As you may already know, he is one of our best bets to a fully working Android. He has helped a lot, along with other wonderful people that bring us the best of their knowledge.
Well, I don't know how many of you donated money for this project, but it's definitely necessary to provide our developers with test devices.
I make a call to all of you that could help with a small donation for the cause. If you know where to buy a Polaris or you don't use yours anymore, please, notify us using this thread. The community will appreciate your help.

It's great you are supporting him! If only we could get more people to find him a good device... It doesn't matter if it's a very little donation. Many a little makes a mickle.

I've taken a quick look at eBay and found some for about $195. Maybe we could find a bargain there.

Selling mine Polaris for 60 euro's, everything works.. Hardspl flashed, 6.5 rom etc.. I have a new phone, so my htc polaris is unused for a while now..

I received a message from mssmison. I have just realized that his original device was a Vogue, not a Polaris Sorry, I misunderstood it.
Well, I'm going to change the topic of this thread to fit the reality. My proposal is this: now that a donation link is set up, we could use it to raise the numbers enough to buy a Polaris, too. If you make a donation, specify that it is to buy a Polaris.
I trust that mssmison will be honest and he will get one once he gets the money. I will send him a PM to inform about it.
He told me that he's going to use it as a test device and extra phone to develop for. This could make possible to fix things quickly!
You've got to take into consideration that Vogue and Polaris are similar devices, but not the same, and we have way less developers... I think this is the only mean to keep the dev scene alive.

I've been helped by xda-developers and it's members a few times, specially in elf and kaiser subjects.
I'm sure there are lots of people who should get a donation, for my part This were the first 10 (max in a poll) I tought of:

What I want to do is this. You people vote who should I donate more. Each vote is $1USD. At the end I'll donate to these people according to your votes.
The more users that vote, the more the donation and in a democratic way.
Clauses:
- I'll donate minimum $100USD (I would use percentage)
- I'll donate maximum $300USD (I would use percentage times three) but may me more.
- If it's between those sums, the number of votes
- Poll Ends February 14 (almost a whole month)
- Donations on 15 perhaps as late as 20 of feb
- Just one vote per person (consider who deserves more recognition).
- Apart from votes I may add a bit more depending on my experience.
- If some one gets less than $15USD I may omit it. Not sure yet.
Please vote!!

Here is the best advice i can give you on donations...
If you feel like you want to donate to someone then offer it to them directly. If they refuse the offer or the donation then make a donation to xda. well all work hand in hand and whether you donate to a person or to xda for providing us all a place, or help other members, either way you help to strengthen the community.

Yes I know, many post like this will come, there are many people who has gave a lot to this community, many more than 10 which is the most the poll accepts. But I don't spend much time here and don't know well everybody's aportation.
In this particular case, (elf upgrading, etc), few would know nomaless, I wanted to flash a touch to spanish, Nomaless got it and he explained me how.

Well, i've did that once.
But you see... I feel like donating a lot to everybody... but I don't have a that much to donate. So I got to think how much to donate? Couldn't tell, so got this Idea which might make some one else donate too.
I believe all of those accepts donation, i see a lot of "if you like what I do please donate to [email protected]".

I want to donate to some of the developers whose ROMS i have used, but i wasn't sure how much to give...i don't want to give too much, but also don't want to offend by giving too little. Also, i am curious at what point do you feel like u should donate...i didn't think just from trying a ROM i should feel obligated to donate, but if i have used it for a month or so or more than yeah, maybe kickin something down is the thing to do.
So, you think better way to get the keyboard problem addressed is post in the thread for the rom you want fixed, as opposed to creating a new thread asking specifically for it. See, i think some devices maybe don't have that problem (it's an ATT PTT thing?), and so some of the chefs and users aren't getting it...i THINK...or else it just surprises me how it doesn't bother more people more...i guesss maybe i actually use my phone to talk on more than some here

