FlashRec (One Click Root) Question ? - Hero CDMA Themes and Apps

I was wondering has anyone tried this method. It states that the Sprint HTC Hero is supported. I have watched the GSM Hero and the myTouch 3g videos by The Unlockr and he used this method. It seems like this is the easy way of doing things. Please give feedback if you have any. Thanks

Heh, sorry...I had spent just about all my time this last week on XDA and needed to get some fresh air for a day.
I've used it however since the day it came out...there was a post a while ago about it in the development forums (the first day we got root ^_^) and it works great to flash the recovery image (CDMA version of Amon-RA's image...check it out in the development forums)

[GUIDE] Rooting the G1 (UK bias)

I know there's already plenty of these around but people still seem unsure about doing this (especially users on UK G1s) so last night, I un-rooted my phone and created a new guide complete with screenshots at every step of the way.
It's rooting on a UK G1 at the latest firmware revision (CRC37 at the time of writing) right through to running CM 4.04.
I tested it as I went along (to create screenshots as well) and it worked fine for me and I know that someone else has also already used it and it worked OK for him too.
Please have a look and check it out and let me know what you think and feel free to suggest any additions (or spelling mistakes)
I'm going to do another next week for un-rooting and I will probably also do another for upgrading the radio and putting on haykuro's "danger" SPL.
Anyway, site is here http://lordsmiff.nl

Smiffy.

best "rooting" method

hello! ive been on these forum ever since they opened a forum for the captivate . and well i dont have a captivate at the moment but i will be getting it next week and was just wondering what is the best rooting method YOU used.... or you would recommend. ive seen quite a few but not sure which one to use. some from here and some from androidforums. some from dl certain files and extracting to one click rooting. and if it helps i have a mac . any suggestions is greatly appreciated! looking forward to my captivate next week!
I personally used SRE, although it's not solely a rooting tool, it just includes rooting. But it does make the phone much much better so you may want to get it anyway.
Here's the SRE thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=751934
Search on here, for one click root for captivate, I used it last night, and it was easy, took longer for the phone to re boot then to root!!

[Q] New to android, Can you point me in the right direction?

hey, i am a current Maemo 5 user and untill 2 days ago a iphone user aswell.
i got so sick of the iphone, with it being slow and restricted even after i jail broke it.
anyway 2 days ago i got offered a trade for my iphone 3g 8gb for a HTC Magic (Vodafone) , this is the first time i had ever used the Android OS and i was very impressed with it, so much better than iOS.
So as i am still very much a beginner on this platform i was wondering if you could point me in the right direction on rooting it. I know you probably get this all the time, but i have spent hours on Google and have found a lot of different methods to root it, and i am unsure on which one to take, with so much different information it kinda gets confusing after a while .
so if someone could post a link on a good guide for me to start on and working links for the files needed, that would be most appreciated.
i am fairly technical minded as i successfully Flash/Mod/Hack Xbox 360, Wii, PS3, PSP, Iphone and other things....
the info that i think is relevant for which guide i need to follow.
HTC Magic (Vodafone)
Firmware Version : 1.6
Sapphire PVT 32B Ship S-ON G
HBOOT-1.33.0004
CPLD-10
Vodafone Branded
My main goal for rooting is that i want to remove the Vodafone app and splash screen, and in my experience Generic Firmwares are normally alot better, I heard sumat about using Custom ROMS?
and one question, do i need to back up all the contacts etc before rooting?
Thanks to anyone who helps me, and sorry if i have posted it in the wrong section.
Here, and here.
Search is your friend.
thanks very much.
i actually rooted it and installed cyanogen 6 last night, was to late to post that i had done it.
it was extremely easy surprisingly
anyway all is going good apart from 2 things.
when the GPS initiates (the little satellite flashes on status bar.) the phone reboots, everytime. not sure why. but i have had to disable GPS until i can fix it.
will this be a suitable fix? hxxp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=782242
and alot of the time my signal bars show no signal, but it jumps up and down abit , then goes back to zero...
but other than that i love it now

best root methon as of now

My gf is going to get her phone today I'm not a stranger to rooting and stuff but I look on this forum and their seems to be none that are up to date maybe I'm missing it but if anyone could point me in the way of a simple root and recovery also what is the best combo for radio and prls and stuff like that if its needed also I was thinking of using unrevoked does that work?
ATTN1's Ace Hack Kit is the most up to date and most supported of most any android rooting method and just happens to be pretty much the only game in town for the Inspire anyway. Unrevoked currently doesn't support Inspire/DHD.

