Keyboard - Galaxy S I9000 Accessories

Has anyone managed to pair a bluetooth keyboard with their phone yet?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App

I've yet to get my hands on one to try. I've just ordered a zeemote for a laugh, here's hoping they sort out the bluetooth drivers soon

i'll need to find a BT keyboard before i can test this out, i want to find out too

I unsuccessfully tried pairing my Logitech DiNovo mini to my SGS.

I can pair my iGo ultraslim, but won't do anything beyond that... No HID bluetooth profile support sadly, there is SPP bluetooth profile support so some peripherals will work (I think the Freedom BT keyboard should work).

Bump, I am really having a headache as I sold my HD2 - I cant pair my SU-8W nokia bluetooth keyboard with my i9000 - which used to work with my N95 and my HD2 (sold grrr)
I really need a fix for this if anyone can advise
Blueinput crashes when I load it, which is meant to give support for these keyboards.
Wont even start just errors out.
I installed Keypro but this doesnt seem to do anything on the galaxy either....
THanks all!

You're probably stuck until the cyanogenmod team releases their ROM for the Galaxy S, which should have HID bluetooth profile support...

exactly, it's not really a problem
what you really need is a Driver that supports the Human Interface Driver (HID)
appears that it's not build in on Android 2.1

Keyboard Peripherals

Dell Streak is lucky to happily work with bluetooth keyboards (see on Engadget). For the Nexus One, I don't think this will work out of the box. The best solution I found so far is BlueInput.
Can you recommend portable keyboards and keyboard drivers? The Apple keyboard isn't so portable and affordable while BlueInput is sort of expensive.
So you mean to say that the Apple Keyboard actually works with the N1 with the BlueInput driver?
Yep http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=629416&highlight=apple+keyboard
Just to point out that that thread (that I started) is about using an apple keyboard with the "hidd" binary, not "blueinput" which I bought and found unuseable.
I'm currently using a cm6 daily and find the built-in BT-HID support to be fantastic.
...on everything except the apple keyboard (but I already knew that the apple keyboards aren't quite straight HID)
I'm currently using a slightly hacked up one of these:

If I were you I'd just wait for the release of cm6, it looks pretty schweet.

CM6 has Bluetooth HID keyboard support?? Coolness!
What keyboards would you recommend for that?
I'm currently using this:

With the back shaved down as it's a bit thicker then it needs to be.

I am looking to buy a portable keyboard for on-the-go office document editing. This is something that is important to me, and I would rather purchase the correct peripherals then try to find a workaround for my HID keyboard.
What out of the box keyboard will "just work" with the N1? If anyone knows of a specific model that would be great. Or some guidelines. Will the SSD palm type keyboards work out of the box?
Just for those who are interested in BT keyboards but don't follow CM's bugtracker. CM6-RC2 fixes the problem with apple bluetooth keyboards. I now find myself popping it out and using my N1 to edit documents on the train (that I sync using dropbox)
It is _awsome_

You meant, you're using the Apple keyboard, right?
wildmonk's new kernel (in the dev subforum) also has the fix for using Apple bluetooth devices. haven't had the chance to try out a bluetooth keyboard, but thinking it's all the excuse I need to buy one.
I'm looking into purchasing the Logitech DiNovo Mini Bluetooth HTPC keyboard+mouse, in a couple weeks.
Will report into this thread as soon as they arrive with hopefully a demo video to go with it.

Bluetooth Keyboards

Hi all,
Does anyone have access to the test .apk that Blueinput released that might let me use/test this with my samsung Galaxy S?>
It doesnt seem that their live .apk on their site will work with every device.
Or maybe there is a better option somewhere that I am not aware of.
Anyone have any luck using other methods to connect a bluetooth keyboard to their Android handsets?
I am rather disapointed that I have been unable to pair my Nokia SU-8W with my Sammy
I am doing the bulk of my mobile typing with my N95 8Gb (paired with su-8w) now that I have sold my HD2.
This is a nuisance as:
a/. the notes application really sucks and doesnt give me much in the way of layout options
b/. the screen is 320 x 240 and just not as nice to read....
Can anyone advise me?
Thanks
XxJPM froyo has given me full bluetooth mouse and keyboard on my galaxy s . This is good rom people.