Donations are always a tricky item... I completely understand about the "not enough to much" dilemma... This is how I approach it: You are not purchasing anything, you are donating to a person that shares a common interest as you... To that end, think about a small favor that a friend of yours does for you... What type of thanks would you give that friend...? For my friends, I may buy them a couple beers... I think you see my point... Any donation, is appreciated... I would check on the conversion rate for where the recipient lives, so that they can get a decent donation... I don't think that 5 or 10 of whatever their native currency is, is to much... So, if I wanted to donate approx. 5GBP to someone, it would cost me 10USD... That is enough to buy almost 3 beers in the US, not sure about the UK ratio though... I think you also have a good handle on when you may wish to donate... a month may be a good time to donate to the cook... or however long you take to decide the rom is a keeper...
As for the keyboard fix, the comment should be posted in the thread of the rom where the problem exists... Some roms do not have the problem, it really depends on which base rom the cook used and whether or not they are even aware of the problem to begin with... There are many roms that have the fix already taken care of, and many that do not... It's really a hit or miss, when you find one that you like, you can always ask the cook to repost it with the correct dll cooked in, if you really like the rom, you can always let them know how much you appreciate their work and that a donation may be forthcoming...

If you were to donate, i'd say the minimum would be the cost of a pint of beer in your own currency.

FWIW, as someone who has both sent & received donations I think that the average is from $5 - $20 depending on what efforts you are supporting, how much value you feel you got from the efforts and finally how deep your pockets are. I've received a few donations that were much higher and it is always appreciated but nobody is trying to live off donations.
In the end it's really something that changes from user to user, project to project, and even month to month as your financial situation may change.

Not just ROMs but all Apps should be considered. There is a whole lot of great creativity in this forum.....
I have to say thnxs to those that shared their thoughts... Hopefully, someone has gained some insight as to how much they should donate, if they feel the urge to do so... I agree, as already stated, that shelling out the amount for a couple beers will always be appreciated, but as mentioned by Kyphur, your financial situation should be the final factor as to how much you want/can donate...

Hey Ookba, here's a crazy thought. Why not just buy a snap for 50 bucks at your local Best Buy and return it within the 30 day full refund period? It's a little shady, but in the end your efforts to cook up a better rom for the snap will probably result in better sales for sprint and BB that far offset whatever repackaging/refurbishing costs that they will endure. Then you can keep your donation money for yourself instead of spending it on another version of a phone you already have.
anyways.. just a thought.

Thanks for the donation. It is HardSPL? Does the bootloader say 0.34.Hard? If not, you have to wait for an official ROM to be released.

Ok people so here's the deal:
User @maintainer mentioned in the Lineage dev thread that a dev from the Paranoid Android team was interested in porting to our device but unfortunately couldn't afford it. He'll also leave a working LOS tree so other people can port other roms to our device and probably make a working TWRP, actually working. The dev in this case is known as Offain on Discord and his xda handle is @33bca.
So I took it upon myself to go talk to said dev and set up a plan for this. Here's how things stand:
According to @maintainer, we need to gather 180 Swiss Francs (158.2€) to fund this device. I've spoken to the developer, Offain and I'll link him the thread so he can pop in and confirm all this. If enough people are interested in chpping in some cash, he'll post his paypal and we can all directly donate to him. I'm trying to keep this as transparent as possible cuz we don't want a repeat of the situation with @d1ngh and TWRP.
So post here if you're interested and how much you're willing to donate for this. I'll keep count in OP of the cash.
I'll start obviously, I'm unemployed atm but willing to chip in 5€.

Dunno. No one in the custom rom scene has interest in MIUI honestly (neither do I). If you wanted MIUI probably should have gotten the Redmi 6 Pro

He says that when we have enough cash confirmed, he'll give us his paypal link so we can all send it there. He's pretty pumped about this if we can get it off the ground and so am I
I didn't want to make a paypal account just for this because 1) I don't think people who trust/believe me and 2) It's a lot of responsability to hold other people's money. So I went with the honest and transparent way of going about this.
