When i get my device back, i will post a review

this covers are on website ZAGG for 24.99$ + shipping i got some vouchers to give you 20% off from original price : GIZMO / PROTECT20 / TECHBARG / ZAGG20/ and you can still use quidco as well to give you another 20% off finally my maximum cover for TG01 with 1 class recorded shipping to uk cost me 14 pounds

OK, here is my short review of the InvisibleSHIELD for the Toshiba TG01
As you all know, this product has been released for many products before this one, and reviews for the product are all over the web, so there isn't a great deal to add
My phone arrived back today, service from ZAGG has been top notch, since i was the first to reply to the request for someone to send in a device, and due to the expense of sending it to the states, they included a $25 gift voucher for my trouble, as well as fitting a InvisibleSHIELD too my device.
Fit is almost Invisible literally, except for the rounded corners, you can feel the join of the shield in these areas. The only way you know the skin is on the device is by the glossy shine of the battery cover, and the odd feeling you get on the touchscreen when using your finger.
I am not about to take a key to my device to test their claims, however the shield does give me a bit of confidense my screen will remain scratch free for the foreseeable future. As for the body protection, i am sure that will work fine, what little body the TG01 has anyway, being so slim!
I will include a picture or 2, as best i can take with my camera, but you will not see much, just a glossy sheen to the battery cover, and the only way you know this device has the Shield in place is by feel.
All in all, seems like a good product, especially for protecting the body of your device, i think a screen protector would give much nicer feel to the screen, however i don't think anyone can argue about the level of protection this product gives your device against scratches.
Images attached, one is a blurry pic of a corner join, and the 2nd is of the battery cover

Thanks for your short review

Wasnt thtere a sale on zagg website 31st

Just got my universal invisible shield today at carphone warehouse for £8.99. got it installed at the shop, it covers most of the device. they did a bad job though! i ciuld have done better than them... came with 2 though, so i used the 2nd protector for my Orange San Fransisco. so far im really impressed with it, my other screen protectors got scrathced far too easily and needed to be replaced.

having owned it for quite a while, can you please post an update on how the shield is holding out now? Is it still strong durable, no peelings on it? I've had mine on for 4 months now (custom cut universal shield) it is scrathed, and i find it very difficult to use with my finger on the screen as it is quite a rough surface.

Condition of the shield is good, no scratches, but it has peeled from the edges of the screen, i should probably contact them to see what they say about a fix, but if you had the application fluid you could just flatten it back down before it got all messed up.
I should add, i use a sillicone case, which rubs against the edges of the screen, so when i hold my phone, the case rubs in that area, which is what is causing the invisibleshield to peel, its only in those areas, its not really noticeable when its in its sillicone case.

Verizon Invisible Shield

I just got a full body InvisibleSHIELD installed on my verizon device at a local Zagg mall kiosk, the installer had to cut the bottom to accommodate the 3.5 jack and the side for the volume rocker. The Installer said that Zagg doesn't actually make a Verizon specific body shield. Anyway, here are some pictures of it.
http://s188.photobucket.com/albums/...ction=tags&current=InvisibleSHIELD on VZW TP2
I contacted Zagg about this and a rep told me that because the installer cut the shield that the warranty is now vioded....
This is what she said
Code:
Hello *****,
Thank you for contacting ZAGG, where we are Zealous About Great Gadgets! My name is Betty and I appreciate the opportunity to assist you.
I sincerely apologize you have been misinformed. We do offer an invisibleSHIELD specifically for the HTC Touch Pro 2 (Verizon). You can find this item on the following links:
http://www.zagg.com/invisibleshield/htc-touch-pro-2-verizon-cases-screen-protectors-covers-skins-shields.php

In regards to your email, retail locations are authorized sellers of ZAGG. They also have their own separate policy and procedures.
I understand the sales representative at the mall kiosk altered your invisibleSHIELD. If the invisibleSHIELD is cut by anyone other than our professional shield designers, your Lifetime warranty will be voided. We do not recommend cutting or altering the invisibleSHIELD.
I hope this helps! Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions or comments.
All the best,
B****