[Q] Apple Wireless Keyboard

Hey everyone, i posted this at android central with no answer, though to see if you guys had any suggestions.
Just purchased an apple wireless keyboard to pair with my rooted (super clean + stupid fast kernel) fascinate. I've been looking around and saw that JP Bluekeyboard supports the apple wireless keyboard, so i gave it a shot..
well what do you know, it didn't work for me, everything on how to set it up goes great except that when i try and input, it goes "connecting" and straight to "disconnected".
anyone have any luck with this software or know of any other bluetooth keyboard applications?
I don't know about the Apple Keyboard, but I was trying to get my wiimote to connect to my phone and found out that our phone doesn't support some bluetooth profile that is required for it to work. It might be the same deal with the keyboard.
Bluetooth HID Profile
I did the same exact thing and after researching found that the bluetooth stack in the galaxy s series is a little different in that it doesn't include HID profile support aka no support for the wiimote or the apple blue tooth keyboard. Apparently they are looking to add this with the froyo update, but for me it couldn't come sooner.
yeah, i remember reading something saying cyanogenmod would enable HID, and of course cyanogenmod is based for froyo, and they don't seem to be willing to start working on something for the fascinate until froyo comes out...
so lets hope froyo makes this purchase not completely useless..
HURRY UP FROYO!
The apple keyboard and the Wii mote will work with froyo, I had no problem using the keyboard on my Dx before I sent it back.

I wasn't able to get it to work either.
It was on-and-off again with my Windows PC. I found that the Apple USB keyboard is perfect for Windows. My wife bought me the Apple Bluetooth keyboard instead last Christmas, but it, sadly, doesn't work on anything that I own.
I definitely want to know if any of y'all get it to work. I was planning to keep trying, but based on the information here, it appears that my time would be better used somewhere else for now.

[Q] mini bluetooth keyboard

Is anyone tried mini bluetooth keyboard from ebay its so confusing that it would work or wouldn't. I asked some sellers some say it will work some will not work, one one seller posting says it would not work with Android 2.2 Any input on this issue I appreciated.

I don't think it will work with our phones. From what I understand, we have BT 2.1 but HID enabled BT is 3.0 at least.

No, the problem is just that Android doesn't have proper drivers for HID. I've been using bluetooth keyboards forever on my old Windows Mobile devices, so I know it's not a problem with bluetooth version. More importantly, no bluetooth keyboard would even benefit from the BT 3.0 spec - 2.1 is just fine. This is true (as far as I know) for all Android devices, except maybe for the Galaxy Tab, where Samsung may have taken time to make bluetooth HID drivers. Not 100% sure on this, but last I saw, Android doesn't natively support bluetooth HID.
It's a shame too - these large screened, high-res devices (especially the EVO with it's built in kickstand) would make great note taking, IM/email devices when paired with a portable keyboard. Would be a great notebook/netbook replacement and/or supplement.
So buying me one of those mini bluetooth keyboard is not gonna do any good for me, some vendors saying specifically android on their title, and one vendor responded that yes epic and evo will work, or its just a scam.
dito33
There's a company that sells a thirdparty app to use Bluetooth SPP profile keyboards on most Android phones, but most new Bluetooth keyboards only do HID. HID should work on the Epic when CM6 is ready, but it's unlikely to ever work on an Epic w/stock ROM.

bluetooth gaming solution

hi all, i was just thinking, recently i got a dinovo mini bluetooth keyboard and intend to use it with my captivate...
thing is, if we can use a normal hid profile keyboard with the captivate (and its special bluetooth stack), shouldn't a common pc bluetooth gamepad also be able to connect? or HID profile is not enough? ps3 and wii controllers dont work because they don't connect with just hid...
am i wrong? i dont own any bluetooth gamepad but i would like to know if it could be possible
thanks in advance
peace
Good question ill be following this thread.

Just installed CM7, and tried the Wii Controller IME.
IT WORKED! I haven't gotten it to work with any of the emulators (NESoid, SNESoid, psx4droid), but this is an encouraging first step!
yeah, thing is CM7 is not "pure" captivate, i understand the benefits of that rom, but for now i dont intend to flash it, sticking with cognition for now...
so... CM7 uses a different bluetooth stack apparently (bluez?) with better compatibility, but what i wanted was a simple pc gamepad that uses HID... BUT it doens't exist lol...
i started to google around and in fact there is almost no pc bluetooth gamepad, most wireless ones are RF and the only one i found was a weird thing that MSI released...
so... back to ps3/wiimotes/etc....
or to wait for the bluetooth gamegripper
Bluetooth keyboard and mouse works on my captivate using stock stack. Don't know what profiles were in use though.

I got a zeemote off ebay, and after downloading the bluezIME off the android market got it to work with all my emulators! Has anybody bought and tried this icontrolpad??? The Zeemote is just too small for my hands its difficult for me to play games with, so im still looking for a good controller.
As I am still on the hunt for a good bluetooth controller for my cappy, I got a second zeemote for some multiplayer action on my emulators! I am not getting the BluezIME to connect to more than one zeemote at the same time? does anybody know if there is a way to sync both zeemotes? or possibly install BluezIME twice for each controller?
