[Q] how are there no belt clips/holsters yet? - G2 and Desire Z Accessories

i cant believe that the only things available specifically for the G2 are just skins and covers. ive been carrying my phone in my pocket for a week now and its driving me nuts. i had a seidio spring clip holster for my nexus and every blackberry before that had a leather belt holster and my phones before that all had belt holsters like my nexus. where they all at for the G2? i may have to go hunting for a universal belt holster which will typically have some kind of compromise, be it a non-rotating belt clip, a belt clip that can easily slip off, rough parts on the inside to scratch the phone, overly powerful magnets, etc.
is everyone just putting their G2 in their pocket?

i thought they had the belt clip with the rotating thing at the tmobile stores. It is with the stock "gel black" case and it had a stub that sticks out and you can slide into the belt clip.
it sucks to put it in my pant pocket, i've been going out w/ jackets lately so i put it in there.

At frys electronics I got a top load belt clip messanger case from cellet for 15 bucks. Micro suede lining its pretty nice. Only bad part is no swivel on the clip.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App

Well there are alot of after market case that you can find at any electronic stores like best buy, frys etc that will fit the phone or you can always use ebay or amazon

Dude Tmo stores have atleast 2 options...1 from Tmo and the other from body glove. The BG one has a kick stand all...weighs a ton though...

htc evo pouch works good with the g2 ive bee using my dads evo pouch

The faux leather G1 clip/holster fits the G2 very nicely. And it was only $2 when T-Mo was doing their clearance sale.
Go on ebay and pick out a holster that fits the G1 and it will fit the G2.

I received my G2 one day before the official release, went to my local tmo store and promptly had them install screen protection and the closest thing that works for me is a toploading leather tmo holster made for the MT3G slide, it was a snug fit but being leather it broke in (stretched) quick, bad side effect is some of the leather die rubbed off onto the grey corners of the G2 (anybody know best way to remove pls let me know). it fits close to the body, looks professional and the clips slips into jeans pocket or belt.

maybe they stopped making them because everybody realized how lame they make you look haha

I have 2 belt clips for my G1 and the G2 fits just fine. I bought them off ebay.

The cellet holster I got fits great.... made for iDrone4 so yeah this device is almost the same dimensions so just pick one that is close. Body glove shells are the sux stay away!

The dye on those fake leather holsters messed up my G1. I don't know how to get those stains off. Isopropyl alcohol didn't work. Any suggestions?

thanks to those that actually provided useful replies. sounds like i should look for G1 items. guess ill head to microcenter and bestbuy and see what they have.

Using the HTC Branded leather holster I found at bestbuy and really liking it. Suede lining makes me feel better about not having a hard case on my phone.

i picked up three leather belt holster from walgreens for 10 bucks. to the guy with the lame comment, ya it looks real professional digging your phone out of your pocket when its rigging.

I'm with you. I haven't seen anyone under the age of 50 rockin a holster or belt clip for their phone since 1998.
That being said, I'm sure there's plenty of universal type pouches with belt clips that work with the G2. Its a pretty standard size phone.

Ouch!
I guess pocket protectors & belt clip/holsters are for us nerds only. Shiz, i thought i was still cool rockin' my startac & nextel i90 phones as backup.

I was using a Cellet holster that I had for my Blackberry, and it fit really well (except my G2 poked out of the top a little bit). The dye inside started to rub off on the grey parts of my phone near the trackpad. I couldn't get it off either.
"Luckily" I had some issues with the power button and got the phone replaced. With the new one, I applied a full matte PhantomSkinz and am using a Belkin slim holster meant for an iPhone 3G/3GS. It's a little tight, but will probably stretch out over time.
The inside is grey, so if any of the dye does rub off, I probably won't notice. Plus I have the skin there I can just replace.

Best horizontal belt holster?

I am looking for a holster that:
1. Fits my Epic without making me fight to get it out.
2. Has a belt clip that keeps the phone attached to my belt.
3. Won't break after a few days of usage.
I've been able to find ones by Case Logic and Eddie Baur (at Best Buy) but they both have a belt clip that doesn't wrap around your belt. They'll attach to your belt but get knocked off very easy.

