[Help] Accidentally deleted /system/app folder - Droid 2 Android Development

I accidentally deleted the /system/app folder while doing the R2D2 ROM flashing process and now my phone wont boot back up, it is stuck at the Droid screen, it plays itself over and over again, any help on how to fix it would be appriciated!!

Can you connect it to your computer? Do a battery pull and then do not try to turn it on, just see if you can get your computer to see it. If so then you could flash the sbf and start over.

Edit, my phone is being recongized by the computer in the Bootloader mode, flashing sbf, hopefully everything goes well

Next time try a battery pull and then power on.. I did that last time i was in a bootloop and it took me to recovery where i was able to restore a backup.

ok serious help, phone will not boot up

ok, tried doing the official ota update about 2 days ago, but once it tried doing the update, my phone gets stuck at the (M) logo.
I cannot boot it up in anyway possible, and my battery is dead so i cant start it up while plugged in USB, but if its plugged into the wall itll start up and im able to get into boot loader etc...
ive tried putting a recovery img on root of sd card and applying as an update.zip file and getting an sdcard error status 7.
my phone was never rooted, all stock. any help>
power off your phone, plug it into wall charger and let it charge up. while its charging up download a 2.1 sbf,
SHOLS_U2_02.31.0_UCASHLSMR2EMEAB1B805C.0R_PDS003_USASHLS00RTEU_P042_A005_HWp2a_1FF.sbf.gz (google it)
Then download RSD Lite (google it)
Then when your phone is charged boot into bootloader (hold up on keyboard and press power button)
connect to pc via usb, open rsd lite, make sure phone shows up connected, load sbf you downloaded and press start and let it do its thing.
should bring you back to stock 2.1.
hope this helps
well thats the thing, ive let it sit plugged into a wallcharger for hours upon hours, the secon i plug it in, it turns on by itsself and sits at the moto M screen, and once i unplug it i cant do that.
i am able to get it to the screen where you can wipe/data factory reset, wipe cache, reboot and apply update.zip. if i had an update file, and i did a wipe and flashed it, would that fix it? because ive tried that, but idk if its the wrong file or what, but i get a sdcard error. like status 7 on the verification step
also on getting the batt charged, i noticed when plugged into a wall screen lights up with M logo. and when i plug into computer with usb, the white light next to charger lights up?

you don't run an update, u reflash the phone with rsd lite. choose the correct sbf for ur phone from here - http://and-developers.com/sbf:milestone?s[]=sbf, download it, extract it, flash it. make sure the battery has a full charge
.i want to reflash but rsd lite cannot detect my milestonext720...how ?..FYI b4 this i run adb on same pc...but it can run...all driver for motorola hav installed ..ill use rsd lite 4.5.3
well the problem is my phone wont charge, it wont charge in wall or usb, when i plug into wall phone auto starts and just sits at (M). idk if it charges in bootloader mode? or in recovery? not sure

I actually had this problem myself fairly recently. I was able to partially insert the plug into my phone until the LED turned on, but not far enough to where the Motorola logo turned on. It'll either try to fall out or plug further in, so I recommend placing it on a surface which won't have much disturbance.
After about an hour, you should have sufficient charge to mess around with the software and flash a new SBF by the bootloader, or reflash a backup through recovery. I wouldn't recommend leaving it plugged in too long like this, because it might not be very good for the phone's health.

umm .. what's about charging the battery with another phone or external charger and put it back to ur phone?
i have just the same issue ... i am sure that the battery is fully charged, cause ive charged it with another milestone ... but that one simply won't turn on ... tried different combinations of sd/simcard/battery on and off .. still the same ... Any help would be highly appreciated.
pull out the battery get back and push d-pad UP and power buttons before M logo came up. so you can flash a sbf file with rsd-lite._a

Fixing a bricked Nexus S

I had a Vibrant before and flashed it constantly. I soft bricked it several time and it was easy just to Odin back to stock and try again. Before I begin to flash Roms on this phone I would like to know how one would fix a bricked Nexus S. I searched "bricked Nexus S" and didn't come up with much.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Flash a stock img thru fastboot/adb. Just as painless as Odin was if not easier.
Sent from my Nexus S
Yeah I figured that much but I have never used ADB before. What are the commands to flash a stock img and where can I get a stock img? I already have ADB set up, serial # comes up when I enter - adb devices. I'm ready to root and flash but I want to be prepared for anything. I don't want to panic for ten minutes like I did the first time I bricked my Vibrant.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
You should be able to snag a stock image from the development section. As far as what adb commands to use check out any of the root tutorials in development.

bricking the phone is not easy... everything can be wiped and reinstalled with ease. Recovery is your friend.