Hi B****,
Thanks for the speedy response, however let me see if I understand this; because the authorized seller cut my shield in order to make a fit onto my phone, my warranty is voided and now I need to pay for a new shield if I want the correct one installed onto my phone?
Concerned Customer
I am currently awaiting a response from them. I tried calling the kiosk back but no one is answering, they're probably at lunch, however I'm not sure what to tell them aside from "You LIED AND YOU F###ed up my shield, do it again!" If anyone else has had a VZW Zagg shield installed, let me know what the results where please.
Did the installer inform you that they would have to modify the shields before they hacked on them? How did you pay? If by CC then you may have the option of disputing with your CC company.
Bad Zagg experience
I ordered a full body Verizon version via the Zagg website. I was careful to select the Verizon version. Because I have no patience I ordered express delivery.
When the product arrived it was a generic version. Holes in the wrong place ect.. When I called they implied I ordered wrong and suggested next time I order to select the Verizon version. I asked the rep. to order for me so it was correct, and again like a fool I paid for the express delivery. 2 days later it didn't show and when I checked the status it was on backorder. When I tried to cancel the express delivery for obvious reasons they would not do it.
I asked how they accepted my order when they were on backorder. Anyway I was not happy.
I ended up using the generic screen, other than a small camera hole on the top right it fit. After a couple days I was not happy with it's apperance, and how the sides felt. I looked for another option. I found Ghost Armor after searching this site.
I first ordered the full body then minutes later decided to order just the screen not knowing if there would be a difference. Not only did they check wih me to make sure I didn't double order, but they packed both orders together and refunded me the shipping on one order.
Bottom line, no question between the two the Ghost Armor is the best screen cover. You don't even know it's there. However the side and back covers are not great. If protecting your whole phone is vital then Zagg is for you. The Zagg screen wraps around the edges and offers more coverage.
My Verizon Zagg showed up and I left it in the box for now. I don't think I'm covering the back or sides. If I do I will use the Zagg back cover. How funny will that be?!
jsquared, sounds like you have too much money to spend on screen protectors... But is it true that the Zagg covers the sides on the screen portion?

Do you mind taking a look at what the front of the cover looks like?
Yes, the Zagg covers the entire screen and wraps around the top corners, bottom corners, around the bottom buttons, and both sides. However, it does not cover the entire sides. It prob. covers half the sides. It stops at the side crease. The Zagg does cover more than the Ghost Armor sides. My problem with Zagg is that the film is a little cloudy and sticky. It's obvious that there is a screen cover on.
My only concern is the screen and the Ghost Armor is perfect because I can't even tell it's there.
HOWEVER, my best advice is for you to buy both.... that way you can't go wrong
I wish I had seen this first
I just had mine installed at the Valley Faire Mall in San Jose while I traveled through. I was a little leary as he was putting it on because it looked like he had to trim the bottom also and the hole is in the wrong place up top. The center pieces where not cut correctly either and there are gaps where the screen meets the body and the screen. He insists these will go away after 24 hours or so. I think it looks like a total piece of crap. Carefully placed saran wrap would have looked more professional. I'm not even going to bother calling them. I will be in Salt Lake on Friday and I will show them what their "Authorized Resellers" are selling as the correct product and let them explain in person. I have Ghost Armor on my Storm that was put on in their kiosk in Chicago and it looks and feels 100% better. Can't even tell its there. This looks like I left the original plastic on the phone. Maybe if I show them my Ghost Armored Storm it will inspire them to make a better quality product. Ya Right. Highly unrecommended.
I attached some pics of the front. That bottom left corner is never going to lay properly no matter how much time. As you can see it was a real professional job.

LMFAO!!!!! that's exactly where I had mine done at! I emailed Zagg and they said that they're going to send me the correct version, I just gotta register my product at their website.
Well it's good to see some positive comments on the ghost armor. I ordered the screen protector only, but have never used it before so I am anxious to see how it looks. I have used the invisishield and phantom skinz, and really haven't like either one. And it's sad to say that I did a better install of the protector myself than the one in the picture posted. Hopefully the ghost armor will not be as sticky and noticeable as the other two. I have yet to see any real negative comments on it yet. The installer of that shield should have his @ss whooped for screwing up your phone....LOL

