Igo 8.3.2.97313 + HD2 + auto-rotation/tilt + HIGH RESOLUTION - how to?... - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

Hi,
Currently trying 9.3.2.97313 on Winmo 6.5 emulator (haven't got my hd2, yet) and I'm having difficulty configuring it to support both high-resolution landscape (800x480) and portrait (480x800) formats. inside the folder "ui_igo8" (located in data.zip) there are two sub-folders - "480_800" and "800_480", as well as some lower resolutions sub-folders, but they are irrelevant for us.
How do I set the "sys.txt" file?... I found out that "sys.txt" has to be configured correctly before installation. further changes to this file after the program is installed, won't apply in any case.
Did someone manage to make igo8 switch between the formats using the device's rotation-sensor (while maintaining the high resolution format), or its somewhat reinforced to support one format?...
Here's what I tried so far (pictures + "sys.txt" settings for each example) :
Boned-stock file - standard low resolution - landscape + portrait :
Code:
[folders]
app="%SDCARD%/iGO8"
[interface]
skin="ui_igo8"
maxzoom2d=6000000
show_exit=1
[debug]
skip_eula=1
landscape (stock, low resolution) - http://img697.imageshack.us/img697/2123/stocklandscape.png
portrait (stock, low resolution) - http://img248.imageshack.us/img248/6974/stockportrait.png
Changed file - high resolution (landscape setting inside "sys.txt") - landscape + portrait. look what happens in portrait mode :
Code:
[folders]
app="%SDCARD%/iGO8"
[interface]
skin="ui_igo8"
resolution_dir="800_480"
vga=1
screen_x=800
screen_y=480
maxzoom2d=6000000
show_exit=1
[rawdisplay]
autoconfig=1
highres=0
class="auto"
driver=GDI
[debug]
skip_eula=1
landscape (you can see a clear improvement in quality over the stock landscape) - http://img42.imageshack.us/img42/4323/highlandscape.png
portrait (not being scaled to fit *argh*) - http://img188.imageshack.us/img188/8821/highportraite.png
of course, I can switch between 800_480 to 480_800 inside sys.txt each time before I install the application, but it won't make the application do the switch automatically. I tried to set two individual "resolution_dir", won't change anything.
I read that htc HD users tend to add "autoconfig=1" under [rawdisplay], in order to make it switch (I doubt it'll maintain the correct resolution, it will probably use stretch/resize algorithms instead of using original files). as you can see, I tried that also, but it won't change anything.
I'll appreciate any suggestion...
Thanx!

I do not think iGO8 can switch the screen automatically. It need to be restarted each time for screen rotation.

That´s right. Unfortunately you have to restart iGO after manually setting your direction in the settings.
I hope in future it, just like CoPilot, rotates automatically and pinching will be available.

thanks guys. I guess I'll have to live the manual way for some time... probably until the next version of iGo is out...

oki
I have a Mio A501 Phone device, with WM5
I instal the iGO 8.3.xx with 2009.02 europ maps ... but after I walk 1 km the device has blocked
if I instal iGO 8.0.xx with old maps ... the device function very well ... but iGO 8.0.xx dont sport the new maps 2009.02
i think the device Mio A501 dont have inought memory for iGO 8.3.xx ... in this case what can I do, what must to write or change in the sys.txt

On iPhone version, iGO MyWay 2009, it can rotate screen automatically using G-sensor, but not in Windows Mobile version. iGO should be restarted each time But may be in iGO 8.4 amigo (same as iGO myWay 2009 iphone version), but I can try it after 3 days.. (my leo comes)

I hate amigo's GUI, too simplified. I'd rather wait for the next navn'go.

I agree with Fatherboard ,
iGO 8 is the best in Nav N go series

no solution here?
I would really like to enable switching between landscape and portrait without having to change the system file every time. We need to find a way to get that going in the settings...
I need ideas to test a little bit...

Although this thread is a bit "old", try using BSB Tweaks 1.5...

You have it in the settings: Just go to Settings -> Device -> Set Screen Orientation.

Yes,it work well on my td2.
I've tried to install G-Config from the attached CAB file, however when I launch it i get an error saying it requires a newer version of the Microsoft .NET compact framework than I currently have. Does anyone know where i would get this.
I tried running windows update on my phone but it didn't find anything.
google for compact .net 3.5
Thanks everyone, I'll install it
If by default, only which application are allowed in landscape mode for TD2?
I tried it, and it works - but some applications don't support it. The most surprising one is iGo 8.

igo8 either start in landscape or portrait. it can't be change with any rotation programm. and besides you can rotate igo8 in its own menu.

