Yes, if ya can't find one anywhere, I can get you an official one from Softbank Mobile here in Japan for 1000yen which is about 13dollars American, and i know shipping is always 1500yen so for about 35dollars(give or take 5 bucks) American I can send you an official Toshiba MicroUSB adaptor specifically made for the TG01 or the Softbank X02T here in Japan, it might have Japanese writing on it though.

Yeh it is defo the tg01. the japanese version of the tg01 is the t01a. but the picture shows the tg01, but in silver which was never made, so that makes it abit unconvincing. this adapter looks sooo nice! it would be very nice at the side, and looks like part of the phone and wire free!

I agree, locks very nice !! It cost 1260 Yens , (11,36€ or 15,23$) so the risk is limited... the only problem is filling the order form in Japanese (even with google translator from google bar activated)! If any from there could help us....

Sure.... will do.
The next time I am at the Docomo store, probably next week or so, I will take a look and see if I can get in a few of them, we shall see. For now though, I know for certain that I can get the Softbank one, so just keep that in mind. Also, right angle short MicroUSB extensions are widely available on eBay. That Docomo version one does look sexxxy though.

yeh i cant seem to find one in the UK anyone know a shop/retail who stocks them? cheers.

Anytime my friend,
Hello Olyloh6696, remember.... if you ever need the adaptor, I can absolutely get it for you for probably 1,000JPY yen + 1,500JPY yen shipping, I am certain for about 30USD or 19GBP give or take a couple of bucks I can order you the real original cable. Those cool funky side cables look neat but, in all honesty, I am not certain they will work; did you see in the picture on the website that they put those cords into a multitude of cellular phones? That doesn’t make sense because I am fairly confident that the MicroUSB cable that Toshiba uses for their phones has something screwy with them that makes them kinda proprietary. Like you can't just buy a generic MicroUSB audio cable and plug it in a hope it works, I know that won't work, so seeing that cord in other phones in the picture makes me wonder. I mean.... anything is possible but maybe they made a mistake. I think if you really want the cable, the best thing is to get the original one from Softbank, and then when I ship it to you, you can be guaranteed it will work.
I can however order the small cable from the Japanese website for you and test it for you, but damnitt man if it doesn’t work, ya owe me a beer. Ahh ya won’t owe me nothing but, heheheh, my wife will be mad at me, and that ain’t good!

HTC New Photo app for the Touch

Have you guys seen anything like that ?
Or do we have a port for that app to the Wizard.
Youtube video
this would be a really nice app to have.
what do you think ?
I have not seen any port like that, but the guys over at www.pocketcm.com, are developing a new image viewing app, not as refined as the Touch one, but very similar and touchy. I have it installed and is really cool and free.
If you find it good enough consider donating to the author.
Nice app
this is very nice and looks like more features to come.
I was wondering if when the cube was bridged over and the other Touch like features came over was the picture app left on purpose or just no one cared for it ?
Wow it looks just like the iphone app. I guess htc is still trying to look like the iphone. If they release i hope they make it a little more smoother like the iphones.
Wow! Quick, someone hookup a laptop to that Touch and strip that app.
Nice..... looking forward for a rip....

yes there are some people that think that if it cost more, it will be better, even if they don't need all that 'better' stuff...
the scroll interface and this new image interface are some real benefits of the TouchFlo...the cube is just decoration and a bit overloaded...
I've seen this app. before.....
Oh yeah!, its a japanese application called picpie, and you can download it from here http://66.249.91.104/translate_c?hl=en&u=http://d.hatena.ne.jp/pieq/searchdiary?word=*%5BPicPie%5D. Watch the youtube video on this website before you try it.

the real benefit for me on a ppc is that there are thousands of programs that give an added value to your device. some really nice software like pocket informant, mobiledb, tv guide, novii remote, igo etc and this touch image viewer...all the ones you seem to hate
they all together make my (old) phone run slowly, but they can make it worth for me...withouth these you could just buy yourself an iphone...

