daydeal has this but I'm not sure if it works. I know their cases are official T-mobile cases because I saw the cases they had at my local store and I ordered one case from them and it came in official T-mobile packaging and had the retail price on it, also the case I bought retailed for 24.99 and I got it from there for 16.99 so it might work and also it says OEM HTC.

Someone said that didn't fit in their phone. Also the HDMI I bought from them for my Vibrant was incompatible and was recalled... so... :S

The web site said it works with the g2

Disregard that. As soon as this is confirmed working, I'm buying one. That's sweet.

What about old Nokia tv-out cable?

Someone on the T-Mobile forums got it from DayDeal and said it wasn't compatible. DayDeal is WRONG about compatibility ALOT

Daydeal is wrong the cable wont fit its not micro usb its only made for the droid. please don't buy. Search the net for g2 tv out i dont even think the g2 supports it

How can't the latest phone support TV Out >.< Is this a joke or something htc...

No joke. If it supported it I'm sure it would be on the spec sheet just like all the other phones that support TV out. It's not, so it doesn't. I would love to be proven wrong, but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

IMHO i don't really see a need for my phone to connect to a TV...

I would love to have google nav on my cars built in screen, which has video in. Good reason, yes?

That's because you don't own a gorgeous television ;o Or maybe you do.
Even then to each his own. I want to play emulators/games on my tv from the phone. With a Wiimote. What's so terrible about that

I can confirm that the HTC TV out cable does not work with the G2.

Damn... Can someone try to get analog TV-Out from the 3.5mm jack?
Some Nokia phones and some digital cameras are currently using it for TVOut.. I'm pretty sure that it wouldn't work, but if we get device's schematics we can see if it's wired.
If it's wired we can always make a kernel module or build a custom kernel that supports it!

They probably mean the HTC Hero or myTouch 3G. They were incorrectly called G2 sometimes.

I can second that the cable from day deal does not fit the g2. I was looking forward to hook up my phone up to my cars radio. but the cable is def not a micro usb like they say it is. Theirs gotta be a way to use the micro usb as a tv out port. It would be great for emulators, you tube and also netflix and hulu if they ever come out for android.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using Tapatalk

MicroUSB can't carry out TVOut signal!
Anyway, as the HTC Vision kernel sources are available (leaked) I can examinate the video driver to see if there's at least an option for TVOut through 3.5mm jack.. but we should open up a G2/DesireZ for seeing if it's wired, 'cause if the TVOut through 3.5mm procedure is written in the drivers but it's not wired in the phone it's still useless.

Google TV

So I was just curious if anyone was going to develop for the new Google TV getting ready to get released? I definitely want to get one.
Also, will it work like the cell phones? Will it be possible to tweak your tv or add custom settings anything? I don't know much about it, but I was curious.
This is the first time hear about Google TV
Yes, you can either buy the stand alone box or the Sony TV with it built in.

I read that you will be able to control your Google TV set or box or whatever with your Android handset or iPhone.
Yup, they are supposed to simultaneously release the remote control app and the TV.

I got the logitech box today. Pretty sucky documentaion other than getting the thing hooked to the tv. I've been poking around in it for an hour or so. Im digging it I must say, and it has alot of potential. I just think they should have released the market at the same time with it.

Best Buy...
Stopped into Best Buy before work and picked up the Logitech unit.
Connected it to the DISH box.
And there is a fee to use DISH with Google TV.
Will play around with it some more after work...
How much are the boxes? And how much is the Sony TV?

Yeah I think we all do, but I guess the problem is probably that currently it doesn't live up to the requirements for being a *real* Android device (no GPS for instance).
And if Google were starting to make exceptions to the requirements for their own sake, it might very all make a lot of producers angry, all asking why they couldn't have an exception as well.
For 2.3 (or 3.0) they could write a different set of rules.
Hi
does anybody know if the logitech revue will work in australia with a simple power adapter or will it require something more
and will it work with Austar (pay tv service) or will it need support like dish network?
i refuse to wait the extra 3 months for the aussie release, cause apparently Oz is still a third world country
Thanks

TV out via cables?

Does the MyTouch 4G have a TV out via RCA cables? I realize its not included but does it have the ability of it built in like the Vibrant does?
I checked my settings and have not found a tv-out setting to enable like my old vibrant. It does have a new media sharing app that is supposedly going to link up via connected WiFi pods. I haven't messed with it too much.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
You can share whats on your phone via a wifi network and the "Screen Share" app that is powered by "Twonky"
This is one feature I have been really hoping for so that I could play my gensoid/snesoid games on any TV with RCA inputs. It's one feature that I haven't had on my Nexus One.
Can anyone confirm that that it either IS or IS NOT possible to have wired video output on a MyTouch 4G through either the mini-USB port (like Droid Incredible) or the 3.5mm jack (like the Vibrant) ?
That kind of sucks, didnt use it much on the vibrant but it was nice to have, not every tv is capable of the wifi sharing but every tv has an rca input

I don't understand why you want to put HD Video on a Tv with RCA jacks. I used DLNA network share on my Droid X. Never once wasted my time with a cable. I have since moved to T-Mo and will be getting the MT 4G on launch day.