According to iGo 8 website it doesn't support the td2 screen resolution.

igo8 portrait OK landscape in VGA ???

When i run igo8 i portait it is in WVGA but in landscape it runs in VGA with black space on the right ...any help? idea ?
do you mean QVGA ? -> "When i run igo8 i portait it is in WVGA "
have you tryed to rotate the screen in to landscape mode before you start IGO ?
I run IGO8 with script for Mortscript, its easy and rotates screen before run IGO8 and after end IGO8 rotates back.
Just install Mortscript and save these to file IGO.txt, copy to PDA and rename to IGO.mscr and run
Code:
Rotate(270)
Runwait( "\Program Files\iGO8\Igo8.exe" )
Rotate(0)

Keyboard problems
I'm no novice at this, and ahve installed IGO8 and Tomtom on several differetn windows mobile devices... but on my new touch2, I have a problem - the keyboard seems to work incorrectly, whenever I go to address input, there's alreads an accented 'A' at the start, that I can't delete. This happends on whatever version of IGO I try, versions that work fine on other devices.

Go to settings->device->and set "use device settings"
Sys.txt line for power settings...
Add
[power]
backlight_events = 3
to your sys.txt (in the device file inside the data.zip they changed this to 1,3,5,7 or so and this generates unwanted key events...)
It will work no matter what you set in power settings.

I think most of the data inside your sys.txt is not necessary (unless you are using an older version of iGo). I had a HD and I am using the same sys.txt for this device:

I had that bug too... You can solve it by modifying the keybind.txt file:
Code:
Open data.zip/config/keybind.txt
In the section [default] add:
x87="NOP"
xE5="NOP"
Landscape should work when you select it in iGo. Auto rotation is still not supported...

iGO 8 on HD 2 - Pinch 2 Zoom + Rotation With high resolution mode..

Hello friends, I got my HD 2 yesterday.
I tried to install iGO 8 (that was previously installed on my HD) to my HD 2.
When I tried to rotate screen (portrait to landscape or viceversa) by using iGO8/Menu/Settings/Device Sett./Screen , I got a clipped screen. Then with a small modify I got my real Screen Size without clipping and now I can pass from landscape to portrait without any clipping. Now I will explain how I did.
And, you are high resolution mode, it is perfect....
First: I use iGO8 v 8.3.2.93112 , I think that it should work for all 8.3 series.
Step by step:
Before begin: if there is iGO8/save/system.ini file you should delete it, on the first run iGO will compose one for the device
A. Pinch To Zoom
A1. Automatic Method (Installing Cab File that insert registry key automatically)
For pinch to zoom, all you should do is install Pinch2Zoom.cab and Reset your device
A2. Manual Method (Insert key with a registry editor)
If you want to make it manually, you can make it with a registry editor.
If you do not have one, here is PHM Regedit..
1.Install and Run PHM Regedit
2.Go to (by clicking) HKLM\Software\HTC\TouchGL\VirtualDesktop\WhiteList
3.Click Edit>New Key --- Name it iGO8 (this name is optional)
4.Click the Key you created and Click Edit> New String Value
Write the options Below
Value Name: ProcName
Value Data: iGO8.exe
And click OK, Close Regedit, Reset your device..
Note: You can add many softwares into the whitelist, so you can enable Pinch to zoom on that softwares,
This is How I described for iGO8.exe, only you should know is the name of Exe file that the software runs.
B. Rotation and High Resolution
1. Change Your sys.txt content (backup your old one) with I gave below, (your sys.txt should be only 6 lines below, delete all other lines.)
2. Check inside the ui_igo folder in SDCard/iGO8/data.zip if there is 480_800, 800_480, 240_400, 400_240 folders inside it. (There must be ;-) ) If not you should find one data.zip that I recommend
3. Install iGO8 normally (with 2577/Autorun.exe), make your local configurations etc. and exit iGO8.
4. Add the lines I gave below into SDCARD/iGO8/save/system.ini
5. Start iGO8 again, if the screen is not clipped, you can change from portrait to landscape. I tried it and succeed.
So my sys.txt is: (6 lines below)
Code:
[folders]
app="%SDCARD%/iGO8"
[interface]
maxzoom2d=6000000
show_exit=1
Lines to add in iGO8/save/system.ini
Code:
[rawdisplay]
class="portrait"
autoconfig="1"
driver="gdi"
highres="0"
highres="0" line is important for High Resolution mode
Happy Navi
Note: app="%SDCARD%/iGO8" this line should be modified for the devices that are not WWE. This line is for WWE ROM. %SDCARD% name should be changed for other languages.
Very good!
Can you post your complete sys.txt file content, please???
that is the complete..
get that 6 lines, erase your sys.txt's content, add only these 6 lines..
Ok, now the app rotate in a right way, thanks.
But... I've not the hi-res version of the application running, as you can see from the screenshot...
Any help?
data.zip and branding.zip content
will pm you in 15 min
And what vers. on iGO8 u use?
Oh, ok.
I use 8.3.4.102680 and I've this sys.txt content:
Code:
[device]
type="ALIAS_TOUCH HD"
sdcard_dsk_num=7
[folders]
app="%SDCARD%/iGO8"
[interface]
skin="ui_igo8"
resolution_dir="800_480"
vga=1
screen_x=800
screen_y=480
maxzoom2d=6000000
show_exit=1
[rawdisplay]
autoconfig=1
highres=0
class="landscape"
driver=GDI
[loading]
show_statustext=0
show_progressbar=0
progressbar_x=0
progressbar_y=220
[navigation]
show_current_city=1
show_countrychange=1
In this way I've hires!
1.backup your sys.txt
2.Create new text file and copy the 6 lines I gave above paste in it. rename txt file to sys.txt and put it in iGO 8 folder.
3.Uninstall iGO8. Remove iGO8 folder from Programfiles (using File Explorer)
4.Delete iGO8/save/system.ini file. (backup old one)
5.Reinstall iGO8 and add 3 lines above into system.ini ..
Try again..

