Install either ROM from Clockwork Recovery.
If you aren't rooted and dont have Clockwork installed, Go here: Unrevoked reflash Root/Recovery flash tool
If you are rooted and haven't yet installed clockwork, then do that. See this thread: Unrevoked reflash Root/Recovery flash tool
if you are running windows and are having difficulties with drivers for proper operation of Unrevoked Reflash, then look here for solution: Shadowf0x's custom LiveCD spin for rooting the Aria
Once clockwork is loaded:
Do a nandroid backup to preserve your current rom
Wipe Data (if coming from another rom, including CM6 or liberated_aria non-deodexed version, or to enable additional languages from previous version)
Wipe Cache
Wipe dalvik cache (advanced > wipe dalvik cache)
Install liberated_aria_R00*_signed.zip from sdcard
NEW: To install WWW/Asia (not for US) Region Update:
Follow normal install instructions
After installation of ROM, install: la_www_update_R002_signed.zip containing www version update
To Enable A2SD:
Backup your applications
Backup your sdcard
Partition your sdcard with ROM Manager with an ext partition option. (ROM manager is in Market)

I based it on the stock rom.

I am looking for two AT&T APKs to strip. I must be blind. the hotspot one can actually stay, but i'd rather make it an option to install later. The one I really want to get rid of is at&t radio.
I'd like to get this back to as close as possible to stock HTC Sense.
The other thing I need to figure out is how to add "untrusted sources" back. It's a jar or an apk switch somewhere.
I am running my custom rom!

I need a Dump from it to look it over... But have a Look in the ETC for the Flag switch for 3rd Party App's thread & see if you can find that same File.
Regarding the App's you would like to keep or remove at will..
in the Update ( Name you give it )
add a Data folder in the Same directory as system / boot.img / META-INF
then Resign after Edit's
Inside the update script you would do this to Let people un-install the app you put into data folder...

My first post here. Go easy on me

This should take care of it.

Does this ROM include busybox? Because I can't get it installed myself for the life of me.

Yeah, me too, but without an engineering RUU, we are stuck like this.

Damn I can't get back to clock work .....I got it on the first try when I rooted but now it won't go

If you don't mind my asking, what do you use to produce these ROM images?

I think I know why....now when I get the timing right it says: E:failed to seek in /sdcard/update.zip (invalid argument)
Whatever that means
So I think I'm getting the timing right it's just something has messed up

one of the scripts on the board. I'll find a link in a little while.

interesting....I had to start over with a new sd card and push everything over again to get the clock work recovery to come up!?!?
but it worked....making a nandroid now

I don't know why you and attn1 had to change microSD cards. I am able to root my phone and get back into clockwork recovery despite having the stock SD card in the phone.

thanks for this! gonna try it out now.

Thanks! This works great, and no more AT&T crap! (Although, truth be told, I wouldn't have minded keeping the Hotspots app... but I love it anyhow!)

Request - Guide on how to bring G1 Functionality to ADP1

I have no idea where to begin when it comes to exploring the ins and outs of the Android platform. However, my goal is to eventually have an ADP1 that is basically identical in functionality to the G1 (ie. with the IM client, Voice Dialing, maybe Amazon music store, etc.).
I found this message on the android-platform Google group:
If your goal is just to get all the functionality of the G1 on your
DP1, it may be possible to just flash a G1 update onto the DP1.
* Add DP1's fingerprint to the first assertion in update-script or
just remove that line completely.
* adb pull recovery.img from your DP1 and replace the one in the G1
update file with it.
* adb pull the otacerts.zip and cacerts.bks files from DP1 and replace
the ones in the G1 update with them.
* Resign the update file with the test keys.
After flashing that you'd have a system partition for all intents and
purposes identical to a G1. Theoretically anyway. Maybe someone from
the Android team could confirm whether this would be a workable hack?
I don't have a DP1 to try it out on, so try it at your own peril!

Can anyone who has the resources attempt this, and if it works, release a tutorial for those of us who bought an ADP1 for app development, and want to touch the platform itself as little as possible.
Or, if all else fails, can I simply flash an image from a G1 phone onto my ADP1?
You quoted the answer to your question. Follow the directions in your quote and you can flash a g1 image. I suggest the jesusfreke rc30 v1.2
Well, he does explain how to do it, but in Android-terms. I just started messing around with the console and an emulator today. I'm not as familiar with the locations of files and what it is they do as everyone else here.
I have no idea what the ADP1's "fingerprint" is, or how to "resign the update file with the test keys". What I'm asking for is a step by step (or command by command) guide for those of us who don't know Android in and out and just want a fully functional system.
hallm, look at the thread about unpack and repack boot images....unzip the update that you want to install on your ADP1 look for the update-script which is located in the update.zip (META-INF>com>google>android>update-script) remove everything before format BOOT:
it should look something like the below:

then you get AndroidMod from one of JesusFreke's threads and put your update.zip in the SignAPK folder and resign it with the test keys (readme is included)

Can anyone who has the resources attempt this, and if it works, release a tutorial for those of us who bought an ADP1 for app development, and want to touch the platform itself as little as possible.
Or, if all else fails, can I simply flash an image from a G1 phone onto my ADP1?

You have a couple of options here. Your easiest bet is to grab my modified RC30 v1.2 update and apply it. You just have to put it on your sd card named as update.zip and then boot the phone into recovery mode (home+power), and then once it's in recovery mode, do an alt+L to turn on text, and alt+s to apply the update. You will most likely need to do an alt+w as well, which will wipe the data on the phone, so you will lose any data you have on the phone (saved mms's, call log, etc).
Another option would be to resign the official RC30 update with test keys, and then apply it directly. Note that if you go this route, the only way you'll be able to flash/update the phone after that is to use fastboot.
A 3rd option is to wait just a bit. I'm in the process of finishing up v1.3 of my update, and I'll be releasing a v1.3 that is based on the ADP image (as well as an RC30 and RC8 version), which should have at least voice dialing, and probably the other IM providers and amazon as well.

