Which microsd to get? - Galaxy S I9000 Accessories

Hey there,
Im looking on ebay to buy a 32microsd card but not sure which to get some say TF and some dont, which do you guys recomend for this phone
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App

I'VE bought on ebay twice, Sandisk SD and MicroSD, and both times they proved to be counterfeit - the crazier part was, they looked real - fortunately sandisk has a page on their web showing the idiosyncrasies to the counterfeit cards out there
something like that i'd suggest buying from a reputable dealer like newegg.com etc
just a suggestion
and there's a thread already started on this topic with some interesting info in it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=693445

What Larry said; don't buy memory from ebay, it's too easy to counterfeit and you have no idea what you are getting.

is that not illegal?
to sell something that isnt advertised that way

yes it's illegal, but there are so many folks doing it it's impossible (i assume) to arrest them all
both of the sellers i bought from had real high "positive feedback" on ebay (one had 10,000+ positive)

I bought my 32gb sandisk from ebay, here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270601021356&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

yours might be legit but check this thread
http://communities.sandisk.com/sandisk/board/message?board.id=ultra2&message.id=28
forget whether it was on ebay or on sandisk's site but there are so many fakes, one of the two sites had photos showing legit ones side by side with fakes so you could see the subtle printing differences on the cards
the two i got would work, but were slow as hell writing

Buyer Beware: eBay Micro SD cards

Don't be an idiot like I was.
Before you buy any micro SD cards on eBay, make sure the seller is *not* listed on this website:

In fact, if any mods are listening, could you please pin this thread? I know some of the forums for other devices have threads on this subject, but if they sink, nobody will get the warning.
Thanks.
or you could just avoid buying flash from ebay all together.
Whatever works.
I was wandering around my hometown yesterday pricing 16GB cards. The cheapest price in a shop was EU80 -- nearly $100.
I believe there are reputable sellers on ebay selling for less than half that.

I got my 16gb card for 2.50$
That's great, but be careful. The biggest scam out there is 2 and 4gb cards programmed to look like 16gb to your operating system. The only way to test them is with a free utility called h2testw.
Hopefully your card is a good one. Mine turned out to be 2gb.

There are a lot of Kingston 32GB microsd cards being sold out of the US via Ebay for $199+, and they're all fake. Only Sandisk have released the 32GB versions.
Be warned..
For those in the US, just buy from Newegg. I got 3 16 GB microSD cards for $41 apiece.
you can also tell by filling up the card
if it doesn't go past 2gb, it's not a 16gb card

Amazon for flash
I prefer to buy from Amazon as they tend to shift the fake sellers off the marketplace quickly.. just bought a 16gb micro for £21.00

Better to wait...
I've not touched eBay memory cards since I bought a Sony from a 'trusted' seller. Turned out to be a cheap knock off. I had my money back in a day after suggesting to the seller that I'd be contacting Sony's fraud investigations team if I didn't get prompt action.
Then I contacted them anyway

They "Weren't just Selling them".
Their supplier sent them a batch of fake CPUs. Once new-egg discovered the error, they refunded money and offered discounts and also dropped the supplier.
It was clearly an accident.

wth. You sound like you work for a certain political spin machine.
Clearly, anyone with half a brain, can see that Newegg expediently rectified the situation. If anything, this situation with the bunk processors would put Newegg in an even more trustworthy position than they were prior to this unfortunate incident.
i recommend newegg we have 4 a-data 16gb class 6 cards from them.. work great.. stay away from 16gb sandisk cards.. i have had 5 failures with these (their 8gb cards work fine though)

I bought two Sandisk 16gb Class 6 cards for £40 each from a Asian in Canada. When I received, I benchmarked them & found that they didn't even perform at a class 2 level.
I put on a claim on ebay & contacted seller. The seller said that there are alot of fakes on ebay & that I has sold thousand in his store without any complaints. I got a full refund.
I bought a Genuine Team 16GB Microsd Class 6 from another seller ebay id: taiwanlien. I have benchmarked it and everything.
If anybody does want to buy memory from ebay buy it from this seller taiwanlien.
Thanks

Micro Sd help buying off ebay uk

Heyy
I wanted to buy a micro sd card in UK for.my nexus one possibly 16gb or 32gb...i looked over at ebay and price of 32gb is.quite weird as its only under £25 and 16gb is of about £20...has any of u bought it from ebay uk before?? I need to be sure if the.cards.are not fake
Thanks
90% of them are fake so be careful do research and go on and buy one if you like to gamble.
Agreed.
It's probably fake. Most people are not stupid. Even if they are not tech savvy they can easily find out what an item is worth and charge appropriately.

[Q] Would this SD Card be ok?

Saw this 32GB on eBay just now and it's an absolute steal for that price.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160525594986
Just wondering whether it'd work in my phone (i9000), and whether it'd work well. I know that it's not gonna be great quality, but I was thinking about just sticking music and bits like that on it so I don't need to carry around an iPod with me too.
Check the feedback.. There is a lot of bad feedback, and it seems to be mostly for computer products. Mostly all of their good feedback is from jewelery sales.
Assuming it is an original product though, yes.
Yupp, thanks for pointing that out to me. Comments seem to say the stuff is fake.
its fake don't buy it
Almost all of those "deals" on flash memory on ebay are fake. You'll end up getting a 1 or 2gig card that is made to look like a 32gig card. Don't buy it.