I bought this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/LEATHER-HOLSTER...ccessories&hash=item43a22e69cb#ht_2774wt_1008
after watching a video of a guy doing a review on it. It fits the phone perfectly. It is very new so the leather is kind of stiff and the flap doesn't close completely unless I tap it down until the magnet takes over, but that will work itself out in time. It feels like fairly nice quality, and is cheap as well. Holsters for me typically last around a year max before they are falling apart, so I tend to buy the cheaper ones.
Holster is made of leather interior and exterior. Epic 4g fits in very snug for the first couple fits, and then after half a dozen in and outs is a perfect fit.
How durable are the belt loops?
I have the one from Sprint, no name on the case...it fits the phone perfectly, but the only thing I don't like about it is that with the belt clip on I'm unable to charge my phone because the top clip part goes over the charging port.

Probably not too durable for the cost, but it will last at least a year I think.

I use the Galaxy S case also. I haven't found a case yet that'd suit my needs better.
That's the downside of this case, the full price is $34, but considering how well the phone fits and how elegant it looks, it's well worth it.
Just as a side note, I didn't get the case right away with the phone, I searched everywhere for a good case after I got the phone, but couldn't find it, then one day I popped into the Sprint store to solve a problem with my wife's phone and stumbled on it and fell in love, the 25% premium discount made it a lot more attractive

Just got one at best buy that is a hard case and comes with a belt holster. So even when you take it off your belt, it still has the hard case so if you drop it, the edges are protected.

Favorite phone cases?

Just recently got the otterbox phone case for desire hd since they don't have one for inspire, its not as bulky and protective looking as the ones for iPhones and hate how the little rubber flap that covers the earpeice plugin and charger is loose.
Anyone have a good recommendation for a cover? I've already seen a shattered inspire screen and it scares me buddy told me he dropped it from like knee length to ground
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
I've got the Otterbox Commuter on mine and love it; if you want something with more protection, get the Otterbox Defender. And as far as the protective flap, I just sliced it off with a razor blade; just do it while the case is on and use the plastic as a guide.
Don't think they offer anything but the commuter case which is also what I have

I just bought a Speck case (at -- cough, cough, choke -- full retail at the AT&T store) but it is great! It feels soft enough to hold onto without it oozing out of my hand, but is actually pretty tough.
Like almost every case, it takes away from the sleekness of the naked phone but not so much so I feel I'm holding a brick. It also fits absolutely perfectly in every respect. I especially like the barely discernible lip all the way around the screen which should help protect the screen in case of a face-down fall.

The Desire HD Defender Case will work for the Inspire 4G despite what they say. You just have to modify/remove the clear plastic flash covering for the 2nd microphone. I have one for my Inspire and fits like a glove.
The eBay "wave" case. $4 shipped. Takes awhile to get it, its coming from China, but worth the wait.
I returned a $30 body glove and a seido (sp?, from best buy). This one was better. Covers the camera area, fits snug, and has that rough texture that makes it easy to get a good grip, down the sides where your palm and fingers contact the phone when holding it.
Seriously. Best four bucks I've ever spent.
There's a separate thread here talking about this case, don't have the link handy.

I have the Best Buy Platinum case which is nothing more than a rebranded Seido Innocase II. I LOVE IT! Comes with a belt clip as well. The best part is it makes the whole phone feel sturdier (if that's possible). Slips in and out of pocket easy as well. The lip on the front makes it possible to pull phone out of pocket (unless tight jeans) without accidentally answering or hanging up on the call. The back lines up with the outer most part of the camera lens, thus the phone is all one thickness. I think this makes it easier to hold. Just slap a full face screen protector on the front before putting on the case and you're good to go.

I'd have to disagree with the speck case. I bought one when I first got my phone. It protects from scratches. But the case iitself had scratches on it from day one. Small cracks in it by the power button and the charger. Thing falls apart so easily. Also it makes the phone feel huge in my hand. Almost tempted to use my g2x naked

Yesterday I found this case at wal-mart (of all places) and it actually looked good, so i picked it up and love it. It's a body glove, but for some reason i dont see it on their website and it doesnt look like any of the cases ive seen at the t-mo store...
I wonder if it's different than the ones you guys have
I definitely second the Body Glove case. I'm not sure why more people dont use it. I've used nothing but Body Glove cases for all my phones since the G1 and I've had the: G1, HTC HD2, HTC HD7, G2X
I've had nothing but good results with the Body Glove cases. They can be found on Ebay for as cheap as $12-$14 also.
I had great success with the body glove for the HTC Touch Pro 2. An awesome product.

