Want some bloat back (Droid 2) - Droid 2 Android Development

Well I deleted some bloat without backing it up. Could someone give it back to me? I deleted Amazon mp3, Blockbuster, and Cityid.
On another note, do I just reinstall it when its time for a update or do I need to put them in the system/app folder?
Thanks

You can install all of those from MarketPlace. Atleast the Blockbuster and Amazon MP3.
I am looking to reinstall the 3G hotspot thing. Anyone know where I can find that?

Are you sure they are the same as the ones that came preloaded on the phone that are locked in the system folder? I want to be able to reinstall for when there is a new system update.

Check the system dump in the Themes & Apps forum

Thank You.

Auto install after Wipe

smeone has probably already thought of this, but incase not i wanted to throw it out there, back on windows mobile we had the ability to set up SDconfig to instal our cab files after we flashed a new rom, saving us time on doing it ourselves. has anyone started to write a script to automatically grab apps from the market if we have to wipe our phone, i have had to wipe my phone 3 times in less than the month thati've had it and it's a bit of a hassle to try and find all the apps from the market again. just wondering if anyone had any idea on how to do this. i'm not that good at the whole coding thing but it would be great if this was implemented somehow.
You could always copy the apk files and do an "adb install x.apk" after a wipe.
The other option right now is to use ASTRO to back up all your apps. Download it in the market, it will copy all of your apps to your SD. Unfortunately you have to reinstall one at a time, but it puts them all in a list. Between this and Mybackup I don't lose anything when I wipe my phone except for data created by individual apps. I am sure I could back this info up too, but it just isn't important to me. Hope this helps.

So make an update.zip with all your apks and favorite theme rolled-up. This way you can image your phone and then apply the update and you are set...
Or you can simply roll your own build of your image with your applications/themes already applied so you have a "live" image (so to speak).

[Q] How to remove bloatware on unrooted inspire

Hey. I did a search and didn't find an answer to this question. I just got my Inspire last week and am still working up the courage to root it since it is my only phone, and I don't want to brick it.
So in the meantime, how do I uninstall apps that I don't want/ need that are on the phone? Things like blockbuster and friendstream, and stocks? The phone wont let you uninstall them in application manager, and I tried creating a folder to move them out of the /system/app folder so they wouldn't run on restart, but it won't let you move them either. And, of course, since it isn't rooted yet, Titanium backup won't work either.
Is there a way to get rid of these apps that I don't want that are stock on the phone?
Thanks!

Thats why we root, my friend. Grab the hack kit and jump in. There are stock Roms that are rooted and already have the bloat removed. And then you can try some other Roms... lots of good stuff out there.

Running the GB Stock ROM with BW removed. Works great!!!

Application Installer from HK ROM

Hey everyone!
So I bought my Play from Hong Kong 4 months ago and it's working great here in the Philippines. Now, I'm already on 4.0 UK Generic ROM to take advantage of the preserve-root-via-OTA trick but as everyone will know I lost some of the apps from HK ROM and some apps are added because they are by default packed with the UK ROM. There was this app from the HK ROM called Application Installer which, as the name implies, is a very simple application that when launched finds all APKs saved on your SD Card and from there you can select to install them. I missed that application because of it's simplicity and straight-forward job. I just can't live with going through File Managers only to install a single APK every time.
Now, will anyone be kind enough to upload here the specific Application Installer APK (can't remember the exact name) extracted from the system/app directory of the HK ROM for Xperia PLAY? I'm already on UK Generic and it would be pain in the butt to reflash again the HK ROM, extract a single apk, then flash back to UK Generic.
Thanks in advance everyone!
PS: If it's in the wrong section, somebody move this please?
Didn't read correctly, ignore.