3GSM - Mobile World Congress

Greetings from Barcelona
Well, 3GSM is underway, I was there yesterday and I must say it's absolutely great fun (the HTC Shift is sexy dot com) for some reason HTC are also marketing the Elf still, why I don't know.
Anyone else planning to get their arse over here before it's all over?
Cheers,

yeah it's great fun - i still say we should find a way to connect the two htc shifts with a usb cable
greetings from Barcelona too but you know that
take a look at spb mobile shell 2.0 for me, will you?
and please, tell us about it
uuhh.. yes... some pics from MobileShell 2.0 would be great!
while you guys are there whats the buzz on Opera Mobile 9.5. Haven't heard much reaction from it so far.
is it all about Sony Ericsson XPERIA ?
banesi, you'd wish
SPB Mobile Shell 2.0
any pics yet???
Any update on asus and eten v900
Guys and gals, do read my blog if you want to know the latest news from Barcelona - I've been posting a LOT of articles & shots on both Sony's XPERIA X1, Opera Mobile 9.5, the competition (Nokia, BB etc.), new stuff etc. I can't cross-post them in here or even follow the related thread because my connection is very-very restricted and expensive - sorry for you having to visit another webpage.
That is, don't forget to check out and regularly visit http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/ - even without my updating this thread. (Again, sorry, I can't cross-post my stuff and can't even regularly update my announcements.)

i hope their final version will be much better because it was running quite slow even after closing all apps on the poor HTC device it was being demoed on. :/ (there were a few more devices though, that i didn't get to try it on)
otherwise looked nice though options were lacking stuff, definitely an early beta
oh, by the way folks, the SPB stand was more like an SOB stand... no devices, just brochures and plonkers standing around.
Opera had actual devices of course, but Opera ran like a piece 'o' ****.
ok not to sound all negative...
a few things of the many i saw today:
sony ericsson xperia x1 demo, the thing does exist and it has some really slick animation!! hw design was pretty cool as well. the lcd looks great, keyboard i could not try, they didn't hand the device to me.
google android was featured at several semiconductor manufacturers but the real device was on display at TI's stand, looked exactly like the well known prototype! and it had a HTC serial no on it so definitely made by HTC. the GUI is the same we've all seen in the emulator, nothing new. keyb very easy to use one hand even if this is a prototype.
oh TI also had some other prototype device based on the same platform (i mean android), the browser on that thing was zooming in and out in an incredible way and incredibly good rendering of everything... i need to check if there was any specific name for it.
these were based on some OMAP, but they weren't bad speedwise - of course most linux mobile platforms i've tried are a bit slow launching an app, except maybe the motorola ming 1200.
that reminds me, i was shown a nokia N810 (not at 3GSM), the browser on that thing kills everything else regarding speed, in several aspects. (rendering speed, browsing around on the page while it is being loaded, opening links in new tabs etc)
and rendering was quite decent too.
anyway, other than improved browsing experience, there was a lot of demos and devices of rich multimedia experience (basically everyone from samsung to qualcomm), you can expect some serious **** on the market soon.
in any case, lots of promising linux platform demos, it was not all windows mobile after all. symbian didn't have much presence, but here i have to mention something: at their stand, they had the old psion epoc emulator running on a laptop! (if anyone here remembers psion) and a revamped modern version in another emulator, which i'd like to see if it ever gets used.
i remember one more thing right now, intel, some very interesting devices of their new platform, very small, and nice hw design (some LG with a ~4-5" screen and slideout qwerty, for example) but i could not try them.

I disagree with both. SPB Mobile Shell 2.0 was demonstrated by people in the stand on demand. So, I did get a chance to see it in action on HTC Trinity and it looks great, we'll all be installing it in a matter of weeks.
Opera ran just great on HTC Touch Cruise, so I have no idea what are you talking about.

Post from PPCgeeks:
"No, it is not here yet.
Both the HSPL (Flash Unlock) and SIM Unlocker are completed. The final things to be worked out are the mirrors and licensing server. I will let Cmonex explain the licensing herself in more detail, but the basics are that you get one license per person and can request another one or two if needed, but the basis is to prevent mass-unlocking by someone looking to make money off of their work.
Be Patient."
There saying sometime monday now
Not to gloat...but I called it. On Thursday last week someone posted a poll on PPCG of if you think it'll be out before or after some arbitrary time the OP chose for that night. I posted that it won't be out for another week...and certainly not by the end of this weekend.
If there is one thing you can count on the Elite Team doing in regards to this release....they will consistently blow their own self-impossed release dates. I think we'll be lucky to see it before Wednesday.