Honestly, as much as I love a slick slippery phone, I prefer something that has a bit of grip on it so it wont fall outa my hand and it wont slip off my desk. He DID **** up my cover, not my phone, and Zagg will provide a replacement (minus shipping >_< ).
Well, they are sending me a new one, though they tried to make it seem as if I should go away and they where doing me a favor. They screw the pooch, and I have to put $25 bucks on hold so they will send me a proper one. At least they eating the shipping to me. Its going back to them in a white envelope. Screwiest lifetime warranty in the business, designed to keep people from wanting to take advantage of it. Never again.
Yeah, they told me the same, I think I'm going to call the kiosk again and talk to the manager about this, see if I can get him to order in the tp2 skin so that they obsorb the $4 hit (sorry but now-a-days 4 bucks is a lot for shipping for something they they ****ed up on). Obviously if 2 random people on this board happen on the same thread about the same kiosk, then this is probably a problem for them, this doesn't reflect well on Zagg, even if they don't officially own the kiosks.
i installed mine myself and it all went well everything fit but i'm wondering is there supposed to be a piece for around the screen? Mine came with two pieces, the back cover and one for the screen itself but the glossy part around the screen is uncovered. if someone could let me know that would be great thanks

No, there is no piece for the glossy black part around the screen. My installer told me it was because it may peel off while removing the shield. He said it previously happened with different models of the Blackberry.
After having a Zagg on my TP1 and liking it until it started losing adhesive and peeling off, I originally ordered the Zagg IS generic GSM TP2 model (the one that overlaps the screen and needs to be cut for the 3.5MM jack) and altered it myself to fit as I hadn't heard about the Ghost Armor yet and Zagg didn't have a Verizon version at the time. That said, when I finally got the Ghost Armor, I found it a far superior product to Zagg. No orange peel, better appearance, and better feel, and easier to apply. You really can't tell it's there. I won't be using anything else from now on.
Just talked with the people at the kiosk I had the shield installed; despite what Zagg told me via email they said that they don't make a Verizon specific shield, and that they ALWAYS must alter the shield for the TP2 for Verizon and even some other phones and that Zagg was lying about making Verizon specific shields. I'm going to have to call Zagg about this tomorrow (it's pass their business hours, and email conversation seems to take them 1 day to reply, no matter what) and see who's bullshitting here... Ghost Armor is starting to look like a better option...
tell the idiots at the kiosk to check out zagg's site: http://www.zagg.com/invisibleshield...es-screen-protectors-covers-skins-shields.php

LAME....that part sticks out more too. I wish I had a protector on it ):
Got the replacement today. Though it fits better now, it leaves the most vulnerable parts of the device exposed. They really need to make some kind of surround to protect the frame around the screen as its basically useless without something like that. Kind of a lame excuse that it may peel the device on removal since the surround on a Blackberry is painted and the TP2 is solid plastic. Nothing to peel. It does look much better now though.

Damn, we must be in sync or something, got my replacement today as well, I took it to a different kiosk (closer to my home) and I explained the story to the guy and he installed my new shield for free , I also sent the incorrect shields back to Zagg for a refund (or atleast for them to de-authorize the cash they have on hold on my account). I will be complaining to the Valley Fair kiosk owner and try to get a refund for the installation at the very least for this whole fiasco.

Possible stupid question
Does using a screen protector degrade the touch screen performance?
I used to have a T-Mobile Vario II and never used a protector and got away with it. The phone went in my pocket and did clash with keys and things occasionally, no detectable damage though.
Do screen protector users let their children out to play? Or are they correct to take care?
Tom
Not at all i notice no difference using a screen protector.

Just bought it for £9.95 just need my desire now
Screen protector from Amazon UK (not tried it myself):

I've ordered the Vikuiti ones and they are not good. From what I can see the cut-out is just a simple rectangle, it will not cover the full glass area of the phone but probably only the part that is actually displaying something. I find that utterly useless.
Now I've ordered the ones from BoxWave where they show how they did the cut-out on their website. That's the way it should be done...

There are a few on eBay claiming to be for the Desire but you can clearly see they dont match all the openings, eg, the flash.
Got this one - didn't really like it. Found it too stiff/hard.
If anyone wants to give it a go, I'll mail it for free within EU.
Whoever PMs me first with their address, gets it
EDIT: case was given-away to er_yeah.
i have just got a mofi case for £4.95 it seems fairly universal size but it is lined with micro fiber so it cleans your phone when you put it in.