The one I found in wal-mart is like half tpu and half rubber. It's only one piece altogether, but a small portion around the top edge is rubber so that the power and volume buttons are easily pushable (they feel fantastic! you feel it as if it were a real button) and then the lower parts of the case are tpu (i think).
On that back side there are some diagonal stripes but they're not so visible because it's black on black, but they come off the case just a little so it gives it a nice grip. On the inside of the case where your slip your phone in it is also rubbery, so it grips on the phone very well.
Besides this purchase I was using a standard tpu case from tpu-cases.com and a tpu fusion case from ebay. Neither of these cases did it for me, i was disappointed because the same tpu cases i had for mytouch 4g were a much better fit.
Anyway, this case is perfect for me, I love it! I can take pictures of it if you guys want, since i cant seem to find it online anywhere.

It pops off every time I've dropped it. But I like everything about it otherwise. The belt clip acts as portrait and landscape stand plus it acts as an anchor you can hug with your 2 middle fingers when holding it in landscape.

I have an extra brand new incipio sylcrillic case that is on sale in the marketplace if you want it. PM me =P
I have a Ballistic HC. I use it in two modes. If I want to use the belt holster, I leave the outer shock membrane on the phone. It makes it fit into the holster better, makes the phone grippier in your hand, and adds an extra impact-absorbing layer.
When I want to pocket the phone, I ditch the outer rubber layer, and the phone becomes both smaller and less grippy, so that it slides pretty easily in and out of a pocket. The outer layer is plastic with a little shock give and finger grip.
I'll note that I long ago DITCHED the absolutely HORRIBLE, and embarrassing (for Ballistic) screen protector ( you just rip it out along with the loop of adhesive water seal junk) and have replaced it with a "no bubble" silk-top screen protector from the AT&T store. Very nice. A little less water resistant, but, it's worth it.
+1 for the body glove case. It's cheap, available on amazon, and it works. The only problem is the volume keys are exposed but I don't plan on being violent with my phone so that isn't a big deal IMO
Another +1 for the Body Glove here.
I accidentally left my phone on top of my car once, and didn't realize it till a few seconds later while driving about 30 down the road. Got out and found the phone in the middle of the street, still in the body glove, not a scratch on it.
The Incipio Silicrylic Case is what I use. I'm able to slide my phone in and out of my pocket with ease each and every time. Thinnest Case I've seen as well.
Body Glove case works very well for me. Its a harder plastic, so it doesn't stick to things. The size of the phone is what hinders the removal from my pocket. Plus I have big hands. You know what they say about that.

Otterbox or body glove?

Hey guys, recently got my g2 and looking for a good case for it. Ive narrowed it down to these two. Which case do you guys prefer?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Otterbox. They have great customer service too
I'm using body glove on both my desire z and on sensation.
It's amazing on desire but sucks on sensation...
Never used an otterbox, but never heard any complain either.
I got the body glove because it was way cheaper...
I've had both, and the Otterbox gets my vote. The Body Glove looked nice, but it did not last long at all. I guess you get what you pay for. I still have my Otterbox and it's going strong after 5 months of use. The only downsides are that Otterbox tends to add a lot of bulk to an already not-so-slim phone. The walls of this thing are THICK, so at least the bulk has a purpose in protecting the heck outta your G2. Another downside is the back part of the Otterbox is slick, so if you're not careful, your phone may slip out of your hand like a brick until you get used to it. Plus I like the raised power button and volume rocker, along with protectors over the 3.5mm jack and charging/USB port. Otterbox all the way.
If between the two, otter box.
If between all, g1 slip sock case

Fishbone case on amazon ftw!
It's all personal preference, but I had the otterbox and didn't like it. The outside is all plastic, makes it slide more and less comfortable to hold. After trying a couple I finally decided I liked the tmobile gel case the best. It's like the otterbox turned inside out, there's a hard rubber on the outside with a rigid plastic frame inside. It actually makes the volume and power buttons easier to use, and covers better than the body glove case you're thinking of. Plus it's cheaper than the otterbox.

It's like a rubberized plastic so it has a rugged feel to it and it grips really well. Only complaint is that you don't have as much space around the trackpad so you can't use it as easily. Not bad for 3 bucks though.
Bought an otterbox awhile ago. The quality is quite nice, but you'll have to be careful if you're removing it from your phone, already got quite big cracks v.v
I've got the Otterbox and saved my DZ twice now when I dropped it
otterbox really looks nice
