Simple gas price app (for Canada only) - Android Apps and Games

Hi all,
I just wanted to share a simple app I wrote to check the gas prices in major Canadian cities, pulling data from Dan Mcteague's Tomorrow's Gas Price Today site.
Search for "dm gas price" on android market to try it!

Where to buy in New york

Hello everyone, Can someone help me?
I will be in new york next week (live in UK) and I want to buy (either Treo 700 or HP hw6515) and I can't find a single store where i can go and pick it up.
Is it that difficult?
No one? :?:
I called one store and they can deliver anywhere but not a hotel address? How does one buy then?
If u will be downtown in lower Manhattan, I would suggest J&R. http://www.jr.com
cool, that's the one I had (infact only one) and that has only 7 products under PDA
http://www.jr.com/JRSectionView.process?Ns=pricing_amount&N=11639
I cannot believe googling is not helping a bit.
http://www.bestbuy.com
http://www.circuitcity.com
try these. If you know the zip code of your hotel, use the store locator.
Great!!! I will give these two links a shot.
BTW I hope to pick up the hw6940 (spoke to HP customer services and they confirmed that it will be out in the last week of may).
Does anybody have any other confirmed news about the launch?

ISIS mobile payments - news and updates

Recently some news about ISIS (ISIS official website) has come to light and with that, I’m sure we will be getting a lot more news about it. I decided to make this thread for all of those who want to know more about the current state of the ISIS payment system and to keep up with news.
The ISIS (mobile payment system) a joint venture between AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless to bring NFC payments to the masses. It seems to be their response to Google Wallet, a service only officially supported by SPRINT (and some Virgin Mobile phones) at this time (though unofficially, you can still hack it to work with other carriers on the Galaxy S3 ).
All three carriers announced plans to invest more than $100 million in the project.
Earlier this year, back in April, it was announced that ISIS would start a beta/pilot program in Salt Lake City and other areas just to later be delayed with no conclusive response as to why.
Earlier this week some news is starting to trickle out about ISIS - this post will be updated as news is released.
ISIS NEWS
By March 31st, 2013, ISIS will pay USA Technologies for every ePort-equipped vending machine that is able to accept Isis Mobile Wallet. This agreement is for some 7,500 vending machines.
Micros, a point-of-sale vendor having an estimated 35% (as of 2003) of the restaurant market has announced the integration of its Simphony point of service to support Isis's SmartTap mobile commerce application allowing consumers to make purchases, redeem offers and present loyalty cards through smartphone.
[ISIS IS LIVE AND WORKING]
ISIS is now LIVE and working….. at the Aramark cafeteria at Verizon's Basking Ridge, NJ headquarters….

ALK CoPilot coming for Windows Phone 8 :)

One thing about WP8 that concerned me was the lack of choice for satnav apps. This is what drove me to buy a Lumia 920 because it came with Drive / HERE Drive+ Beta.
Having been forced to change to an 8X I didn't think that this would be a problem as HERE Drive+1 Beta is now available for all WP8 phones in selected regions. What I didn't realise was that with the free Beta version you are currently limited to navigation in the same region as your SIM card, whereas on Nokia phones you can navigate globally.
The only other option I know of is Navigon which costs £80.
However, I just checked on the ALK CoPilot website and my fave satnav from the my TouchDiamond and HD2 days is "coming soon" to WP2! Hopefully it will retail for the same as the Android version, £40 is for European maps.
I'd like to point out that I'm not affiliated to ALK in any way - I'm just happy to have a bit more choice when it comes to satnav on my new WP8 phone.

Are you sure about that with regard to the location of sim? I just had my 8X with AT&T sim in Italy and France with HERE Drive and had no problem. I downloaded the maps prior to traveling.

Not sure how it works in US/Europe, but my navigation license is only valid for:
UK
Ireland
Isle of Man
Guernsey
Jersey
(Vodafone UK here).

You're in the UK? Are you able to download the European maps? Try to download one and post what it says. Fourty quid sounds high these days. I hear Navitel is also coming out with a free version for WP8 in the near future.

It will let me download the maps because they aso work for other the HERE apps. What is disabled is the turn-by-turn navigation in Drive.
See here.
£40 isn't that steep. When I first bought CoPilot I recall it cost nearly £100 with European maps. Navigon is £80.
From what I can see on the web there may be some early versions of Drive out there which are not limited, so if yours isn't then don't update it!

FYI, I found this from a March 13, 2013 article;
"Hi Ali, as promised I have some answers for you.
So, first of all the only difference between HERE Drive and HERE Drive+ is the regional or global license. HERE Drive+ is providing voice-guided turn-by-turn navigation in almost 100 countries, while HERE Drive only in one country or region.
Let me give you few examples: US is a stand-alone country in this model, Canada too, but UK is in the same region as Ireland; Spain, Portugal and Andorra are one region; Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Lichtenstein another region and so on. In the specific case of Jordan, you would get the driving license only for your country.
The license selection is done automatically the first time you launch HERE Drive and it’s based on the SIM card in the smartphone. Without SIM card, HERE Drive won’t start. Let’s say you buy a Nokia Lumia 520 in Spain and put a Jordan SIM card in it, you will get the HERE Drive license for Jordan."

Carriers getting Money

Hi,
I have a weird question. I even don't know whether I'm posting in the correct section or not. Admins, please move this question to the correct section.
In the US, most of the cell phone sales are through Carriers. But its not in the developing countries. Its a more prepaid market.
That means, we go to Walmart, and buy grocery and similarly, we buy cell phones and recharge cards and refill our account.
Mostly it is prepaid market. But in the US, its mostly postpaid market and contracts.
Is there any way, I can get some details, about the carriers, on the whole, - not of each individual carriers, source of income.
Example : Lets say 100 people need cell phones. How many are walking into any of the carrier's stores and signing up a contract and how many are going online on amazon or ebay or craigslist and buying their cell phones and plans online?? and how many are going in for walmart, target, bestbuy, frys, and buying a cell phone and plans available there.
Does a report of this nature exist?? I'm not sure.
I'm trying to find myself online, but cannot find one.
Thanks a lot for the help. Its for one of my school work's project. I need to develop more on that, with graphs, pie charts, and strategies/suggestions.
Thank You and peace.

Traveling Tips for Malaysia - for a newbie European traveler

Hay lads and gals,
I am planning a small trip to malaysia in the first quarter of 2018.
What i am looking for is advice on apps that help with communicating( traveling between cities and other destinations by bus or train),
Like for instance a train and bus lines in Cities like Kuala Lumpur but also trains and buses between cities like Kuala Lumpur and Malacca City for example.
I use apps to pay for pretty much everything in my daily life and traveling through europe but i never been outside this continent and Malaysia is rather exotic place for me.
I would like to either check what line can get me there and times of departure with approximate ticket prices, if available it would be great to have app that allows you to buy tickets directly through the phone.
Additionally if you have any suggestions on necessary apps and info I need before going I will be thankful as this is my first trip outside Europe.
Thank you all for the info in advance
I like to travel and I’ve visited a lot of foreign countries that have nice history. Every country have their own habits and that helps you to be more tolerate when you see something unusual for your native country. Another benefit of travelling is that you improve your language skills by learning a new language or dialect. Last year I was very confused about the place I wanted to visit and someone recommended me OnHolidays because they help you to find a hotel room or a house in Australia and this is the country with a very interesting culture and educated people.