Not to mention greed, maybe one of you gentleman or lady for that fact can explain to me, why do they feel they should charge for HTC\Microsoft product they tweak?, I think in fairness they need to send the money to HTC after all it is their product; They truly don't need anyone making money off their hard work either!!

Because they spend hundreds of their own hours and their own dollars so that we can fully enjoy the hardware. It's actually philanthropic -- quite the opposite to greed.
Regardless of what we do with the devices HTC/Microsoft/your Telco have made all of the money that they expected to make.
In fact this software makes certain people more likely to buy the hardware because of what they can do with it, so it actually helps them by selling more hardware.
Running this software on it so that we can get additional functionality has no negative affect to their bottom lines, so why should they get any additional money when they have done no additional work?

looking for the mainboard of a 32A/32B to trace the JTAG pins

if someone has a water damaged or otherwise damaged beyond repair board of a 32A and or 32B consider sending it to me or someone else who's capable of tracing the JTAG pins so that we can find a solution for saving all those Magic's hanging at splash1/only booting to blue led mode.
so noone has a really broken 32A/B lounging around?
There'd be a ton of guys benefiting from this ;-)
i have bricked magic. i have a post with youtube video on what is happening when i turn it on.
i took it to reseller for warranty repair so if they give it back in the same condition i'll consider sending it to you...
but i am from Serbia, so i don't know, how and when the package would come to you...
and yes...it is 32A
I've a feeling this will get more traction on Chinese forums.

So do you still need this board or not?
Try checking with sanpei or some other Chinese devs who would actually care.
A lot of phone bricks in China, with shops replacing the motherboards and other components. A lot of the phones in the Chinese Android market are 3rd party refurbished phones based on parts from different phones, often resulting in non-matching IMEI = lots of spare parts floating around everywhere.
I'm not actually in China. I know a bit of Chinese and have been keeping updated with the market there.
But as I said a Chinese dev would know best. Otherwise try hiapk. They might even have the JTAG pinouts already, but in the past they too have gotten most of their info from xda, so I'm not sure. The reverse engineering market in China is pro.
There was also a dude who has a xray machine. That was supposedly a non-destructive way to check the board?

Who is being vague?
> The link Krzysiec posted links to bart9984 reporting a success of de-bricking the magic 32A (that is what you are asking about right)
> bart9984 then links to a very detailed descriptions of the steps based off my dream de-bricking
> tzitzu of this thread also linked (and made inline) the JTAG connection points of the Magic32A [this is the one you quoted in full and asked if it was also available for the Magic 32A]

hi ezterry ... i did not read the complete top and got stuck on your post saying not yet done for a magic ... so I got a whee bit confused !!
i will go thru the stuffs again ... i guess it is a mix between excitement and going for the unknown ...
now the biggest question is about the jtag ... i got a schematic called LPT2LVJTAG will that do the trick ? that will then connect the jtag with the pinouts from the pic tzitzu shows and the other side will connect to my computers lpt port.... and i would follow the directions set out by bart9984 here
sorry if i looked confused and like a headless chicken... i tend to get a tad bit excited when i am faced with learning something new and above all this will be the first time i am doing something like this.
so i wanna just say thanx to you brave brave people!!

Well I'm working on proper merged documentation: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/JTAG_DREAM_AND_MAGIC
may help link to all the little bits required if the directions on that page don't cover it..

hi, i just saw that page before i read your post ... that is a great write up....
quick question again ... the JTAG USB OCD Programmer is a little bit hectic on my budget since being in south africa importing is a nightmare and rather expensive... had a look for the part locally and the price they ask for is ridiculous ... is there any way that i can build my own? for some reason my GA-G33m-DS2R motherboard has a lpt port ...
will this work the trick ? LPT2LVJTAG_WIG
or maybe this: NXP-Phillips-ARM-ARM7-LPC2134-dev-board-JTAG-RS232-LPC

yep that one works; I've added some comments:

(otherwise scholbert is using that chip to run jtag on the dream; so can help)
I link to that post already on the wiki as a "low voltage wiggler clone"

That is just a development board not a JTAG adapter.. You use a Jtag adapter like ARM-USB-OCD or scholbert's parport wiggler clone to connect to it; and load/flash software on it;

like i said this is a new thing for me ...
so i can build and use scholbert's parport wiggler clone to connect my magic to the pc and then see if i can revive it ... i pretty much have all i need excep a few resistors and the 74LVC245 IC.
and in this case i wont need to get the ARM-USB-OCD.
thank you for you patience and guidance thus far ...

