Full Body Protection - Desire HD Accessories

Recently purchased a full body protection, similar to that of invisibleshield etc. from the following site:
http://www.devdef.com/products/for-htc-desire-hd
Hoping that it has no orange peel effect, loss of sensitivity of the screen or yellow tinting after time. Will give a review (with pictures if possible) when I receive it and my Desire HD!

nice, buy dono, dont like the Full Body Protection, a silicon case is better...

Yea thats fair doo's. My friend has the Samsung Galaxy S with a silicone case and whilst it looks good and gives it a firm feel to it, I definately myself prefer a clear full body protector. I had a bodyguardz protector for my HD2 and loved the feel and look of it. Nice to know that it was protected without covering up any of the beautiful design.
But yea its all down to the individual preference!

This body protector is a lot cheaper than Zagg which was quoting I think $20-$30 last time I looked. Does anyone know what the difference is?

Im not too sure on the difference, only the price difference at this stage. I have received the protector and so as soon as I receive the phone I'll apply it and provide my own review (with pictures) for other members to decide upon

Can you tell what the material is like?
Is it slightly stretchy and "soft" like Zagg's offerings (i.e. if you dig a fingernail into it, does it spring back?) or is it more rigid and unpliable like a brando protector?
I'm a big advocate of Zagg's products - but they dont seem too fussed in making anything for the DHD yet...

I am using CAPDA CASE to protect my Desire HD. The best protector case I used.

Used to have ZAGG full body protection. It was nice for a few months. But then it started peeling away along the edges, the dirt and lint started getting under the film... urghh, dusgusting. Got rid of that.

ZAGG Invisible Shield vs. Clear Check Crystal Skin Gel Case

My Nexus One is in the post. Have anyone had experience with both?
Which looks better? Which offer better protection? Which is easier to clean?
I've used an Invisible Shield on several different phones. I had it on my G1 and I don't plan to get one on my N1. It's too tacky feeling. However it does do a great job.
I like the "gel" case I got for my Nexus, and I don't care for the ZAGG skins I've used in the past (too tacky on the screen as mentioned). I also don't like how the phone is shiny from it.
I like bodyguardz. Mine is on its way!
Why would it be vs. I use the shield type protectors for the screen and front and the clear case to protect the body.
The case is going to protect scratches to the screen and the shield is not going to protect against fall damage. I use a combination of both.
Good point. If only the check pattern isn't there. That pattern is well annoying!

The InvisibleShield makes your phone look like garbage after a while too (at least it did on my white G1) as it gets dingy from collecting pocket lint and dust particles under the edges.
Of course the N1 has less moving parts, so likely the skin would fit better, but I'm going to look into something that also provides shock absorption for minor drops as well.
However, I will say this: the InvisibleShield does a really good job protecting the screen.

This will likely be the path I take, though right now I'm just using the neoprene case it comes with.
I rather like the little Android on it, notifying people that the awesomeness in my palm is not an iPhone...
Ordered a Zagg shield for mine. Itll be in next week.

Need help selector a Full Body Protector

Well, i am getting a nexus 4 soon and confused as to which screen protector to use.
both skinomi and xtremegaurd seem to have good reviews in this forum.
Any clear cut winner between the two or any third one which should be considered since i just look at this forum and nowhere else?
XtremeGuard is really iffy. I got a bad batch from them, it came to $6 for 3 full body sets. All of the fronts were garbage, so I told them. They sent me 3 more new ones. I'm yet to receive them, but we'll see what happens...
Skinomi may have changed since I got one for my Galaxy S2, but these were like Zaggs, only of worse quality. Dust would get trapped on the surface of the skin, and it would take a lot of effort to get them out, such that I made scratches that wouldn't go away. I tried buffing it with a glass cleaner and ended up burning the surface of the protector such that it fogged it up beyond any recovery.
I hear good things about XOskins and BestSkinsEver, but I can't verify anything about those.
Get the ZAGG.

I have both the BSE and the xtremeguard for the N4. Orange peel is about the same for both(next to nothing). The BSE is the cleaner cut of the two although mine doesn't have a proximity cut out they have since changed that afaik. Out of the gate the BSE is definitely the less tacky. About the same for reflectiveness and dimensions. Xtremeguard is cheaper by quite a bit and comes with a very small microfiber.
*edit* if it matters to you BSE comes with side protectors while xtreme does not.

