab either way, but it has me curious since it seems random which one you will get each time you boot. It's even more off that I get this on both Vegan and TnT Lite.
Any Thoughts?
Hi kmclaren,
I'm sorry that no one responded to your post. I am also using Vegan, and also wondering about the screen lock slider. Actually, I don't need that feature, and I'm trying to find out how to disable the screen lock, so that I don't need to do the slide motion.
I believe there is a program called "nolock" that will eliminate the lock screen

Notification Shade Recent Apps

I think I know the answer....but I am hoping someone knows if there is a way to turn this off. It's so big. Hate it. As far as I can tell...its not optional.

Nope, can't turn it off.
not yet, give it time for the framework to be ripped apart. root and s-off have just arrived, patience
Agreed that it's a bit large, but I actually like the feature.
My biggest complaint with the TB (other than TFT vs SAMOLED screen) is the placement/arrangement of the capacitive menu buttons at the bottom of the screen. I don't have tiny hands, but they're not particular big either, so the size of the phone and the placement of the Home button make it just about impossible for me to use the phone with just one hand like I do my 4" phones. My thumb just can't reach the Home button when holding it in my right hand without risking dropping it, so it's difficult to do the long press to get the recent apps screen up. I can comfortably drop the shade and select from there, though, so I like it. Obviously a YMMV thing, and accessing the Home screens still takes two hands for me.
yeah, the recently used apps in the notification bar was poorly thought out. It's redundant as holding the home button does the same thing and isn't needed. If they were going to put anything up there, it should've been the quick toggles like the Galaxy S line of devices.
Yes...I also miss the quick toggle from Cyan....I still find myself pulling down the shade only to realize its not there.
And I miss being able to dismiss notification with a sideways swipe.....A LOT!

Check out Widgetsoid. It does what you want but takes a bit of setup
Couldn't you just use a different launcher like ADW? Or is it built into the framework? If so, what a turn off.

[Q] HOME without touching the hardware button?

DroidX, rooted, stock ROM
I came from a rooted Incredible with soft buttons, and dislike the hardware buttons on the X. I installed the brilliant Swipepad, which handles many of the issues, but still haven't found a convenient way to get HOME without that button.
MENU and RETURN would also be nice.
Is there a way to do that?
Lucky You Try Button Savior.. I've been using it for 6 months and it's great, Has menu, screen off, home and others

You could probably look for a soft keys app. There's a few out there.

Installed Button Savior and tried various config options, but can't seem to get the trigger to show on my Droid X screen. ???
If you run CM7, you could turn on 'Tablet Tweaks'. It adds honeycomb style home/back/menu to the notification bar (and lets you move it to the bottom rather than the top if desired).
after you install you need to open the app, and go over the settings. Then the trigger pops up

I am running CM7 on my Droid x and my galaxy tab... settings are there on my tab but the tablet tweaks aren't all there on my Droid x, only status bar on bottom option, dead zone option and disable lockscreen option. The settings for soft buttons aren't there, where they are on my tablet. Not sure if it is unique to my rom but my source for Droid x is straight from CM7 site, and I install nightlies almost every day. I'm in no way calling you a liar, but I am wondering if you have first hand experience, as if you do, I would actually like to know how to get the soft key setting, because it would be practical at nighttime to switch off lights on home buttons and use a soft key instead(those home lights are so damn bright at night and you can't lower their brightness like you can the screen, but you can shut them off)

You are correct. I assumed it was there and didn't actually check until just now.
I use CM7 W/GB (RevNumbers builds). They are almost identical to the official nightly builds. I also use CM7 on my G-Tablet. Know that Tablet tweaks was there, and that the Tablet tweaks option was there on my X, I just assumed (my bad) that the options were the same.
After your post, I double checked on my X and I get the same options as you.
Looks like button savior is the way to go.

Lol so I'm not crazy? It would be nice if the CM7 team added those features to our x's. I just might go bug the CM7 team and see if I get a reply I can't imagine it would be difficult to add those options to the menu...

Home button vs screen lock press when screen is off and no lock screen security

Hello,
I've been using my new note 2 for two weeks now.. and I like it so much
I also used sgs2 and 3 before.
I'm not new to android.. I flashed roms, know every single setting in the device, rooted my sgs2 and tried lots of apps to customize them.
Regarding my issue, I like to set my device to none screen security because I always manually lock it with a press on the lock screen button after I do whatever I want to do with it, and to unlock I always press Home button to get back to where I was immediately without the need to swipe the lock screen.
The problem is when I lock it and there is an app running and then press the home button the screen goes to home default screen and do not just unlock the screen and keep it there where I was last, this was not the case with my sgs2 or sgs3.
If I press the lock screen button instead it does what I want but I prefer to use home button because its much easier.
Its not a big issue but its annoying sometimes because sometimes I get popup notification windows while the phone is locked (whatsapp for example) and I press the home button to see it and instead of just turning on the screen to see the window it goes back to home screen and the popup is gone, or in cases where I'am writing an email or reading something and meanwhile talking to somebody, if the screen gets locked, If I press the home button everything is gone. So I have to switch tasks to open my activity again.
I don't know if this is a jellybean issue or hardware (homebutton).
I know its not a big deal but I would appreciate if somebody can help get around this

[Q] Alternative ways to turn screen off on L

Alright so running the leaked L build that our lord and savior @digitalhigh n ole' piratety Cap'n Throwback managed to get running on our devices but have one thing that is really bothering me. Screen. Off. My power button has for ages been messed up and weak to the click and well It's truly horrid to press and I used to always have 'hold back key to turn screen off' but well I don't anymore. Xposed is gone, my one true love...how can I replace her...how can I get over her beauty and learn to let her go and potentially even replace her?
My heart is with you Xposed!! But we must go our separate paths! - A very sad Shadow
( @Captain_Throwback lol )
Incase anyone managed to misunderstand my sad love story I'll skip to the point, is there any alternative ways to avoid pressing power button to turn screen off? For instance double tap status bar to sleep or holding back button to power off (both required Xposed 'I THINK', keyword "I THINK").

I ran 5.0 for a short time but ended up switching back to Sinless before I could check. On many devices going back to and including the T-Bolt (EDIT: I was searching for the same thing back then because of the same reason), I used an app from the play store called Screen Off and Lock and I personally use the donate version and always had it tied in with the "search" feature (either a physical button or drag up from the navbar without buttons). One (big) reason for me to switch back is not having Xposed.

That app is good enough, as long as I don't have to press the power button xD. Thanks! I'll check out the donate version in a second as from the looks of it the free one only has the option of tapping the icon to turn screen off but oh well.
EDIT: NVM
For anyone else who sees this thread feel free to leave more options if you have any! More options the better.
No problem and I couldn't remember the difference between the versions. EDIT: There should be 2 different icons in the launcher, one being the app itself to turn the screen off (?) and one just for the configuration unless it's set up differently on the free one.