Surely, you can get the nexus one silicon case (the ones that dont have the bottom covered where the desire buttons would be). They are practically the same size, give or take fractions of a mm here or there.
Anyone found a good silicone cover/skin yet?

[Review] DevDef HTC Desire HD Full Body Protection (with pics)

I got my Desire HD just yesterday and before I make the big switch from my trusty G1 and wanted to install this protection that I have had for a good few weeks now.
The full body protector set I got consisted of one for the screen, a main back part, sim card slot and battery slot. It came with a spare set too.
To be honest, I'll cut to the chase. The installation was like any other full body installation in that you've got to keep your hands wet with the sopy solution (I had a spray bottle left over from a Bodyguardz set I had for my HD2 I once had). You must ensure you peel the parts off carefully making sure you don't stretch them. Bearing this in mind and being experienced in fitting this type of protection, I found the 'cut' of it to be poor.
The protection isn't "full" in my opinion. It doesn't stretch round the edges and corners therefore the most vulnerable areas to scratches and knocks is not protected. But worst of all, the deal breaker for me, was the battery cover area. I first realised that the main back part wasn't going to fit correctly when trying to put it on. The design of the protection have wrongly measured the battery cover slot and they believe it to be smaller than it is. This means that I had to cut a little bit away from the main back part. Consequently, the little piece of protector that goes on to the battery cover was too short and again means it does not provide "full" protection. The screen protection, I would of hoped, could of covered the whole thing right up to the earpiece grill but it just covers the screen.
Whether or not the screen will be less responsive, it tints yellow after time or shows any other aspect of poor build quality, time shall tell and I will edit this review accordingly.
So it is in my opinion to wait for another brand to release, InvisbleShield is in my sights as soon as its available.
Any questions, Ill be more than happy to answer
Thanks for the review but it'd me much better If you could share the front screen as well.
BTW you can purchase bestskinsever (BSE) DIY size and cut out any shaped as you need. Especially for that battery cover, you can solve yhe problem with BSE

Hi there, sorry yeah I'll upload a pic of the screen tonight. Kinda rushed the review earlier today just before work!
Thanks for the tip about Bestskinever though I think Im going to wait for Invisibleshield or hope that Bodyguardz produce one soon. I really like that for my old HD2
I bought mine, arrived today, it was awful, do not buy, it's stupid. I scrunched it up, do you want a picture of that? £10 down the drain.........oh well, it happens. =D
Zagg Invisible shield
I believe the Zagg invisible shield is already available. when you go to the Zagg web site, just search for HTC desire HD, and it should bring you to the site. I just ordered Maximum protection for AUS $18 (including shipping), but that's after 50% voucher. You can look for it here, and maybe post a request (im sure someone will be nice enough to share.) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=664386
I do believe the Zagg quality is better (including the cut).
Ive contacted ZAGG about suppliers in Europe and this is what they answered me

If they make it like their iPhone 4 full body protection - don't bother . The size is wrong by 1-2mm, the cuts for the speaker, button, etc, also don't match the actual size (see the attached picture). I installed just the front and back protectors on my wife's iPhone, because seeing how wrong they are on the plain flat surface, I don't want to know what they did with the curvy edges... I ordered some original HTC protectors for my DHD because IMO they are the perfect cut and with some luck I'll manage to install one of them without any bubles (it's not impossible - I did it on the Touch HD).

Why cant you just ordered directly from their official sites? dont need to go through their resellers. Dont think it's much cheaper to get from their local resellers. Considering you can also get discount vouchers from nice people in this forum. Shipping is not expensive (only cost me $5).
Stupid me! I bought 2 pairs before you! I got my phone about two weeks now, so I decided to have some temporary protection until something better comes out.
And after installing the first one I really felt like I was fooled its so ugly and it doesnt fit well so I decided to sent the 2nd one back the morning after... but too late my mom had already throwed the 2nd one in the recycling bin...
Now Im searching for a cheap but good quality silicone case and a cheap look a like the default HTC leather case, cause I think Ive spent enough on screen protectors!
btw my phone has still the devdef protection on it and I have to admit, it has 2 pros
* No sign of condense
* Stretchy protector
but its 100% NOT scratch proof

I hate silicone cover more than anything, but try this mate, only £2.95, but I promise that this is the best protection out for the Desire HD so far, await the case-mate barely there if you want a metal, as I am doing, I got conned by this stupid DevDef protection!