Qwerty Keyboard phone options

I have owned the HTC 8525 and now own the HTC Tilt 2 and I want to upgrade to another phone with a qwerty keyboard. I was wondering what options are out and/or coming out? I'm looking to get an android or something with WP7 and at&t is my carrier. Any input on this topic would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Eh? Lern2internet.
Or is google and Engadget too hard for you?
But while I'm at it let me spoonfeed you:
HTC G2
Motorola Droid 1/2
HTC Vision
HTC Desire Z
Google for more...srsly
No need to be a ****. I did use google but seeing as how this site is FULL of people who live and breathe mobile devices I figured that I would find more information here even after checking Google, Engadget, Gizmodo, GadgetU, GSMarena etc... If you come across any of my other threads and you feel the need to be a complete asshole just feel free to click the back button and pretend you never saw my thread. Thanks for the little help you provided anyway though. Have a good day lol
o'll suggest an HTC hd2 or desire..
they are great phones..

Ow, now my help is little, cause I called you out? LOL
It was such a simple and easily googlable question that deserved a much worse answer (or just ignoring) then mine + it's so bloody broad that at least 20 phones or more would fit it.
I answered cause I'm looking for a possible TP2 replacement and after I saw your question I actually googled it and came up with this in 5 min. So it's not that hard.

Agreed. Not the most helpfull answer Kosmarnik.
As it goes, you might want to look up the Samsung S Pro. The standard S model has reports of serious GPS issues however, the S Pro has been delayed so maybe thats to fix these issues?
I like the Desire Z but it´s only Android
Hope HTC launches a hardware keyboard device with WM so I´ll be able to run both OS in one device!!

Also why HD2 when you got Android HD2: Evo 4g?

Two things:
1.) Why get a EVO? They're overhyped. The HD2 has better RAM (Evo: 512MB HD2: 548 MB) and runs WM, plus, you can boot Android off of it and that in my opinion makes it better because you can have two fully functional OS's. The only thing Evo has over the HD2 is the 4G that not everyone can get in their area, and an 8MP camera.
2.) Really, if you have a problem with the person's question shut the hell up and get off his thread. XDA is supposed to welcome people and treat each one with respect. You make people feel unwelcomed. Either help the person out without criticism, or get a life and stop hassling people for their questions. Dickhead.
kosmarnik is probably the worst poster on this entire website. Seriously, there are autistic children with better communication skills than him.

Sure sure, but WinMo is a dead platform while Evo is a native Android device. If you can't get Evo, well, go for HD2, but otherwise you're just setting your self up for unneeded work/compatibility issues...
Also for most people just flashing a new rom is too hard, so running a dual-boot setup is out of the question.

I did not insult anyone, I merely suggested that he get's on with the times and learns to Google/Bing/Search forum, if in a tad jesting manner, but insult him I did not. Plus he called for any input on the topic
You on the other hand, rushed in with your whitekinghting and insults. Pfft. I fart in your general direction.
Searching before posting is just common sense.
Now, can we continue with the mourning of Rhodium and lamenting the lack of a decent successor?
And thanks to using the SEARCH BUTTON I found out that Desire Z/G2/Merge are the same phone: HTC Vision with different amounts of ROM! That clears up a lot, but leaves me sad.
Vision seems to use the Rhodium keyboard form, but only 4 rows??? Why do that? And no tilt? 800MHz?
Also, first reports say that the slide hinge is broken:

Ugh. Why HTC? Why?
Update: way to go darth_vato, more internet whiteknights to rescue the thread with their contributions! Now with free lame insults!
If you're looking for a hardware keyboard I'd recommend the HTC Desire Z because at 800mhz it's benchmarks are very near the 1ghz ones in HTC Desire/Google Nexus One. And it looks quite good with Sense UI.

Sorry, didn't realise you were also listing WP7. In that case, check out the Dell Lightining. In all honesty, as long WP7 holds up and does what I need (FULL Exchange) then this will probably be my next phone.
Only one serious concern, I understand that it might not work with SD cards at first release. I currently have a 32gb card full of tv progs, music and work data... this would be a deal killer for me Guess will find out for sure on Monday!
