Mobile Tag Funny clicking sound ? - XPERIA X10 Themes and Apps

hi all i downloaded mobiletag free from the Market last night and when i open it up i here a realy random sound comeing from my phone is anyone els getting this or is it just me ?

The clicking sound is most likely the phones zoom/focusing, if you look at your camera when you're running the app see if its moving slowly to other direction and then pops back where it started from, it happens to me on all of the barcode readers which is really annoying.

I have the same problem with mine, I installed all of the various barcode scanners on the market and everyone of them gave me the same problem. To me it looks as though the auto focus/zoom is looping itself. My housemate has the desire and the app works fine there

OK, this is not a problem with the phone nor the application!
It's the autofocus function that constantly works while the app is running in order to locate and "translate" a QR code. And I am pretty sure that this happens with EVERY phone that has auto-focus and runs these kind of applications. Maybe the autofocus in the Xperia is a little more noisy, but come on, the app does work fine. Jeez!

Actually I tested the app alongside my housemates and on the desire it scans the app and finds the product and mine hasnt even scanned it. I wait for about a min and my phone still hasnt scanned the barcode. As I said it isnt the app that is at fault as I am using the exact same download as my housemate. Also please remember that I have used most of the apds on the market and they all do the same thing.

Mate ......thats quite a statement saying you did use all the apps on the market lol.
Just distance the camera a little ,mine to the focus noise to and take the code under 5 sec.

Thats the thing I downloaded and installed close to 10 different barcode scanner apps which is most of what i saw when i searched for it. I agree that I might have missed some. My problem is that I tried to scan using all of the various different apps downloading and installing then uninstalling when it didnt work. i tried different angles distances and still after close to 2 min waiting for them to scan nothing happened. Maybe I'm doing something wrong but I use my buddies Desire and it picks up withing 5 secs as yours does at various distances as well. All I want to know is if I am doing something wrong or is there maybe something wrong with the phone(which I doubt as it is awesome in every way, getting better almost 3days battery )

Best barcode reader?

Just wondering what is the best barcode reader app for the HD2, I've seen a few but not sure which is the best one.
I want it to also be able to price compare and show the best place to get an item.
+1!
I haven't found a good one, yet. The only one that way works in an acceptable way is the German one WOABI.
if you meen the square barcode then "I-nigma" is good and free
I use Mobiletag, it does work (I tried it on a book, a box of tissues a can of soup and a dvd) to name a few things... They do seem to be upgrading it too, so time will tell how much better it gets.
But it is freeware and it does work on the HD2
hope that helps
View attachment mobiletag_3_directShowAndHtcSDK_3.0.02_buil3.CAB
the problem with mobiletag is that it doesn't have an integrated camera app and it doesn't shoot automatically like Quickmark, so I have problems in getting the barcode recognized. How does it work for you?
After the upgrade from version 2 to 3 it works fine
You run the app, then tap anywhere on the screen, it opens very quickly with your own phones camera
Holding your phone in Portrait mode only (it doesnt work landscape) focus the barcode in the centre of the screen so it all but fills the screen left to right, and wait for your phone to focus on it (usually about 2 seconds) in general if it looks clear to you on screen the app recognises it too...
Dont try and take the photo, you dont press anything when its in the camera part, once it sees the barcode thats it
It makes an odd sound and goes back to the reader again and done
(an odd point, I cant get it to work when only have a 3g connection, it seems to need a HSDPA connection)
Have another try with it ozkaya

you know what?? it just worked!! thanks a lot for your suggestion, I was trying to take the photo myself while in landscape mode, now all is fine
btw: it works for me with wifi and landscape as well.
edit: this must be one of the best apps for WinMo, it correctly identified almost ALL of my CDs.

Is your camera locking up (No pre-view picture)?

