HTC Desire Accessories... Contest ideas? - Desire HD Accessories

Hi,
We @ OMG Android are looking to have a new contest when the Desire HD launches.
We are thinking about giving away an accessory, however I want the option of the people who are planning to buy one of these amazing phones.
What prize would be better?
A case, a screen protector etc?
Thanks for any input

a leather sleeve for the phone? or a set of screen protectors !

Well the phone doesn't come with a case or screen protectors so any of those!

I won't bother protecting glass, just don't put phone with keys in the same pocket.
I'd need car dock and maybe dlna2hdmi docking and charging station.

Parrot bluetooth radio please

some sort of sleeve.

sleeve !!
A nice sleeve :-D
Similer to the one that came with the N1 :-D

Looking for Protection (befor hiring FBI)

So I'm looking for some protection but need som recommendation.
Found those two on Ebay.
Black Faceplate Rubberized Cover Case For HTC Desire
&
Crystal Clear Cover Case For HTC Desire U.S. Cellular
Anyone have one of those and can give some feedback?
Or do you have some recommendations for another protective case/screen protector? Please take some time and post befor i hire small FBI midgets to protect my phone
Sorry can't post links yet, but a quick google of HTC Desire Official Pouch Case will get you to what i mean, i purchased it from amazon for around £7 and quite prefer it over the more permanent cases which you posted, the phone fits quite snug and it has a handy tab to save you struggling to get it out.
As long as you take care when getting your phone from the case i suppose a screen protector isn't needed either. Although if you're the clumsy type then by all means choose the type you posted but it's a nice phone and shouldn't be made to look and feel like a brick imo
I don't have any protection for my Desire and sofar there is one minor scratch on the display because I had my keys with it when I was drunk.
The screen is pretty sturdy aslong as you don't put metal/sharp objects in the same pocket.

The whole sha-bang

I have about $170 dollars left over from buying christmas presents for my family and cannot think of anything better then decking out my G2 with goodies and accessories.
Things I am looking for specifically.
-screen protector
-desk dock
-car dock
If there is anything else you think I should get feel free to post it.
I have a black tattoo rubberized body case from accessory geeks so I do not need a full body case.
Also where can I buy a replacement aluminum battery door? I put my G2 in the same pocket I put my wallet that has steel accents on it and it scratched the door all to heck.
Thanks to any and all that post.

I'm quite pleased with the arkon car mount I bought. They have all different kinds of mounting options too (suction cup / cup holder / chair bolt / etc).
Won't eat up too much of your fund either: mine was under $20.
One things for sure check out skinomi for screen protectors. Cheap for great screen protectors. Personally I've yet to order mine (doing it this week) but from reviews on the forums. Many XDA members recommend Skinomi. Thin, durable, and according to some. You feel like your the screen protector isn't there.

The car mount looks sweet, I'm ordering one now.
fancy shmancy case
ohh you got 170 do you?... Well I spoiled my dad with this case from Col. Littleton and I suggest you do the same. Its made in America and there is definitely a quality difference compared to a pleather Made in C$$$. I went with the black one. You can even get it engraved.

PS - yes it fits the G2 perfectly

First Look at Official Sensation accessories!

HTC CU S490 Sensation Car Upgrade Kit
HTC PO S621 Sensation Meteor Slip Pouch Bulk
HTC TP C620 Sensation TPU Translucent Black Hard Shell
HTC AC M490 Sensation MHL - HDMI out Cable
HTC SP P540 Sensation Screen Protector Twin Pack
The car holder looks like the expensive HD2 one rather than the cheaper Desire HD. Surprised thought the DHD would havebeen far more popular due to a much better price point.
PS Put in links because I could get images to show here - sorry.
the TPU shell looks nice - hopefully there will be HTC accessories at the T-MO store when the phone is out~
If the phone has the same materials as the Nexus One, then, you probably don't need the shell
Think i'm going to buy an case, thank you!
If the TPU case is as good as the one I have for the Desire HD, it should be quite nice
If the HTC Sensation has Gorilla glass, why are HTC selling official screen protectors? Seems a bit of a contradiction.