huh?
was it something i did?
anyone? please?
do you have a HK based ROM? tried looking from it and extracting from it?
as i have said on my first post, i was previously on HK ROM, but now on UK Generic, but flashing back just to get a single apk is not an option as i have lots of apps already installed, settings already set, and virtually no time to do backups, flashing and reflashing, and rooting, and OTA all over again... i could have done that already and not asked here if it was possible for me..
anyone? please? please? need it so badly...
I have the app in my phone, instructions needed for me to extract from my phone and you'll getting it soon enough
you only need root friend, and with the help of Root Explorer or any file manager app that can read through system/app directory, you will find the apk file, copy (NOT CUT) it somewhere in the SD then post it here..
wats the name of the apk? GenericApplicationInstaller? PackageInstaller? I came across this 2, i'll just post it and you try it for yourself okay?
but i have both of those on my system..
and those two don't have specific icons..they use the generic Android icon for apk's..
i remember it having its own icon for itself.. sigh..
how bout this? i have another called CustomizedApplicationInstaller.
If i may ask, what is so desperately needed about this app.
As far as i can tell from your story only thing it does is a batch installaton of apk's.
Ad itÅ› not like you are flashing a new rom every day i suppose.
Just use titanium backup, you can make a backup of all your apps with all settngs and data preserved. it saves it to your sd card, and you can run a batch restore wich restores all your apps.
cause is quite convenient as it searches all the apks you have in your sd card and list out for you so that you won't need to look for every single apk if you wanna install them...........
why dont you use something similar from the market?
beats me, ts wants that, i have it but i have no idea where it is
i already made my point.. i don't have to explain again..
ps: my signature really makes sense..
any ways to pull out from titanium backup?
nvm i think i found it, try this
my oh my just how can i thank thee good sir?
heartache healed!

[Q] Request for deleted files trying to cleanup bloatware.

After rooting my phone I decided to cleanup some of the bloatware that was installed. After removing several items I found that my Contacts and Phone app now FC every time I try to interact with them. I have restored all the apps but for some reason my Titanium Backup is missing/lost two apps I need to get it working again. I have searched but cannot find a full system dump to pull them out of.

If anyone has these apps backed up and can post I would be greatly appreciative. Please make sure you clean the contacts up b4 you send as they MIGHT have personal info in them and we don't want/need that can of worms.
This was posted by somebody else with all of the system files. I'm going to take the plunge and D/L it all.

Please give this person thanks if it works for you!
Perfect Thank you for the link. I thanked the OP as well.

[Q] Update to v55.13.25 after rooting?!

I ve removed some system apps like twitter n flickr. Can i update my device to the version v55.13.25 from the previous firmware without any issues ???
How did you remove the apps? Its better to freeze them and defrost before an official update. If it were me and I'd removed the apps completely and I liked where my phone was at and I didn't wanna flash the fxz I'd find those apps and re-install them. If you go that route make sure your permissions are correct when you place the apps back into the system folder.
The End.
Okay I've zipped the twitter and Flickr files and uploaded to my drop box if you want them. They're stock odex files. The two files for each app (.apk and. odex) are in folders. So after extracting their folders you can place the files in /system/app folder and change permissions once there. Let me know if you want the links to the downloads.
The End.
I just noticeD you're from India. You might want files from the India ROM yes? Are you on stock odex or a custom ROM?
The End.

Removed them through system app remover. Will a hard reset restore those apps? Its an ATT model with their firmware not the Indian one..
Oh I see. I don't know what I was thinking. You can do a factory reset to get those back. You will loose all of your data in the process so backup your data and only format your SD card if you have that all stuff backed up to a PC.
The End.
Wait. What's "system app remover"? Is that an app? I'm confused. I've done so much to this phone with swapping ROMs and moving system files around via Root Browser that I'm not even clear about your issue.
FWIW I've recently come full circle and currently use the stock 2.3.6 odexed ROM. I use Twitter and Flickr too. Sorry. I think I've confused myself here ha-ha. Somebody please address the OP. lol.

Yes! it`s an app...To be clear i uninstalled those apps after rooting my A2 with the "system app remover" . Will the OTA update work even though the
i`ve removed those apps beacause the update might be for those apps as well and will i lose root if updated to the new firmware
NO, do not try the update if you have deleted any system .apk's.
This is probably the easiest way to do it:
1) Install CWM through the bootstrapper if you haven't done so yet.
2) Boot into CWM and make a backup
3) Flash the fxz (scroll down a bit)
4) Once the phone boots up, log in to your google account and do whatever else you need to do. DO NOT uninstall any applications (even if they're uninstallable) and DO NOT root.
5) Go to Settings -> About Phone -> Software update. Make sure you're connected to wifi and install the update!
6) Once your phone has updated, re-root it, install CWM, and restore the backup you made.
Hope this helps, good luck!
Yup. What cogeary said. How embarrassing. Its just been one of those days where I should just keep my mouth shut. Not in a bad way. It IS my birthday, and the moon is closer to the Earth than it will be for a good while. Ha-ha. Seriously, cogeary knows his stuff.