I just read a review on chipchick.com that says:
"All in all, the MyTouch 4G display is not quite the best display out there on a smartphone, but it’s still excellent and easy on the eyes. T-Mobile also offers a $14.99 accessory that lets you connect the MyTouch 4G to a TV display via component input. This is a neat feature to have, although we wish it would have been HDMI."
This article says that it DOES support video out, via a component cable that T-mobile sells. Is the article wrong?
ok, at this point I've actually BOUGHT the phone, and I still don't know the answer for sure. The tmobile people have no clue either way.
the article I listed above says it DOES do video out, with a cable from tmobile. Can anyone prove or disprove this?
any word?

Yeah, it works great. I'm pretty sure there are already youtube videos showing it done. I've done it, but was awhile ago and I forgot where the tv out enable is in the operating system..

Unfortunately I cant post links since I just registered.. But visit brodits website and you will find it. Or make the following into a link yourself ^^

They also have one with molex connection for data transfer over the usb and stuff. These guys have everything you need for your phone and your car, no matter what phone or car you have! =D Sounds a like a bad commercial, but its true! =)
Perfect! Exactly what I came here looking for =D
Does anybody know if the power cable connection is just a USB Micro Cable that we can swap out, or do you have to use the cig plug?

That one doesn't allow the physical keyboard to show though. I like having access to the quick launch keys and also with the mount for my car it's a bit nicer having the screen a little higher. At this price point I'll probably pass on it. Plus it takes a bit of effort but the G2 does fit solidly in the G1 mount. I just finished a 1,500 mile road trip using it.
Seems that The company "Pro-Clip" has the same exact mount.. I like pro clips.... Expensive but nice

micro USB to HDMI

I have a Vibrant, and I just convinced my buddy to get a Galaxy S 4G and he loves it. I keep seeing threads floating around the vibrant forums about Micro-USB to HDMI.
Now from what I understand the Galaxy S 2 is able to do this, but from what I've read, there is not much of a difference between the hardware of the SGS2 and the Vibrant and SGS4G. From what I've read, theres something thats blocking it from working on SGS4G and the Vibrant thats enabled in the SGS2.
heres a few threads on the idea..
-> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=973789
another idea. -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11366461&highlight=kernel#post11366461
if anyone could get this enabled in the coding, it would be probably one of the sickest developments in the hacking of the SGS phones. not to mention theres a few bounties on here. people are willing to donate for such an amazing thing. including me!
This would be quite a development for us Galaxy S 4G owners. Especially if all we need to do is flip a switch or two in the kernel .config file.
But it is stated here that it is just for the Galaxy S2.

ahh see its been said that "only galaxy s2 can" buttt its also been said that the SGS was supposed to be able to do it and samsung decided to disable it so that the SGS2 could be the "first"
these all could be speculations. But like I said in 1st post, it's been said that all the hardware is pretty much the same (minues of course a few things). But apparently everything hardware wise related to this is the same and its disabled in the kernel. How amazing would it be! gahh

What that does is it gives you video and audio thru the 3.5 mm headphone jack.
its a cord like this LINK
I picked one up and its cool but the resolution and clarity is terrible coming thru that little jack. Although its neat to have

my tv in my room is a 1080p 32' insignia and the one in the living room is a old 55' projector big screen still though it doesn't look bad and is good to watch movies with but like I said i is definitely not HD.
I just use a radio shack 3.5-vga camcorder a/v cable and swap the red and yellow plugs. It works great. No its not HD but its perfectly watchable quality. Of course if the source video is sketchy its going to look even worse on the big screen. But try it with a decent video source and it looks pretty good. I use it all the time to watch stuff from my phone. Give it a shot.

Mhl Adapter

I've been thinking about getting myself an Hdmi Mhl Adapter for My Epic for awhile, so I'm currenty on the look out for one at tjhe moment. Has anyone here bought themselves one of these and worked well enought? Also, what dictates the tv compatibility of these things? I've heard only certain ones work with them.
The Epic is not MHL capable.
STOP!!!!!
DO NOT BUY THE MHL IT IS INCOMPATIBLE we haven not gotten tv out working yet. The dev came back a month or two ago after being gone for a year. He had a terrible accident I believe. I havnt seen him on since. Either way dont buy mhl.
Well so much for that hope... there any other subsitutions for video out I could possibly use?

Just to make sure, you have an Epic 4G and not an Epic 4G Touch right? If you have an Epic 4G, it is not MHL compatible. If you have an Epic 4G Touch, it is MHL compatible, but this is the Epic 4G section.
