Do not Buy Xentris Snap on Case for Epic

I bought the case the same day I got my phone. I removed the case today to remove dust from under the case and notices that the sides of my Epic were scratched by the case

Thank you for the tip. Have you gotten a replacement for it yet?

Not yet. I sent Xentris an email but they haven't replied yet. I'm sure if I complained to Best Buy about it they'd give me a new phone but I don't know if I will. I wish they made a case that was lined with silicone on the inside for the Epic.

This seems to be a common problem for the Epic hard cases. I'm not a fan of hard cases just because of the bulk, but it's good to know they are messing them up.

I'm not a fan of hard cases either, I prefer silicone cases, but since the Epic is a sliding phone all we get are hard cases

cant stand hard cases either....for now until i find the right case (i swear its taking longer to find that than my last car). All im using for now is a bag that i got with a pair of oakleys from sunglass hut. scratch protection....better than nothing. every other type of potential hazzard.....its a nightmare!

do they make a case that does not allow the phone to slide? may sound terribly stupid, but my gf does not really need the physical keyboard...

I tried the Verizon gel case at Best Buy, not great, because I don't want the slider either.
Next stop is cheap kiosk at mall, the Verizon phone has same rounded corner
and shape, just thinner, so something might be workable.

I had the same problem with the one sold buy Best Buy (Sedio) and I just ordered a Phantomskinz.

Just wanted to post an update, Xentris never replied to my email.

Xentris Snap on cover for Epic 3G
I was in love with this case-that is until the matte paint started peeling after only 30 days. It will do until it bugs me so bad I have to fork out the cash for a Seidio case. Don't bother. I guess it was better than carrying it out without protection but stay away from it-it's cheap crap

Yeah i have the best buy case also (think its the xnetris), and its a total POS. rubber is all peeling off and the front snap on part has scratched the phone. pretty pissed...

It's a fugly piece of crap, don't buy it. Thanks to Viper786 there is a review and pictures here.

I had the $20 hard case that sprint sells on mine for like 2 months.. recently took it off to notice the marks on my epic.. i got the case to keep it mint and it essentially left a etching around my phone. I thought about yelling at sprint but not sure if they would replace or send off for repair... I also didnt buy the insurance and its been over 30days so wasn't sure how that would all pan out. Might head up there tomorrow and see what they say.

That blows. I bought that case today and I actually really like it. Not too bulky and has a nice grip. I also like the rubbery weave on the back. Now reading this makes me concerned. It seems like it is designed the same way as Seidio cases and I never had that issue with them. I may return it for Seidio then. Bummer.

yeah i liked it for the same reason and liked it up to a week ago whe i took it off.. i figured it was just me with a random issue.. i.e sand in pocked from fishing over the summer or something... i still like it but kinda like the feel with it off too.. i'll live with it either way... but if they replace it i might look into some sort of silicone hugger or vinyl wrap.

well amazon does have the xmatrix case for epic 4g and the build quality is the best i have seen for the epic...there is no interference or friction from the keyboard ...plus it has two layers like the otterbox cases one silicone and one soft touch plastic....based on the quality of this case, they could be charging otterbox prices and this would still be a good deal....stay tuned, i will be creating a new post with pics in a few minutes

Any G2 accessories at local Tmo stores?

Looking for some kind of OEM case, Zagg shields, etc. If I got my handset yesterday, surely the stores are building inventory by now - especially for high-margin chinese accessories...

I'm not sure but try daydeal.com I know the case I bought from there was a t-mobile accessory but a lot cheaper then t-mobile charges

My local store didn't have any out yet. I know youtube has two videos of a guy showing what cases will be available on launch day. 2 blue or purple hard cases and one clear case with a kick stand.

I was able to find a local t-mobile in Pembroke Pines, FL that had pretty much everything (t-mobile branded, including the BodyGlove case, anti-smudge screen protectors, etc) in stock.
The first store I tried (Hollywood FL) had squat, Radio Shack had no clue when they would be getting the phone (despite supposed availability tomorrow Oct 3 and the huge G2 sign in the store.)
So it's hit or miss, probably comes down to employees being unaware of the box in the back of the store. Maybe best to ask for a manager if you need a quick fix.