Screen Protector needed

Do we have any options for screen protectors on this tablet? I'd prefer to use the tablet "naked" with only a film over the screen to help deter scratches. (I really don't care if the back gets scratched..)
Thanks

SKinomi makes one for the GT7+ and the quality is good but I'm warning you of their customer service. They have the worst customer service. You better hope you won't have to deal with them. They got 3 strikes from me just on one order.
1st: they forgot to process the order, I had to send them a followup email
2nd they again, forgot to send the item after 10 days from processing. I had to send them another followup email.
3rd: the item arrived, they forgot to include a squeegee! No big deal if this is just the case but they already f#$%ed me 2x.
Plus they only respond if you answer them basic questions but if they had to deal with these issues, they keep silent and doesn't even apologize for their mistake. This is just my experience though.. I hope this doesn't happen to you.
UPDATE: Just got a word from their manager. They are in the process of looking for a company that will provide a squeegee for them (no biggie). And he apologized for everything that had happened.. That's all I needed. .. and a full refund. All is well!
Something I stumbled upon a while back. I've not bought it as I hear "Santa" is bringing it to me.
Looks pretty good from here.

Is it a glossy style or a more matte style? Would you say fingerprints are more or less of a problem with this screen protector? Would you describe the film as stiff or more "stretchy"? Does the protector create an "orange peel" effect?
Thanks

The Skinomis I've used in the past on other devices (wet apply) are iffy. Some were rather "rubbery" (DroidX) and kind of shiny (TF101). The larger the more pliable. I replaced both. Not a real fan of "wet-apply" myself. Others swear by them. Both attracted fingerprints and other goobers but wiped off easily.

This is the clear style not matte. Im curious on how a matte protector wouldfeel or look like but this clear skin is better in reducing fingrprnts than having nothing. My hands sweat a lot and this really helps. The feel is similar to Bodyguardz if you had experienced it. Total opposite ofnthe zagg protector that ive used on a gt10.1. My fingers has a friction squeaking feel on a zagg but this one is smooth.
This film is "stretchy".. wet apply..have like 2 dozen bubbles on it right now because i had to attend to my crying 2 yr old while applying this thing. By the time i came back, the it was too late to redo. But im confident these bubbles will all go away in a couple of days. Will update when the time comes. Some of them are already gone after 24 hours.
Anyway, if youre a fan of bodyguardz then this would be perfect as well. "Skinomi25" coupon cvode on their website saves 25%
just to let every one know i ordered 2 kits from skinoni on Nov. 17 and the items did not ship till Nov. 30 and i have not received anything from them yet (Dec. 9). not very impressive shipping or customer service.

And i thought it was just me who had a horrible experience. Its a shame that skinomi builds high quality products but their customer svc is very incompetent and they have inefficient system.

I think it's more matte style, but I may be comparing it to phone protectors which I've used outside. No fingerprints on mine - I'm hella dark and ashy, and I have to use hand lotion all the time so chicks dig me. Fingerprints are a huge concern for me, so I am pleased with that aspect of the skin.
I don't notice any orange effect. I'm not sure if it's stretchy, but if you are talking about what I think you're talking about, then it is more stretchy than stiff(I'm guessing you mean kind of like camera film when describing it as stiff. I've had cheap protectors like that.)
Skip the atFolix stuff, I just got it and applied it. Frankly I'm happy they shipped two, as the product was god awful to apply and the first one I applied had a a couple scratches going down it.... so effectively it was burned...
Here's the Amazon feedback I just left and I'll elaborate more
----
Product not cut to size, with 1-3 mm from the edges of the tablet, gives it a cheap screen feel. The screen is only a single back applicator, meaning you only pull one side to apply. As a lot of other other screens use two backings, one to protect the adhesive and the other to protect the screen itself, you can expect some scratching on the screen itself due to the fact that the screens are shipped side by side and therefore rub and scratch during transit. Micro-scratches are very evident. Not happy with the quality and the somewhat self inflicted damage of the screens.
Finally shipper does not have tracking numbers available.
----
As for the cutting of the plastic, I've personally gotten better cut screens for my phones for less, then the cut of this plastic...
I wouldn't recommend this and given in couple months I'll most likely swap this screen out...