Although it is great solid glass, it's not completely fail proof, I have an SGS with GG and I managed to scratch the screen (more like slight pits on the screen portion) and a couple 1-2mm scratches by my Back touch button, when it fell out of my pocket onto a slabbed surface.
Did anyone buy the hard shell? would like to see how it looks on the phone

It's out on May 30th (next Monday). I've pre-ordered mine from play.com (£2 cheaper thank the links in the first post), together with the slip pouch and screen protectors. I'll take pics when I get them.
I'm not going to use the hard shell AND the pouch, but I'll choose when I get them. I'd prefer a "naked" phone once out of the slip pouch, but I'm nervous about dropping it, like I did with my HTC Desire a couple of times which knocked small chips off the top corners.

I'm probably going to go for a pouch, like I did for my DHD, I don't want to cover up the beautiful phone body with a case

Case-mate appear to be making a Case-mate Tough for the Sensation - that will be good no doubt!
Official dock
Do somebody know something about official Dock for Sensation?
All online shops that showed the official HTC accessories as being out today (30th) are now just showing as out of stock. Was hoping to get them early this week.
Just got my official HTC screen protectors.
Not good news, I'm afraid.
- Each screen protector comes with one peel-able side, the other side is the face-up side and doesn't have a second bit to peel off once it's been applied to the phone.
- Each screen protector is EXACTLY the same shape and size of the screen, going to the very edge on all four sides, with rounded corners and a tiny cut-out for the proximity sensor.
- Each screen protector is completely flat, with no account taken of the bevelled edge.
- The surface of the screen protectors has quite a lot of friction. Rather than smooth movements, the screen protectors result in juddery movements.
- Whilst it is just about possible to get it to stick to the long edges of the screen, it is impossible to get it anywhere close to the top and bottom edges. See the third attached picture (ignore the bubbles!). You can see the strip about 8mm wide where it just won't stick down. It comes off almost straight away.
I really don't recommend these at all! I'm going to risk the Gorilla glass until (hopefully) some better screen protectors are available.

Touchpad Accessories

So it appears there are official keyboard and dock/charger options...but is it possible to use say a third party keyboard with the Touchpad? If so will any bluetooth keyboard work? Are there any other docks that work other then the HP one?
My Apple Bluetooth keyboard works without a hitch.

a question for people who have had them for some time, is a case or screen protector necessary? Does the screen scratch easily, or will I be fine without one? I never like to use cases, my evo and xoom were fine without one, but i keep hearing that the build quality of the touchpad is not that great so thinking about getting something to protect it.

jonhern,
I would say a case is necessary just to make your tablet more portable. I would hate to put it in my backpack and mess up the screen because you don't have a case around it. I don't think the screen protector is necessary, but if you don't want a case it might come in handy. Just remember, you'll have a 10 inch piece of glass floating around that would be very easy to scratch.
Also, this isn't really a cheap case but it is very high quality:

I have a version of this case for my nook color and love it. It's very sturdy, looks quite professional, and has a built in stand with multiple positions. It is worth the money!

Yeah, when i took my xoom anywhere i would just stick it into my leather folder legal pad. nothing ever happened to it. just worried about the build quality of the touch pad and if it would be more prone to scratches, on the shiny plastic body and glass. the xoom was metal and glass, so felt more sturdy.
seen a few on ebay around 15 to 30 dollars for synthetic leather...

$50??? Kind of kills the deal - $50 case for a $99 tablet? The leather cases for $15 on ebay look ok.