My local store in Huntsville, AL has a pretty good selection of accessories, including a hard case with a removable belt clip that doubles as a kickstand, and screen protectors with anti-smear. They are having a sale where you can get 20% off if you buy 2 accessories or 30% off each if you buy 3 accessories. That's basically enough to cancel out the ridiculously high prices, but I am a fan of instant gratification.
After using the phone for a while in the "black gel" oem case though, it really doesn't feel as good in your hand as it does with just the naked phone. My G2 will be going naked pretty often, I think.

Ok so all my T-Mobile store is selling is 1 Black gel skin, 1 Purple rubbery like gel skin(alot harder than the gel but still flexable), Black Body Glove and Screen Protectors. I have noiced that the Body Glove makes it hard to hit the top row of keys on the G2 so thats why im using just a screen protector and my old G1 sleeve =)

We have about 7 different cases at my store plus the screen protectors. I will take a picture of each tomorrow and post them for you guys.
2 Body glove cases (one skin like weird material and one normal body glove with changeable clip.
Blue and black combo
Purple and black combo
Clear (with kickstand)
Black gel skin
I think there was another but when I was receiving them there was just so much stuff I tried most of em. The best was the body glove skin like one.

my local store had the screen protectors on Friday and they had JUST come in and they hadn't even had time to put them out yet. i had to ask for them and they were behind the desk.
i didnt bother looking to buy anything else since I know the prices are outrageous. I refuse to pay $30 for a car charger I can get online for $6 shipped.

I picked up a case and a couple of micro-usb cables today. They had screen protectors, a couple of different cases, a crappy car/wall charger and micro-usb cables.
The screen protectors that they used to sell for the G1 were crap, not nearly as good as the thing that came with the phone. I suspect the G2 is the same, so I trimmed the little tab and a little off of the bottom of the one that was on the phone and left it on. I suspect it'll work fine for quite a while. Especially now that I have a case. The case seems to be much slimmer and better fitting that the covers for the G1s.

Actully the screen protectors are rather awesome. Make swype super easy. Not even close to they crappy ones for the G1 / mytouch lol. Ill admit those were pretty bad haha I would have kept the stock one but it fell off the first time I put it in my pocket =(

yea the screen protector feels nice no fingerprints but does your's make the screen fuzzy?

Ya they add a slight grainy look don't they? I guess that's the anti smudge thing but I'm ok with it.

Yea not as bad as the stealthguards I had before. Imagine this graininess times 100 thats stealth guards.

Ask the sales reps to see what they have. We still haven't put them out at my store either but will sell them if you ask.

Anyone else have any info on the body glove I'm thinking of picking one up later on today. Are the screen protectors at T-Mobile covering the whole screen or just the LCD part? Does it cover the home, back, etc....

From WAL-MART they pulled it from shelves the only one they have is the gel case on clearance and when those are done. They are not having any case for our phones made by body glove.

dumbest thread title.
There 2 different cases from body glove for the G2x, you are only talking about Walmart but don't say that. Nothing was recalled, which means the factory does not want them back.
Basically you are saying a store stopped carrying a case, a store with limited shelf space, and a ton of phones to deal with.
The body glove grasp case is excellent, if you can find it.

I'm surprised you DON'T think it's a POS. I bought 2 of them thinking body glove had to be the best case for the phone. It DOES however add bulk to the phone. I will agree it felt better in the hand. Not hard to remove using the "quarter" method BUT the top part of the case is flimsy and will break after a few removals. Ever accidentally drop your phone with this "best case available"? I have, the case pops off and the phone flies out and gets chewed up. The best part of this is that when I dropped my phone I was bent over and the phone was 2 feet off the ground and actually hit my foot BEFORE hitting the ground.
BAD CASE, HUGE MISTAKE PURCHASING IT. NEVER AGAIN

Ive had this case since I bought my phone and at first it was a little hard to take off. After having to pull the battery out early on the case didn't hold up very well and ended up breaking. Im on my second and its already broke but it does protect the phone very well.

There is no recall. I spoke to the store manager. They told me they pulled it off the shelf to make for cases of newer phones they carry.
The first person I spoke to was a regular employee and I see now he did not know what was going on.

I'm with you on this case, I have one as well and it has to one of the best cases I've used and I like how once you get it on its kinda difficult to get off not unless you use the slot like truplay mentioned, it comforts me that if I drop my phone the case won't pop off like a lot of 2 piece cases do.
I recommend it as well

If anyone is interested, Staples retail stores have the hard and gel Body Glove cases for $4.99.

there are 3 Body Glove cases
The two piece sold everywhere include T-Mobile
The Grasp which is a high grade TPU with some silicon fused to it somehow.
And the Silicon one you are saying at Staple.
All three exist on Ebay, and the Silicon is different than the grasp.
The Grasp has the diagonal lines which is an easy way to identify. It sell for like 8 bucks new on ebay last time I looked.