Is your camera locking up (No pre-view picture)?
When I select the camera icon, I see the camera menu in the lower part of the screen and I can even take pictures, however I see a black image instead of the pre-view photo on the screen. This issue goes away by soft resetting the phone; however it usually comes back after few days and the only way to see the pre-view image is by resetting the phone. The strange part is that the camera can actually take pictures but I cannot see the photo before taking it. Have you heard of this issue? The phone works just fine otherwise and I like it a lot.
Thanks,

Are you running stock?
I can't speak for whatever potential issues might be caused by any of the custom roms in circulation, but on a stock phone, obviously it shouldn't be doing that.
I can't imagine what hardware issue would produce intermittent preview-ability that's temporarily remedied by a soft reset, yet still manages to capture the photo itself, but there's a first time for everything.

My stock camera application (and Camera360) and camcorder applications both exhibit this behavior. A soft-reset of the device usually temporarily resolves the issue (i.e. allows me to use the camera for a short period of time). However, after my phone has been on for a while any app that uses the camera just locks up (eventually have to force close or soft-reset).
It is rather annoying. The only information I found seems to indicate that there may be an issue with the API within FroYo itself. Hopefully when we get the update to GingerBread the problem will resolve itself.
I also read something else about something to do with an LED widget that caused someone problems but I'm not using any LED widgets, so I'm not sure what that's referring to.
Hopefully there's a fix out there somewhere or we get the 2.3 update soonish.

Hmmm...
This is the first thread I've come across that brings up this problem.
My stock (rooted) phone, my mom's stock phone, and my dad's stock phone have never encountered an issue like this, but then again, maybe we were the three lucky ones...
EDIT:
That's not to say you guys are crazy... maybe we just haven't had the right combo of circumstances to expose the problem/bug on our phones.
Now that I think more about it, I did have an issue when I ran barcode scanner once, about a month ago. That of course uses the camera. As soon as it identified the barcode, and I pressed the 'search web' button, it just froze (image still visible), but the back key/screen input was unresponsive. The only thing that worked was the home button, which, instead of going to the home screen, displayed the screen you see when you are about to end a call with someone on your phone. Thing is, I hadn't made a single call that day. That screen was also unresponsive, but when I pushed the home button again, it finally got to the home screen.
I then went into manage apps in settings and FC'd barcode scanner and the dialer/phone, just in case. I even uninstalled barcode scanner because I thought it might have a phone-specific bug that I didn't want to deal with.
I don't know if there's any correlation between the yours/OP's issue, but it sounds like it's ****ed up in a similar way. FWIW.

I think I managed to fix mine by wiping my dalvik cache. On the downside, my current drain used to be around 5 when my phone was in standby and now it is around 45. On the upside, I haven't had a problem with the camera or camcorder since then.

Mine ended up being a hardware issue. Phone was exchanged with at&t. Haven't had an issue with the camera since.
Just wanted to update for the OP.

Camera and Speaker Problems

I seem to be having some random hardware issues with my nexus 5. I've had it for about fourteen months with no problems, but in the last couple of weeks I've started having problems with the camera and the speaker.
About 40% of the time the camera works fine. 50% of the time the camera app fails with a "can't connect to the camera" error. The remaining 10% of the time, the camera app starts, but the image shown on screen is all one color, or it does the normal preview overlayed with bands of flashing colors. If I take a picture when it does the bands of color, the band of color are stored in the picture.
The speaker is about 50/50 as to whether it works or not. When the speaker is not working nothing works. No ringtones. No notifications. No touch sounds. No music. It will cut out and in during play sometimes. The other day when someone called, it finally started ringing in the middle of the ringtone. I once heard a single note in the middle of a notification.
Rebooting sometimes fixes both problems, but it's not a gauraunteed fix. I've tried several different ROMs including both stock Kit Kat and Lollipop, as well as others. The problem persists in all ROMs.
Anyone seem this before? It seems like it almost has to be a hardware issue because it persists their multiple ROMs.

The camera error is due to something else using the camera HAL (or something using it but then not releasing it properly afterwards). Culprits range from torch applications (which use the camera HAL to trigger a continuous flash) or various social media apps (video calls, instant photo sharing). I don't use anything of the sort, I only use my camera as a camera, and I don't have such issues - whereas the people that get this error almost always use such apps.
Your speaker issue could be a hardware issue if it happens regardless the software. Have you ever dropped your device or given it excessive shock?