I agree that you should get Zagg - if you want to overpay and get a noticeable orange peel surface. If you want less orange peel (but still present) and less than half the cost, get Best Skin Ever.
I had a Zagg on a blackberry that got driven- over with my car - which completely destroyed the device. When I peeled-off the Zagg, the screen was in factory new condition. I was impressed with the protection it offered, but the orange peel and tackiness of the surface really detected from interfacing with a glass surface.
Everyone has an opinion about screen protectors, and now you know mine.

wah wah wah, no one asked for yours.
XtremeGuard sent me three faulty ones (no cut out for proximity sensor), so they sent a replacement, but only one set... i paid for three sets. plus the one they sent me turned out to be partially stuck to the envelope rendering it unusable. Still waiting for them to send me my 3 sets.
Very bad customer service, true they replay right away but so far all their replies are automated, they don't actually read what we write.
I used to have a Zagg on my GNex, but I got tired of the Orange peel effect. Swipes were pretty rough for the first few weeks as well. I ordered a total body skin from BSE and I am very impressed with it. Minimal orange peel and smooth swipes. However, I can see a few tiny dimples that have appeared and light marks where my fingernails went across the screen. But they can only be seen with the screen off and holding the screen at an angle in the light.

E-mail customer service about the proximity issue, they will send you one for free
EDIT: Just realized that those tiny dimples came from leaving my phone face down on a windows sill with paint that didn't dry flat.
It all depends what you like. i aboslutelly hate the rubbery feel protectors. I still like to feel like glass. If you want rubbery get zaggs if you prefer more like the current glass I'd recommend the Rearth Ringbo or SGP. I use the Rearth and its great and very very very easy to install.

thanks for anyone who read and reply in future
My opinion: On their website it says that their glass protectors are best used with a flexible case. It is due to the fact that nearly every case that is hard will not be able to Accommodate the added thickness of the glass protector. This is because the protectors are meant to be form fitting to *stock* thicknesses. That being said they can be trimmed to allow for greater thicknesses. I wouldn't do it to an expensive case but that is just my opinion.
I would purchase a quality TPU case from a good manufacturer and then add the glass protector. It'll save you headache in the end. The case you linked to said it is PC, which I will assume means it is Polycarbonate, which is hard so far as I know. Decide which you think would be the best bet for your time/money, but I would ditch the hard case and go with a TPU and glass.

What he said.
By the looks of the case, it wraps around the bezel (how it snaps on to the device, of course). You said the glass adds 4mm thickness. The S4 is 7.9mm thick. Seems like a substantial addition for the case to work around. For this reason and that the return policy doesn't look like it they'll give you your money back unless its damaged/defective, you should find either a more flexible case or one that rides up the sides of the phone, not over (i.e. no lip)

So what you suggest is get another case? Or get another screen protector which not made of glass? Canoot do both right?
I think Glas.tr is 0.4mm thick and not 4mm(which is wayy too much for a screen guard)
It states that on the box - http://www.spigen.com/cell-phone/sa...ctor-glas-tr-slim-premium-tempered-glass.html

I personally wouldn't waste my money on another zagg screen protector. They make a good product, just not worth $20-25 each. I have used their warranty and it's worth the $3 for the shipping for a replacement, no hassles getting a replacement either. But the hd claims to be more clear, no orange peel. I got one for my s3 and it had orange peel, even the replacement had the peel effect.
I went with the tech armor for $22.95 on amazon w/2 day shipping, I love my prime membership. You can't go wrong. It's crystal clear, no bubbles and hasn't scratched yet. I've had mine since verizon released the s4. Glass screen protectors are the way to go. Here's a link to the one I got. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CD0I8EK/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 There are a bunch of glass screen protectors out there, just search the forum. I haven't had any issues with fit with any case I've tried.
How hard are the glass ones to apply?
Zagg is horrible in my opinion. The texture is very artificial. I prefer a glass feel. I'd recommend a glass protector.