Great, just bought this one a few days ago. Bought one of the HandHeldItems cases too that was labeled as being for the 7+ but was for the original. Having zero luck with accessories for this tablet.......
Ya.... but worse comes to worse, atleast we took one for the team no?
That said I left feedback on the Amazon page, and we'll see if the seller responds no?

I'm getting the impression there are no good choices for this device. Perhaps I'll just get one of the generic "you cut it" protectors and cut it down to size myself.

Zagg has one available at best buy for the tab+ $24.
I miss when i got the original galaxy tab and there were pretty much a wide availability of aftermarket accessories for it. Not so much w/ the Plus. I'm still looking for a clear (non matte/anti-glare) and non-gummy screen protector.
I just got the skinomi finally last night and pulled it off after a minute of application. Just like the Zagg/invisibleshield product it has this grippy/gummy texture i don't like on my touchscreens. That's fine on the body if i don't want to use a case, but really not my preference on the screen.
What i want is a smooth, close to frictionless as possible on the touchscreen that affects the clarity as little as possible. In the past I like the Boxwave Crystals but they don't have any for our device, so I placed a request.
Anyone ever deal with this company? They list a screen protector specifically for our devices.
Looks promising. But then the Titanic looked promising..........

Oh believe me they have it. Their customer service is just plain incompetent and lazy. I got it after a couple of followups.. Oh and when USPS displays on their tracking website "Electronic Shipping Info Received" which indicates Skinomi already printed a shipping label for your item, don't settle and don't wait because for sure they will forget to send it in! Bang their heads until the tracking info starts moving. Then demand for a manager and get a refund for the trouble they've caused you. You then get the item for free. That serves them right because that item is their payment for the aggravation they've cause you. Just send them an email, be irate because I know you already are.

i sent numerous emails. i finally received the stuff from them it only took 34 days. i asked how to get a refund and was told they only offer a refund up till 30 days from order date. after many more emails they finally agreed that if i ship the stuff back they will refund my money. i will be doing my best to warn people of the terrible customer service at this site. not to mention the product comes all rolled up in a stupid tube in a huge package. wouldn't flat shipping the body kit make more sense than rolling it up tight?

Ok, talk me out of buying this: Rhino Shield.

I have said before that people who think the Nexus 4 is fragile are just irresponsible and don't know how to mind their phones...
... then I dropped the phone in my backyard. On grass. While in a TPU S-case. The screen cracked and the digitizer was unresponsive.
$120, a toolkit, and a YouTube video later; I've got a repaired phone. When I leave my house, my phone always rests in a case, whether S-case, Poetic Palette, or Poetic Slimbook. And these cases always add a noticeable amount of bulk.
I'd love to be able to use the phone caseless, but I don't want to shell out another $120 and spend another evening replacing the screen.
So... I'd be very grateful if someone would please explain to me why I shouldn't buy this. Tell me why it doesn't provide drop protection. Or that the phone would still break from a 5 foot fall into concrete. Tell me that the coverage means nothing and that edge protection is necessary if the event of a drop.
Or... you can tell me that this screen protector provides as much protection as the Poetic Palette/Rearth Ringke
I'm only asking for real advice, because I really want to go caseless, and if the Rhino Shield provides adequate drop protection, I will. 2x0.29 mm isn't too thick (0.58 mm for our slow friends) and is certainly thinner than any case possible.
P.S. If the Kickstarter is cancelled, everyone gets their money back (no scam).
I have a question.
when your phone dropped (with the S TPU) you didn't have any screen protector on?

I did not have a screen protector on.
More and extraneous detail: I had just gotten the phone replaced, as my first N4 had a faulty radio that consistently dropped cellular data. With my replacement, I left the packing film on the back, but removed the front film.
When I dropped the phone, it landed on it's back. Somehow, only the front cracked. The back remains pristine, though I have since removed that packing film.
there's your answer. put the film back on. you're welcome.