I had the same camera problem as you, no amount of clean wiping etc helped so I contacted Google and got an RMA, this is bearing in mind that I bought my phone in Nov 13.
I received a "refurbished" phone, but it was actually brand new and now it's working great.

You were right about the Camera! My problem was the Google Messenger app. I removed it, and went back to the Kit Kat AOSP messenger app, and my camera has worked since.
One problem down, but I am still having the intermittent sound issue. My phone has been dropped and banged around some. Nothing significant that I can think of recently, but that is certainly a possibility. Truthfully, I can live with the sound problem a lot easier than the camera problem.
After a few weeks of no sound and no camera, I've finally solved the problem. I took my phone apart, and cleaned it out with compressed air. I polished up the contact points on all the spring type contacts to the back of the case. I put it back together and everything is working!
I seem to be having a very similar problem. If I just lightly touch the 'S' of the nexus logo on the back cover, the speaker kicks in. Let go, and it cuts out. But before I open it up, (hate doing this), looking at all the break down pics of the nexus 5, I don't see any contacts related to the speaker? The speaker is apparently a single unit at the bottom of the phone? Can anyone explain the contact points for the speaker as it relates to the back cover especially around the center of the phone?? Thank, much appreciated.

Pixel 2 Several features not working

Hi, coming over from Iphone here, completely new to android, so some of this might be user error. I've got the pixel 2, and several features are not working for me. Always on is enabled, but doesn't pick up any songs, even though all the settings are good to go. Portrait mode on front facing camera, when selected, flips the camera to the rear. Someone else said to update the camera app, but I checked it in the play store, and it's fully updated. Not sure if lens is not working, or I'm just ignorant on how to activate it. I've read in articles that if you open the camera or google assistant, the little square in bottom right will bring up google lens, but mine brings up the app windows. Help!

Whats playing was not working for the first part of the day for me, and now it appears to be working. It only polls for music once every sixty seconds. Also, it can't detect ALL music.
Someone in another thread said google is rolling out updates for certain things like camera gradually at different times for different users. keep checking your apps in the play store for updates, that will bring the selfie portrait mode to you.
ATM lens is only available from google photos. There is a button when youre looking at a photo to run it through lens. if you dont have that button, i bet it will show up after your phone gets the updates. It's super underwhelming atm, though.
Thanks, I'll wait to see what they push out over the next few days
similar problems
Hey, this is reassuring to hear –*I got my Pixel 2 yesterday and experienced all of the same issues as you.
A tech support chat told me that there was an update to the camera (5.1) but it would be slowly rolled out.
A further issue I noted was not being able to connect to android file transfer tool for Mac. I spent 3 hours on support trying to solve it to no avail. This was all in order for me to migrate my WhatsApp backup from iOS to Android.
I hope these updates will solve the problem, but coming from iOS, I'm just not used to bugs on key features on release day and then getting updates slowly rolled out.
I'm not sure about the WhatsApp issue - mine backs up messages automatically and restores when I install it on a new phone. For accessing the phone on my Mac I use the excellent app AirDroid - free on the play store. This is a really good way to access stuff on your Android phone and has tons of features like access to the filesystem, downloading apks etc.. It works wirelessly.

Those of you on pie with camera issues, let's make some noise

Those of you who think you solved the problem by "doing a clean flash" feel free to show yourself out, you're not helping us we've already done that. Some of us several times.
OnePlus forums are broken for me, I can't register, it keeps just sending me back to the OP home page. Several people have the same problem there. So this is the last hope for those of us with pie camera issues, I don't know that OP has acknowledged camera issues so if we want any help, the best thing we can do is work together, make some noise, so OP can actually see the problem. Personally, no amount of reflashing, downloading, etc will fix the issue on pie for me. I'm rooted with Magisk and unlocked bootloader obviously, that's it. No kernels or custom "ROM" or anything.
Again, if you've solved it, good for you, get out. You have nothing to contribute to this thread and I know this forum is absolutely loaded with trolls who just blame everyone else for every ROM problem.