That's why I love this phone. When I first rooted my wife's phone she was a nervous wreck about me ruining it. Now, she jokingly cheers when it boot loops or hangs on the google splash screen.

Hi Everyone.
I have my Nexus S for a 3 days - it's brand new. Last night i turned it off. It was about 50% charged. Today i can't turn it on. Phone is dead. What's wrong? There is no any response, even during charging (black screen).
Phone wasn't rooted. It has Android 2.3.2 update.
What can I do?

not enough information is present. you can attempt to get into bootloader / recovery, plug USB to the computer. When plugged, does the computer make a plugged in noise? if it does.. try turning it on, try using adb on it, etc.
as a last resort: if its not rooted or modified in any way, you can go back to best buy and exchange it since you said you've only had it for 3 days

First thing to do is pull the battery, let it sit a minute or two, then put the battery back in and try to boot.
Also, try booting into recovery or fastboot. With power off, press and hold volume up button, then press/hold power on switch. You should enter fastboot mode. From fastboot menu, select boot to recovery. The phone will reboot and you'll get to a screen with an "!" and an android robot on it. At that point you press hold power, then press/hold volume up (make note that this is the reverse of what you did earlier).
Once in Recovery, try wiping cache from the menu.
Reboot.
If still no good, then repeat the process but pick factory reset/wipe from the menu in recovery. Note that this will wipe all personal data and apps off the phone but it won't touch your sdcard contents.
The case with pull battery - not working.
I can't enter fastmode using 2 keys combination.
Computer don't recognize the phone. It's brick...

Last option is to try to trick it into Samsung's Download Mode (see the Odin thread in Development section), but if the keys aren't recognized you can't soft boot into it so you'll need a dongle with a resistor to get there.
Sounds like it's truly a brick at this point. You'll probably have to return it, but I'm concerned about returning a phone that has your personal data on it without being able to wipe it. Doesn't seem like much way around that at this point if you can't get fastboot or download.
get the 301k resistor JIG and then you can go into the download mode even without the 2 keys + usb plug
you can always make your own JIG if you have the materials at home or a nearby Radio shack
Thx for all Your advices
Problem was with the dead battery. The battery died during the night - i don't know why. I think the system waren't able to boot up ant start charging process.
My solution:
I took 9V battery, 2 wires and charged dead battery for a while from 9V battery. Then a put it into phone and plug in to wall charger. Charging process started
Now everything is ok
That's pretty scary that it wouldnt take a charge if run down completelty. But hey handy to know incase it happens to any of us,
If you get any repeat i would take it back to get a fresh battery of course (only right to do so).
here's hoping you never need to though

Bricked
Tried unlocking nexus s last night, now it appears bricked. Cannot connect to computer to reflash as it seems to have wiped the driver. Any ideas on how to bring it back from the dead? thanks
I have managed to see the phone with fastboot. I was hoping that fastboot update, would re-image the brick. Can anyone let me know the correct syntax. I am not able to copy an image onto the phone. Thanks again
Noob {MAC User}... Please be gentle
Greetings Everyone,
Okay, so I endeavoured to root my phone last night and was successful. I ran into trouble when the clockwork recovery and superuser permissions kept getting removed each time I reboot.
Now, I'm at the Google splash screen with no way to move forward. I'm a mac user and I don't really get the adb thing. Got adb to work with mac from a youtube video, but still not sure what commands to run.
What I've done so far:
- wiped cache
- wiped/factory data reset
- retraced my steps by using terminal to setup superuser permission from this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=927838)
What I think:
- maybe in all of my clicks I removed the ROM, so the phone doesn't have a ROM to work with.
This maybe a really infantile conclusion, but I know there's a solution (had a rooted G1 that I flashed all the time and thought I bricked once but was able to get it back to stock).
Eagerly waiting for a reply... no cell phone if this can't be fixed.
Tamara