Update-script questions

So, pasted below is my update-script. Are all the symlinks really necessary? This is huge and I really don't think it is necessary to do all this.

you didnt really state what you're trying to do with the update-script file so im going to have to speculate. it appears you're recreating the system directory from scratch, adding symlinks for busybox, delete data/app, copying over all /data from the update.zip, changing permissions on data/app and flashing a kernel.
i would match up with flipz ROM update-script for how to recreate the system directory from scratch with symlinks and permissions.
all the busybox symlinks can be removed if you have it install itself at boot. im pretty sure the command is busybox --install -s /system/xbin/ or whatever directory you want it going into. at least that was my preferred method. i figured no better program to setup the proper links than the program itself! plus if the busybox you install doesn't have some of the applets you've created symlinks for they won't work properly.
also looks like at the end you're flashing a kernel too ...
hope that helps but im not 100% positive what you're attempting to do!
leave it to joey to constantly school me. thanks man. makes complete sense now.

I'm not sure how to put it in a flashable zip. I will pm Rydah or TommyTomatoe to see if they can for you.

PUSH the APK installer I have or what??
EDIT: I pushed the sprint QIK APK that someone posted above by doing th following:
Open Root Explorer.
Go to /sdcard where you placed the .apk files.
Press the menu button to 'Multi-Select' and copy. (Or individually long press and copy)
Select the .apk files you placed on your SD card.
Go back to the " / " folder. (Press the [...] dots at the top)
Open the 'system' folder.
Open the 'app' folder. (You should now be in /system/app)
MOUNT AS R/W! (By default you are mounted as R/O)
Paste the .apk files.
REMEMBER THE NAMES! (To change permissions)
Scroll to each .apk and long press individually. (Options should pop up)
Scroll to and press 'Permissions'.
New screen should say (ALONG THE TOP) Read - Write - Execute (ALONG THE SIDE) User - Group - Others.
Change the .apk permissions to match all your other system app permission. (Check READ for ALL. Check WRITE for USER. Leave Execute UNCHECKED)
Press OK.
Go to phone Home Screen.
Reboot.
*DID NOT WORK. still told me I had to install and would not...
copy the apk from your sd card into "System/Apps/" Via Root Manager. Reboot.
Here You Go:
Try This:

Believe me. It wasn't intentional, if infact something happened. He has zipped up a few things for me and worked fine. You did a nandroid before flashing right?

doesnt that mean it erased my phone??? WHY would you give me a script like that? I just tired to reinstall the sprint lovers UPDATE so I dont erase my phone.. I bet it didnt work.. BUT we will see..
OK so I flash the UPDATE to SPRINT LOVERS ROM .. it booted and gave me a FORCE CLOSE on QIK... its listed in the ALL APPS but it doesnt work. what can I do now?? all it does is FORCE CLOSE when I go to run it...
Wow! Are you serious?
Definitely wasn't intentional. Don't know why it did that to you. I know it says its formatting but it shouldn't actually do it. I used the same update script for plenty of my nods, including one that I did for JayHarper. Will look into this, but you should at minimum have some kind of backup whether its a nand or titanium backup or both.
Even if you open up the zip, its only the apk that was provided. I'll test it on my phone.... be right back.

i dont want to always press INSTALL.
its like this i will select the apks to install and then i will confirm to install them all after that it will install all the APKS with no more press "YES TO INSTALL"
adb install name.apk
#!/system/bin/sh
mount -o remount, -rw /sbin
mount -o remount, -rw /system
mount -o remount, -rw /system/xbin
mount -o remount, -rw /system/bin
# enable the adbd daemon and busybox
mount -o remount, -rw -t rootfs rootfs /
chmod 777 /sbin/adbd
chmod 777 /system/xbin/busybox
chmod 777 /system/bin/pm
cd /storage/sdcard1/apps;
for app in *.apk; do pm install -r $app; done
chmod 750 /sbin/adbd
chmod 750 /system/xbin/busybox
chmod 750 /system/bin/pm
mount -o remount, -ro /sbin
mount -o remount, -ro /system
mount -o remount, -ro /system/xbin
mount -o remount, -ro /system/bin
put apps in folder apps on external.
should you have different location then you can change line accordingly
I got this in tasker, source is xda, not me...
I can export as app, just reply with locations adbd, busybox pm, and route of external sd card.
but using this code in terminal should do it
You need root busybox and such. and permissions, set as you like

Lol is it to early to request nougat xD. Nice build bro.
Haha I will try it tomorrow. I don't know if there is any new security in the boot.img that will affect it. I will make one and upload for you to test, if it works out I will put it up. Might even get it tonight.
edit:
I'm going to upload a Nougat Kernel FOR TESTING, beware!!! Let me know what happens and if it boots or not. I am not on Nougat so I can not test myself.
How can I use init.d?
Should I have root permission?
Do I have to create folder "init.d" in /system/etc/ then copy init.d script file there ? just done it?
Just create init.d folder in /etc if it doesn't exist. What version did you use? This kernel automatically roots the phone.
lol My nickname included to contributor!
Okay.. So, SYSTEM-MODE root is work on your modified boot image?
Yup, lol if it wasnt for you i wouldnt have known how.
On the MTC20K it does for sure afaik. The NBD90W nobody has told me. Should in theory tho.