Yep, my friend also works in testing firmware and hardware compatibility on android phones and as soon as I told him more than just a few people (I've seen at least 15 different people report this issue, and let's be honest a lot of people won't bother to report it and even more people don't have accounts here to post it if they do have the issue) had it he said sounds like firmware issue, possibly related to hardware revisions.
Boring explanation warning: For example there may be very slight differences in say CPU or camera hardware, enough that it passed bench testing or was supposed to not even require bench testing because it was guaranteed 100% compatible, but as time goes on, maybe just one line of code somewhere does something that causes the very slight difference to manifest itself in a way that becomes apparent to everyday users.
That's just one possibility out of dozens though.
I agree in 100%, it's something broken with camera on Oxygen based on Pie.
I use the stock ROM, i did full wipe etc without positive effects.
We wan't fix or update to use the phone normally...
What is the Camera issue ?
Maybe if you are specific and tell us what is wrong with the Camera ?
How can anybody help if you can not be bothered to say what the problem is ?
.... Do not have kittens, I done a Google search and all I found was several months ago some talk about focusing.
I took some pictures ... not many but so far so good.
I would be more than happy to complain .... what do I look for ?

For example: Snapchat app. After 5s app frozen, black screen. On other phones everything ok...
Oneplus 6 & Tapatalk
For me, when I open snapchat, the camera will usually work for 5 to 20 seconds, no more, then the image freezes for a second before it goes black, and then every app that uses the camera for a little while will freeze/crash. Including the stock camera app if you try to access camera features in those apps.
Say I just turned on my phone, I go to open snapchat and the screen works as a viewfinder like normal for maybe 5-20 seconds, then the image freezes for a second before it goes black. The snapchat app no longer responds. If I try to open the camera in another app (say discord, stock camera app, instagram, etc) that app then freezes too. Half the time the only way to fix it is to force close all involved apps.
It goes back to working again within 5-10 minutes but you only have generally 5-10 seconds to take a picture before it freezes and does the same thing.
Occasionally when I open the stock camera app after snapchat freezes, it closes itself and a little toast notification on the bottom of the screen says "Unknown error". Usually camera app opens fine after that.
I think this tread explains very well and in detail, the REAL problems with OP6...
https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/oneplus-6-camera-takes-blurry-and-noisy-pictures.864226/
Painted faces, lack of detail, wrong temperature colour....etc,etc....
I am also experiencing these issues since i upadated to official Pie, didn't have any problem with DP1 & DP3 thought. Also i only have this on Snapchat, didn't experience any problems with the official camera.
Let's hope it's a known issue and that it will be solved in the next update.
Where exactly do we complain?
I have the same issue as well. My fiance does too. I'm on xXx module with EX kernel and my fiance is 100% stock with a locked bootloader.
I've done a clean flash before as well.
Sounds like it's either a snapchat issue or OP issue. I think there was some notes from other users having issues taking pictures with WhatsApp since pie. Could be related

Try emailing both snapchat support and posting on the OnePlus 6 official forum (on the oneplus website). I feel like it's not snapchat because it's happened on other apps for me.
I am on OB4 and have some other camera issues. When U open the camera app and select Timelapse all I get is the video capture screen and no option to set the time lapse setting. I alse get the standard 1x , 2x zoom option and it all it does is zoomes.
focus sucks
I'm on stock Pie, no root - some examples here how the focus socks: auto mode, (1) normal photo (2)about 3.5 zoom (3)~x5 (4) x8 I have gopro modified handlebar attachment on my bike, so consider it as if those pics were taken still and steady from a tripod.
focus sucks cont.
My phone/camera field stand - 2 pics, the 3rd pick shows zoomed detail of one of the islands there taken with my cheap, pocket Casio EX-ZR800 which has unbelievable zoom: x18 optical + x36 so called 'SR Zoom, does 1000fps as well, 224x64only let's hope they bring some of that technology to phones soon.

I was waiting to see if it would immediately **** up after I posted this, but it's been a few days since the last snapchat update and I no longer have the problem at all, at least that I ever noticed.

Same here. At first I thought it's cause I don't let it focus anymore since that causes the issue but it seems to be resolved for now. Now time for the rest of the pie issues to be fixed.
Agree. Happening with all the apps which use the system's camera. However, If we use the Camera app then it will work. but any 3rd party app that uses system camera it got stuck and crash.