I'm not sure if you're being facetious or you truly don't understand the point of my thread...
This Kickstarter is for a very durable screen protector that appears resilient against single point impact. However, I don't know how it fares against an actual drop. I'm particularly interested in how it would do against concrete.
I'd be very interested in using my phone without a case, and this specific screen protector boasts significantly more protection than a standard screen protector. Watch the video. Spoiler: a 255g ball bearing is dropped from 48cm onto a Gorilla Glass 2 panel with Rhino Shield and escapes intact. The same bearing is then dropped from a mere 9cm onto the same glass panel which is now using a "standard" screen protector. This time, the screen cracks all over.
However, someone who has more experience in industrial design or phone durability may be able to dispel the Rhino Shield claims. Maybe their test was not representative of an actual drop. Maybe edge protection is far more important.
One thing is certain about your advice... I'm not going to heed it!
Edit: this video is a more direct comparison, using a real phone this time. It seems very impressive, but I'm still concerned about hire important edge protection is in the case of a real world drop. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jk70XEYk53Y
Edit 2: this video actually had drop results and they seem promising. I'm going to bite the bullet and get one. I'll try to remember to update this thread in the future if my phone breaks. If I don't, assume it hasn't! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=humEMjHElG0

Ahh, now there's a helpful post. I looked up Wrapsol protectors and found this review on Amazon:
the product was delivered very quick almost 5 days faster than expected. I bought this product on amazon since they stopped selling them in my local walmart. Couldn't be happier the full screen protector is the way to go since you get full protection with minimal size increase. I have dropped my phone probably over 150 times over the past year with this wrapsol full screen protector on it and it has yet to crack any of those times (including tile, terrazzo, and concrete).

I've looked at the other reviews, for all kinds of iPhones, and found that Wrapsol protectors stretch over time. I really hope this doesn't happen to Rhino Shield, but I'll just make them give me a new one if that happens. I mean, it would be pretty messed up if you got a screen protector, and after a year it misaligned to the point of function loss.
I saw a post today (on another forum) about someone dropping a nexus 4 with wrapsol on it- he got out of a car and forgot the phone was on his lap, and he says the screen shattered at 3 different places.
in my opinion, these types of screen protectors may help as long as the phone doesn't fall on one of its corners.
Amazer already has one of these

their brick test is incredible...
however, the rhino is about half the price
I'm not sure how similar the rhino shield is compared to invisible shield but I've been using that on all my phones for a long time and can tell you that even on corner drops I have not had a single cracked screen. I got the full body shield installed by the guy at the mall selling it for $35. I think you can buy it without someone installing it for less.

Again, I'm quite skeptical about the rigor of these companies' testing methods. I just don't feel like the hammer and bricks tests represent real life hazards to phones. They should perform a drop test onto a hard surface, and repeat dropping until the glass shatters or they show that the screen protector really is shatterproof. I'd love to see a worst case scenario from a set of 100 trials.
From what I see if specs, Rhino is at least 50% thicker than similar shatterproof film. I just wish Rhino would release chemical info of the polymer that used
I already gave Rhino Shield my USD$24, though.
I think I am in for one
I am waiting at home for the Fed Ex truck to arrive with my repaired Nexus 4. Dropped it from 1.5 feet onto the tile in my bathroom and the front screen shattered and the digitizer stopped working. I would love to see this in a drop test but those videos look impressive. My fault for not having a case on it yet but it is ridiculous how fragile this phone is. I don't understand how Google and LG Engineering would allow this out the door like this. I could easily see some sort of class action lawsuit coming over the build robustness and I will be sure to sign up if/when it happens to get some of that $140 repair bill back. I am going to contribute to this kickstarter. Looks like they are getting close to their goal.

You can either back them on Kickstarter and choose the Nexus 4 front and back protector as a 'reward' (costs £16 to get that reward).
Alternatively you can wait for it to come into production and buy it just like any other product.
It sounds good. I might back it.
How do you all think this compares to the Fantom 4 tempered glass screen protectors? I was thinking of getting one of those.

i posted in the rhino thread about the edge not being protected so there's not a lot of real drop protection. Im not and expert on phone design but if you take a look at your phones or videos of drop test, esp. the ones in slow mo, you can see that on a flat surface the phone will impact the edges most of the time. There's lots of pics of phones with shattered screens and the ones from drops usually are cracked from an edge or corner. the Nexus 4 is going to be worst than other phones because the screen curves around the bezel exposing more glass in a vulnerable area that is not covered by the screen protector. If you want drop protection get a case with lip around the screen. Get a screen protector if you dont want scratches.

backing a kickstarter will not guarantee you get anything, most fail even the ones with enough backing and there's no refunds with kickstarter. You are also getting an untested product until someone can get it and verify the manufacture's claims.