It would be easier to help you if we knew exactly what you did that caused the problem. You said you tried to unlock it...you mean fastboot oem unlock or something else?
If you can get into fastboot, you're not totally lost, but the computer needs to see the phone to do it.
I'm working in a vacuum here on what your real problem is, but without further details, the things you can try are boot into recovery (from the fastboot mode select boot recovery)...if you're stock recovery, press/hold power, then volume up once you see the android "!". From there wipe cache and whatever else it will let you wipe. Try rebooting. IF that didn't work go back to recovery and try a factory reset of the phone (will delete all your apps and stuff on the phone, but not on the sdcard (pics and stuff).
If none of that works, you can still try getting Clockwork recovery on the phone via fastboot. Boot phone to fastboot and then on computer type the command "fastboot flash recovery <put file name of recovery version you're flashing here>"
Once in clockwork, you should have access to adb via the computer. On your computer go to the Development section here and download any of the various nandroid images posted there. Now you use clockwork mounts and storage menu to mount the sdcard. Then use adb to "adb push <insert path and filename of your nandroid image here> /sdcard"
Unmount the sdcard with the clockwork mounts and storage menu. Now go to the backup menu, select advanced restore and find the nandroid image and restore it.
With any luck, you should be able to boot into a fresh phone.

Bricked! Please Help!!

Man I hope somebody can help me! I was trying to flash the latest CM7 nightly when in the process my phone just froze (while the ROM was flashing in recovery). I left it and the phone finally rebooted. I have the latest CWM with ext4 recovery and the Trinity kernel installed on my phone. When I boot up and try to get back into recovery the phone just hangs on the Trinity splash screen and won't let me into recovery.
I tried to reboot recovery through adb, and the phone reboots but it just takes me back to the battery charging screen (since the phone was plugged in). When I use adb the phone does show up when I do adb devices but gives an error when I do adb shell.
Is there anything I can do to do a nandroid restore or flash a new ROM or basically anything to get my phone back?
dude the same thing happened to me take the battery out then press vol up n power this will reboot ur phone now when its rebooting n u get the blank screen for a split second QUICKLY hold vol down n power (recov) n u should get back in recovery good luck bro
after u take batt out make sure to put it back in n do steps forgot to clarify
I had something like this happen a few weeks ago. I re-preformed the NVFlash of CWM and everything worked after that. I don't pretend to know why, but maybe it'll help you. I was still using the test CWM and no extra kernels at the time. Good luck.
Whew! Man that was a close one! Ok It is doing a NANDROID restore now. Here's what I did:
I installed an older CWM thru NVFlash and then I pulled the batter, placed it back in and then did the power+vol up and then quickly power +vol down and it got me to recovery.
Thanks guys for your help!

Dont stress too hard, ya its a pain and you may have to funble around for a while but you'll get it. I started periodically copying a 'latest backup' along with a 'cwm recovery' file and saving it on my PC Hard Drive. I actually have it setup now where both ROM Manager and TI Backup save the file to my SD card and it then sync's nightly at like 3am to my DropBox fileshare... that way if I'm ever away from my pc I can just find a pc to use and quickly grab it with all the materials I need in one spot (TIB backs-up all your apps by the way which is nice).
If worst comes to worst I grabbed the stock ROM off a thread here and I can link you to it if you need it. I'm sure you'll be able to reflash your backup but if not your phone isnt necessarily toast... its just a headache.