The Chinese writing on the packaging screams "FAKE!"
I wish somebody or some organisation would take eBay to court for being an accessory to fraud. Perhaps they would stop allowing this then. Look at these guys feedback it is obvious there is a serious problem.
I wouldn't be afraid of buying it. if its fake, i'd sent it back, and get all your money back. ebay and paypal is really good at it. never lost any money on fake stuff yet.
i bought a 32gb "supposed" sandisk one from ebay before christmas, came from China, when it arrived the packaging was awful, but the card worked.............for around 30 seconds, tried putting anything on it and it died and was no longer showing up on anything
basically they are naff, you may get one that lasts for a while, i personally wouldnt bother, i paid £11 for mine, it took 6 weeks to get here, worked for less than a minute, and took 5 weeks for a refund due to the utterly awful postage service returning it to China

[Q] Fake ebay micro sd card and paypal claim

Hi, i just had a (bad?) idea, since there is a lot of fake micro sd card on ebay and people are being scammed, i were wondering how paypal are handling the fake claims? Do they actually refund you the cards? Or do they need you to send the fake card back? Were just wondering if it would be possible to actually buy a 32gb fake card (which should be around4/8gb?) and actually having a total refund for it since it is not as advertised? (free fake 32gb SD?) Yeah, i know it sounds crazy but scamming a scammer is it so bad?
So were just wondering to the ones who actually got scammed and filed a claim... Is it such a pain in the butt or could it actually be done?
Well just a though i had...
hey there,
do you think thats fake : h t t p : / / cgi.ebay.co.uk/32GB-MEMORETTE-MICRO-SD-SDHC-CARD-CLASS-10-FREE-Adapter-/230588940502?pt=UK_AudioTVElectronics_PDAsAccessories_MemoryCards&hash=item35b02c00d6#ht_4977wt_717
(remove the spaces)
i wish it is not fake.
The fake micro sd card scam works on ebay because in almost every case it'll cost more for the buyer to send the card back then what they paid for it. Paypal won't refund your money until you have proof the item was received by the seller. This usually means tracking and signature is required when you ship it back. Most of these fake sellers are from china or hong kong which with the tracking/signature requirements ends up costing $20+ which you don't get back when you get you're refund.

I've had experience of fake SD cards bought on ebay.
I was cought myself about 4 years ago, it took ages and eventually I got a full refund and got to keep the card.
Recently a couple of friends had the same problem, this time both got full refunds almost immediately.
I was given the task of trying to reformat to a usable state...
However unlike fake usb memory, which can be reformatted quite easily, with freely available software, SD cards seem to be practically impossible to reformat correctly.
I have on "16 GB" card that I have managed to use as 512MB, but even that causes arror and data loss at random points.
I bought a card that turned out to fake, so I contacted the seller and threatened to report them to ebay and paypal and I got a refund. Kept the card too.
don't even bother with ebay to anyone looking at this thread. I just found out that my card is actually a 8gb card said to be 16gb (i believe they can resize it so the phone thinks its 16gb?) and once i passed 8gb nothing saves on my sd card, and I went back to get my refund but the user is no longer a member! lucky for me...
yup, here is another victim

just a few post down
Paypal Australia requires that the item be returned with an online tracking number. Minimum cost to China, $50.
The system seems to be set up specifically to penalise the victim.
After all, that way Paypal gets to keep their commission.

As much as I dislike PayPal, it's really not set up to hurt the victim. Who would sell using PayPal when, in the event that someone simply "claims" that item is a fake or not as advertised, they get completely screwed over? I definitely would not be setting up an online business when each and every buyer I have can click a few buttons and receive a full refund and the product he purchased, coming straight out of my pocket.
It's not to rip off the buyers, but sometimes it's hard to please everyone.
Hmm I bought an 16 GB card on eBay but during the uploading of the data on it I noticed the card had already a name and some files on it...So it was not new at all!
A simple mail to the vendor was enough to receive another, new, card and a stamp to send the first card back...
The vendor had a spotless score...
I think you always take a risk while buying on eBay...
I found a great deal on a 64gb micro SDXD card on ebay for $13. The card works fine but is really only 32gb. Although disappointed, I didn't bother sending it back because $13 is still a lot cheaper than I can buy a 32gb micro SD card locally. However, after reading a number of posts it appears that the modify these to read like they are full capacity but begin overwriting data once they reach their real capacity. I see many for sale in the same white and blue packaging and won't buy one again. What amazes me is the high seller ratings these guys seem to have on Ebay.

They said they are sending me the adaptor seporatly. Not sure why. Here is the email i got through them from amazon.
Hello There My Friend, I Wish that everything is great and You Are Okay, Be Noted that You will get 2 Shipments or 2 Package the first will have the SAMSUNG Micro SD 128gb And the Second will have the Adapter for the SD, If You face any problem with our items Just let us know here and we will solve any problem according to your wish and as you like, Thank you And best wishes!
good to know youre getting a fake adapter with your fake card lol.
It could be that a version of this is sold overseas, which does not include the sd card adapter.
However, what does worry me is the text for '128' looks slightly off imo. You can notice it more with the '2', but it seems a little stretched or elongated vertically.
I would try some sd card benchmarks
Find out easily... http://www.heise.de/download/h2testw.html
Looks fake. I purchased the same card from Amazon (ships & sold by Amazon) and it came with the adapter. If it was shipped from a third party it more then likely is fake.
Plus, why would your model number be 16D when it's a 128GB card?
Here's the one I got:
YEAHP, it's fake lolol. Time to call amazon and my credit card.
Money credited back to my account including my points. Knew amazon would back me up as well as my credit card, so i took a shot at it.
I never, ever buy flash memory from amazon or ebay... 99% of them are fake. You are pretty much stuck buying from authorized resellers as there are so many fakes you are more likely to get a fake one than not (most people just don't know it yet because they didn't hit the upper limit of the actual storage capacity which has been faked).