EVO Shift 4G Case Problem

I am getting an EVO Shift 4G, but I want to know if I can purchase a EVO 4G case and it will fit PERFECTLY (Like made for the phone) on the Shift 4G? Is there any difference in sizes between them.

I had an Otter box for my shift last year. While Otter Boxes are great, the one for the Shift has 2 main parts that clip on to the phone rather weakly. I dropped the phone at one point and broke one of the little clips that hold the screen protector on and it was useless after that. I wouldn't buy another one. Unless it was super cheap any way.

Yeah just about every case out there is a two peice because the slide out keyboard its hard to find a good one that actually works. I've triied them all and my last resort was the otterbox, well worth my 30 dollars.

the price is too expensive, and i don't know the quality for this price, last year i was cheated by a Chinese store on Amazon. i never buy products from this Chinese store .

You don't know the Quality of an OtterBox Product? It says shipped from, and sold by Amazon.com . As for the price that's up to the individual. Speaking for myself I find it reasonable for what your getting.

I've bought cheap Chinese cases from Amazon resellers, and the front piece constantly breaks. I've broken 3 or 4 so far, so you may be better off getting the Otterbox. They always feel huge to me though.

I've had nothing but luck with OtterBox Product. I've had them on my OG EVO 4G, and the Shift. Both times I've destroyed at least one. Called them up, and they sent me a replacement no questions asked.

It looks like Otterbox does not have a belt holster for the FVO Shift.
I have currently adapted the Seido holster from my old Samsung Epic 4G. but the phone does not fit very well. Not too bad for "free", though.

Another option is to buy the Case & Holster directly from Sprint. Store by me had them marked down 50% off. Ended up being like $20 for the Case & Holster Combo.

Trident and Nexus 4

I just wanted to let you guys know that I was curious to see if Trident would be willing to make a case for the nexus 4 or if they had any plans yet.
Asking them on their Facebook page seemed like a good idea and this is what happened... (short N' simple)

Trident: Looks like we will have an Aegis case for it, but I don't have any dates yet

Trident: Not sure about a Kraken yet....if I hear something I will let you know
TLR Version: They are planing on making a Aegis case for the Nexus 4, no planned release date yet, not no new on a Kraken case from them yet.
I was praying for a Kraken case, but an Aegis is good enough protection for now... however the Kraken has pretty cool accessories and a KICKSTAND!! (miss it so much from my OG Evo4G days...)

i just a reply from otterbox and they say that at the moment they don't have any plans on making a case yet at this moment...

I had the kraken for my og evo and it doesn't have a kickstand, it just has an opening for the kickstand. I don't think it has one built in for other phones.

I will definitely pick up that case, looks fine on the galaxy nexus via the trident website and I do not want to have to baby this phone beyond reason. People are always going to cry saying it makes the phone too thick but they will be the ones with scratches and cracked backs

the AMS kraken come with an extreamly versatile kick stand that can be flipped to the other side and even taken you to be used with many of their accessories! just awesome

The title of my email was "LG Nexus 4 Case"
Basically she told me they were not working on any Nexus 4 case.

I vote we spam their facebook page until we get a Kraken - let them know how much we want it.

I also commented on the Trident facebook page about my disappointment that a Kraken wasn't (at least currently) being publicly considered for the N4 and the post was actually hidden from their timeline as soon as they saw it. That kind of disappoints me. Their response was "If we get any word on a Nexus 4 case we will let you know.... the Nexus 7 Aegis case should be available around the first few weeks of Dec."
They may have hid my comment because I pointed out that the Aegis (had one on my SGSII) is nowhere near the caliber of the Kraken (have one on my Gnex). Even the (I believe retired) Cyclops line (had one on my Glacier) is better than the Aegis. If the N4 has a glass panel on the back...I do not trust the Aegis. I will probably look at other brands for a more protective enclosure.
Or they may have hid it because I pointed out that if Trident follows the way of the Otter and favors Apple development, people may move on to other brands. I would consider doing so. I mean, there is a case for the iPad mini already but nothing for the Nexus 7 until a few more weeks? The Apple stuff is positively rushed out but that's not the case for all products.