I have put on many film screen protectors and find them pretty easy, but I've done plenty of graphics on cars. Wet applications are much easier to work with and get right.
The glass protectors I find are even easier. The tech armor went on with no liquid if I remember right. It was very easy. It just takes patience. The one thing I really liked about the tech armor glass protectors was the little suction cup holder it came with. Made easy for getting the alignment just right. Just put some pressure in the middle of the screen and work your way out.
i was gonna buy a glass one, but i got the zagg instead simply because i was at bestbuy and had a gift card, it looks fine after a day or so it settles in so to say, and it seems to get more clearer as the days go bye, of course im used to the cheap one in the defender so anything would look better then that. But i agree with others and say get a glass one if you don't need it right at this moment.
Yeah, zagg are really draggy, put one on the back of you s4 and you will never drop it again

Not really. I dont see why everyone says this. Unless they apply an unnecessary amount of pressure when sliding their finger on the screen. I barely have to touch my screen on my s4 for it to register

Cases and Screen Protectors

I just ordered my new Moto X 2014, I'm actually getting it for free to replace my old Moto X.
What are some good case and screen protector combinations? I know in the past I've had some trouble with a case AND a screen protector, it's sometimes one or the other. I'd prefer a clear case, but I'll probably end up getting more than 1 anyways.

Just got mine as well here is what I have found so far:
All tempered glass is a waste of money for this model none if it fits right at all due to the rounded edges
I would ASSUME the older plastic style ones MIGHT work better but read they also dont work that well
Most cases that say they are clear are actually frosted and that for me defeats the purpose of customizing the back
So I am going naked screen and hula case and will carry the phone in a belt pouch. Not the perfect solution but for me its acceptable. I would have preferred a strong clear tpu case (most turn yellow), I dont want a hard case, and would have love tempered glass on this but they simply dont adhere correctly.
There you have it the sad but true facts about cases and screen protectors from the research I have done. Hopefully some others in here can give you better news

I don't mind a hard case and not a fan of the glass screen protectors. I like the film ones. My last film protector made it a matte screen and took the glare away. It was fantastic! And it worked with the case. But it's the only smartphone that I've had where screen protector AND case can be used.

It's either going to be the Gelli Black Frost case or the Hula Bumper case initially. I'm getting one of those for free if I buy a screen protector, which I was going to do anyways.

I love the look, not sure it would truly give a huge amount of protection but should protect the edges of the glass on the screen which i read is the most vulnerable part of the phone. It does have a little but of movement when you hold the phone (aka wiggles slightly) but it also adds more grip, i have a plastic backed phone.. Those damn beveled edges, nice concept, nightmare in reality. They are why no glass or other screen protector will truly fit right.

When holding or using the phone its fine. I am also extremely OCD and when it moves/wiggles is like when you just tap the side with your finger you can feel it move very slightly, very slight;y but for me noticeable, but not enough to get rid of the case just makes the phone look awesome.

I really like the way that looks. My phone is Royal Blue, White Front, and Red Trim. So it's between a white or red hula case, or the gelli case. I'm leaning towards the Hula for more everyday use I think, and buying another case from amazon for when i need more protection. Or buying the hula and getting a good protecting case from moto's website
I have a coupon code from Moto for $25 off, so Im buying the screen protector and I basically get any case for free.

I've been using the Hula bumper and Power Support Brilliant Film screen protector. The edge of the case doesn't contact the screen protector so it doesn't peel.

Weird question, but do you think there's enough give with the Hula case where it would fit around the Moto X in a thin TPU case? I like the TPU cases but worry about the protection or lack thereof. Just wondering if it'd be possible to use them and occasional put the Hula Case around them for extra protection. Of course the buttons probably wouldn't work then...

You wont be able to use the two together, to much of a lip on the back with the hula case. Even if you did somehow fit it on the tpu would never touch the back of the phone just the lip around the edge. TPU will likely give more protection then hula but hula will likely give more grip then a tpu case.
New to the X, is it worth while getting a screen protector? Case is on its way, but with Gorilla Glass 3, is it truly worth the extra to cover the screen? Probably will end up with one but wanted some other opinions!

That is completely up to you but I can tell you this based on my research and personal experience:
There is not a tempered glass screen protector on the market for the 2014 that adheres properly. Not one of them works well and thus dont bother with those. The 2014 tapered edges on the glass are the issue. I have HEARD of similar issues with PET style screen protectors but never messed with those as they never felt right to me.
Lastly everything I have read says those tapered edges o the glas DO make it more prone to crack or brake on a drop so you need SOMETHING to protect the glass edges. Full case, hula bumper, something....

A lot of the cracking that people report is from dropping their phones, not taking the Hula on and off. The Hula is designed to absorb the shock of a drop and it breaks so that the phone does not. Better that your $20 bumper break than your $600 phone.
I take my Hula off and on all of the time and it has never cracked. I think people are dropping their phones and the Hula is doing exactly what it is supposed to do - absorbing the shock, which can result in it cracking instead of your phone.