[Q] Dead Inspire 4G

I was on a call and when I hung up, wanted to unlock.
Push the power button, lights on the 4 bottom buttons come on. Screen stays black, no backlight.
Push the button again, lights go off.
Push again, lights come on, no screen.
etc, etc...
I pulled the battery, and put it back in.
Now it's just sitting here saying HTC, but it doesn't get to the "quietly brilliant" ever. It just sits there forever saying HTC.
The phone is hacked, rooted, ENG S-OFF, was running Android Revolution 4G 5.1.6 or something when this all happened.
I can get into the [vol-] + [power] menu (white BG) and to recovery (black BG), but I'm not sure how to transfer files to the SD card to load a new ROM on without Android.
Can I use ADB to push a file across? If so, how?
Is there anything I should try before I wipe my phone? I'd like to back up my apps and SMSs if possible, but won't break down in tears if I can't.
Edit: I don't really know very much about ADB/Fastboot, but when I type ADB Devices the phone doesn't show up, however if I go into "Fastboot" in the white screen, I can type Fastboot Devices and my phone is listed. I suspect I can somehow push across the Android Revolution 4G ROM zip file and wipe/install it from recovery? I'm not sure how though.
WHile the phone is completely off, press and hold the Volume (down) and the Power off/on button (press the volume down first if that makes it easier ,then the power button).
Then you should get to the Hboot screen (white back), in there you should have the option to go to recovery...
As long as you can get to recovery ,your perfectly safe (even if just the hboot page)...In here you can reinstall a new ROM.
You can do so by going to mounts and storage , and choose mount usb storage (or something; make sure your connected to the PC with the USB)..
Your phone should now be connected to your pc Via your SD card..
Just download a new ROM, and then put it somewhere in your SDcard and after that, choose install zip from SDcard and select the ROM file you just transfered.
ANd unfortunately but, if you cant get passed recovery..I believe there would be no way to back up any phone/internal data .
If he wanted to back up some data as long as he has AR 5.1.6 still he should be able to reflash the rom w/o a full wipe to try and get the phone to boot so he can back up.
Some times it works sometimes it doesn't.
Just boot into hboot , then from there get to recovery. Once in recovery, you should now be able to use adb (if fastboot is working, it should see the phone in recovery).
Now put the rom in the platform tools folder(or whereever your tools/adb is (not sure if your using Linux or windows but this should work with either. Now open a terminal to platform-tools(or like earlier, whereever adb and now the rom are) now -
adb push nameofrom.zip /sdcard
nameofrom.zip has to be exactly what the name of the rom is you put in the location that has adb in it.
It will take a few min. to push the whole rom, when its done flash it.
This is all assuming you don't have adb in your enviorn . path- it can be done a little differently if you have it in your path in windows or Linux, but this way will work either way.
Or use fastboot to flash a new system.img, but you'll have to find one or make one- don't know where.
Di11's method is fine, but pardon me if im mistaken, can't he, since he's able to boot into recovery, plug his cord in>mount usb storage>transfer rom to sdcard>unmount>and wipe data/cache/dalvik/flash rom? it would seem easiest
Ya, sometimes I've noticed in the past when ****s all muffed up it wont wanna mount as USB storage. (Dont know why but it happens)This works every time.

I got your 10 char right here

GS7 SM-G930V will not boot not even into recovery.

Hello,
One day the GS7 froze up on me and then refused to boot again. When I turn it on, it goes to a black screen and the LED flashes blue.
Trying to boot into recovery, I see: recovery booting, and goes into a loop, sometimes it starts to vibrate and will not stop until I pull the battery.
I can boot into odin mode, download mode, but I'm unsure what I can do from here.
My goal is to pull a few files that I had "backed up" to the SD card, only to find out now that it was the internal storage. I think the naming screwed me up.
What can I do? Is there anything I can do to recover these files?
The phone is rooted, I honestly can't remember what method I used but looking back at my old "GS7" folder, I see this file: Nougat_S7_Root_2_82_All_Carriers_V2.zip. I'm assuming this is what I used to root.
Thanks

If it's rooted then install TWRP with Odin, boot into TWRP (a much better recovery) then wipe cache only in TWRP (nothing else) and reboot phone.
Lots of guides here how to install TWRP and how to use.
Looks like a softbrick....
Install these drivers https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=11410963190603862036
And then run this to get back into download mode. https://mega.nz/file/6NEz2I7Q#df-ITxjS0w7YZJmn1_dSoqil7KWgzYmuvLNss-qTePg
Select your model and run the G930XU5_Recovery.bat , then select the com port number that your phone has. Should show in device manager.
Thank you for the help and insight.
I'll give this a try. Hopefully ...