I'm gonna go ahead and give you the benefit of the doubt and guess that the thread title was updated after you made this post, but the thread title states (Updated 14-09-11) which is yesterday. Doesn't get much more up to date than that. I'm pretty sure before that it was updated 13-09-11, and before that it was 11-08-11 (updated after gingerbread release so it could root GB as well)...how up to date are you looking to get???
Crazy Europeans and their day first date scheme... jk

[Q] HTC Detail = Evo Shift, Root?

I did a brief search (both on Google and XDA) and came up with very little.
For your info - The Detail is pretty much an unbranded Evo Shift, available for MNVO's... My colleague just picked up one through Credo Mobile (Sprint). The device came with Android 2.2 out of the box, so is it possible to perma-root this device?
If so, would it be possible to use EVO Shift roms on the device? I know that its impossible to answer these questions without actually having a device to test - i'm pretty much just bouncing ideas off you guys.
Any information/ideas would be helpful. Thank you in advance.
try here, it should work if I understand your questions.

Does this work?
Please let us know if this works. There is virtually no information whatsoever right now on rooting this phone. The only other thread I can find is androidpit dot com/en/android/forum/thread/437546/Rooting-the-HTC-Detail (anti-spam prevents me from posting links)
and it does not provide a conclusion.
I've been looking at this phone as well and am wondering the same thing. I don't want to get a phone that I can't root, and this is a time sensitive decision.
From everything I've read online it is just a rebranded Shift, but I can't seem to find any deep tech details on the phone to see if there are any minor differences that would prevent using Shift root method/ROMs.
I think it works
I got an HTC Detail from Credo a week ago. Am brand new to Android.
I think I just successfully rooted it, by following instructions on youTube
qbking77:
How to root and clockworkmod the HTC EVO Shift 4G on Android 2.2
(forum not allowing me to post a link since i am new and not yet to be trusted)
my phone seemed to work just like the Evo Shift in the video.
I'm running supreme sense v5 rom on my rooted htc detail from credo. It works exactly the same as the shift when it rooted it using instructions for the shift. Before i flashed ss i was using bcnice's kernel with the stock rom, which also worked fine.
The thing that i noticed that made me feel confident was that it is pg06100, exactly the same as the shift.
Sent from my PG06100 using XDA App
CyanogenMod 7.10
I have successfully rooted the Detail using clockworkrecovery and CyanogenMod 7.10, following the directions on the HTC Detail Root HowTo on the Cyanogen Wiki.
Has anyone else that has rooted this phone had any problems sending and receiving MMS or long text messages that need to be split up? Since rooting trying to send long texts says "Sending" for a long time and eventually fails. If it says sent, it usually comes back as failed shortly after. MMS usually says "Sent" but never shows up for the recipient.
Not sure if it will cure the issue. But you can try booting into Recovery. Then wipe Cache, wipe Dalvik, and reboot.
I know on some AOSP ROMS you have to go into the messaging settings and click the split at 160 thing to get the phone to send more than one message at a time, but I'm not sure about MMS, there might be a few things that need changed for you?
Shifted to the extreme, cause I rawk Supreme
I may be a bit late on catching this add, but yes. You can do a full root
Follow VICODAN's thread for most recent links:

Also if you want to do MMS, I made a how-to. It only seems to work for 2.3.4 mods however (I recommend NewSENSE)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1824916
Good luck! I am currently trying to find an image of Credo Mobile's to unroot myself. That is more trouble it seems than the Sprint's for sure.