Friends now I can put iGO8 from landscape to portrait or viceversa.
And it is in High Resolution mode, Quality is perfect..
All you should do is in the first post..

pinch to zoom works with ZOOOMER (do a search here). until now it zooms the whole app. but maybe in a future version it can be done that only the map is zoomable with 2 finders
tried zoomer already but it is useless with iGo, I've seen a video where the pinch zoom worked, so there must be a way...
.... I do not now about that.. I should search.
Only the thing I made iGO8.3.X work properly, and can be rotateable by iGO8's settings menu.. And also High resolution..
I like iGO8 and Iknow that most of the navigation lovers like iGO8..
Thanks a lot, works brilliantly, can't get over how fast and smooth this device is...

Hi
Ive been running OziExp CE on the HD2 without a hitch.
The secret is to use the screen designer and set the resolution to Pocket PC 240x320. I've tried using a custom 480x800 but it simply wont work!

Attached shows OziExplorer in landscape. I've done no mods to Ozi.
Ozi works very well on my HD2 (used in on stock roms and custom roms)
I really like the pinch-to-zoom feature in Ozi. (First not factory supported app. on which pinch-to-zoom is working, because zooming in Ozi actually is done by blowing up a bitmap without rescaling)
To get pinch-to-zoom AND rotation working in Ozi use BsBTweaks 1.6. No messing around with the registry, just launch and shake

I haven't tried routing but then I've never used that.
Here's a bunch of entries to support landscape for GoogleMaps, OziExplorer, Garmin and File Explorer.
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\WhiteList]
"GMaps"="GoogleMapsMobile"
"OziExp"="OziExplorer"
"FileMan"="FEXPLORE"
"Garmin"="QUE_SUBAPP_WND_CLASS"
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\ModuleName]
"GMaps"="\Program Files\GoogleMaps\GoogleMaps.exe"
"OziExp"="\Storage Card\OziExplorer 2\OziExplorerCE.exe"
"FileMan"="\Windows\fexplore.exe"
"Garmin"="\Storage Card\Garmin\Apps\WM\QuePPC.exe"[/SIZE]

The question is not in that how rotate OziCE screen. By the way, it is easier to use BsB Tweaks 1.6 for this purpose .
OziCE does not use WVGA but only stretches it up to 800х480. OziCE use Dev - Portrait 240w x 320h.par1 in portrait mode.
It is possible to use OziCE Screen Designer and to create Dev - Portrait 480w x 800h.par1, but it is too big when it loaded.
To check more precisionally try to press COURSE UP button on the screen .
In mode LANDSCAPE try to look through pages.
But better is to be on road and to make it in the car.
About ROUTING I already wrote.
In general it is necessary to wait the version for WM 6.5 800x480.
I have found - it is a problem with .ECW map format reading .ECW from SDHC 8GB card.
If you convert it to .OZFX3 - NO PROBLEM