Haven't checked Amazon(yet), but I would think there maybe a few on there for cheap?
On the hunt for a TPU case for the TouchPad, or any iPad 1 TPU cases that have been confirmed fit the TouchPad. Thanks.
There you go. http://www.amazon.com/Acase-TouchPa...USOO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1314037391&sr=8-1
http://www.amazon.com/GTMax-Quality...45ZQ/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1314037495&sr=8-8
http://www.amazon.com/TouchPad-Leat...4R1U/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1314037391&sr=8-5
You need to be careful with the third party cases. Yes they may be cheap and look night, but they can hamper the tablets functionality.
I purchased the offical HP case off of amazon.
Why? Because it does not cover the bezel.
There is a swipe up function in webos that is suppose to be pretty neat, but typically (depending on your orentation) you swipe up from the bezel at the bottom to activate this feature. The feature actually only uses a pixel wide sensory area at the bottom of the screen...but people at precentral report difficulty activating this feature when the bezel is covered.
Hence why the touchpad case from hp does not cover the bezel.
People looking for info on buying a TouchPad and/or accessories should check out the action on SlickDeals.net. There are a bunch of recent threads on TouchPad totalling over 10 MILLION VIEWS!
Compatible $5 iPad 2 sleeve for HP TouchPad @ VZW
Several people on FatWallet have been reporting success with this iPad 2 sleeve from Verizon Wireless, currently for $5. Owners say the TouchPad fits just fine. Be forewarned though - VZW has a $35 restocking fee return policy, so if you buy, buy knowing you'll be keeping it if it doesn't work out for some reason. Not like you're out a lot, anyway.

How did you pair it?
I selected keyboard in Bluetooth and turned on my Apple Bluetooth keyboard and my touchpad could not see it.
Also anywhere to get another charger with the proper 5.3v 2amp at a reasonable price? You can't use just any USB charger because if it puts out only 5v it will take about 3 days to charge.
I just ordered a silicone cover for a ipad, I will post how it works out.

I would be interested in hearing what make/model you ordered, and how well it fits the tablet. I'm looking for something to keep the fingerprints away .
Anyone ordering an iPad cover for use with the TouchPad needs to be sure to order a cover designed for the original iPad, not the iPad 2. The original iPad dimensions are extremely close to those of the TouchPad, but the iPad 2 is much thinner. The TouchPad will not fit in most cases designed for the iPad 2.

Trident Kraken

I'm looking for a replacement for my Otterbox Defender, I'm not very happy with it at all. The outer silicone layer is falling off my case because its becoming too loose, and the hard inner part is cracked to hell and back. And I've only had the case since September and hasn't had any major falls!
So I'm looking into the Kraken case, and from what the website says, it has a built-in screen protector, but on the actual page where you buy it is a self-applicable screen protector. So I was just looking for some feedback and actual answers? Which is it? And is the case any good?
Or are there other suggestions for a rugged case?
I myself returned it. The case is very heavy, the plastic feels cheap, and its not smooth so you feel all these bumps etc in your hand. It doesnt lock into the belt clip easy enough to actually be useable. I have a belt on my pants and the thing was so heavy that it pulled my pants down a good 2 inches. The screen protector is also one you have to put on it there is no built in one. I would email otterbox, they have replaced my stuff several times, all they did was ask me for a about date i bought it, and asked me for a picture of the damaged case all i had to do was write the date on piece of paper and include it in the picture and they sent me new one within like maybe a week to two weeks at no cost.
I would really recommend the Ballistic SG. it's under 19$, but is superb. The best part is the buttons remain perfectly usable.
Do pair it with a wet application screen protector, but the design should generally prevent any part of the screen impacting any surface.

I'll 2nd the Ballistic SG. Had it since June and still love it. The only car dock I liked was the ibolt, but the phone wouldn't fit with the case on, so I had to mod the ibolt with a Dremel to make it fit. This case would be perfect if it had a compatible car and desk dock accessory option.
i wouldnt really say ballastic is what this person is looking for to me its like mid range protection id assume they ment same level as otterbox and the ballastic gels lip is not anywheres as big as the one on the otterbox so , ans skin to me is kinda thin id just email otterbox ask for replacement.
I've gone through two replacements for my Defender since I first posted. Sure Otterbox has had no problem sending them to me free of charge. But this is ridiculous. Its just not sturdy enough. It feels like cheap plastic.
I've also looked into the Ballistic cases. But the one I really want they don't make for my phone. Sad day.
i honestly cant find anything i like for one x i wish i didnt get this thing im trying to trade it out. but im using generic ballastics case. it does job not as cheapy feeling but the rubber does leave some like smudges on back of my phone if u find anything let me know.

Indeed. These things are great. They've gone up in price a bit, but are still really worth it. The rubber part never stretches out because of the plastic and ballistic that goes around it sort of keeps it nice and tight on your phone. Definitely worth getting.
