[ROM] 26/Jan 2.2 - MoDaCo Custom ROM for Sprint CDMA Hero - Hero CDMA Android Development

I'm pleased to present my MoDaCo Custom Hero ROM for the CDMA Hero! No wipe is required for this ROM.
You can now create a customised ROM containing only the parts you required - click here to read more about the MoDaCo Custom Custom ROM online kitchen!
MCR now optionally includes Wavesecure in ROM, allowing you to lock / locate / wipe your device remotely in the event of loss and be notified if the SIM is changed. The application cannot be uninstalled by a thief and we are actively working with Wavesecure to ensure that in a forthcoming release, your settings will survive a hard reset!
This ROM is based on the updated 'MR' ROM release series (together with my own optimisations) for the best possible performance! The ROM is packaged as a core version with optional add on packs.
Included in the 'core'
- Now includes a MoDaCo Custom Kernel 1.2 with EXT3/4, Compcache support, extended iptables support, NFS/CIFS, tun module and much more! To enable compcache, use the kitchen or edit /system/init.d/compcache.sh- Built with my new MCR build process which reduces size and boost speed of the ROM
- Rooted with 'adb remount' permission and superuser APK
- A2SD included (fully automatic - thanks cyanogen!) - create a EXT2 partition as your second partition to use. dalvik-cache remains on device.
- Added Jbed Java
- Added Dropbear SSH running by default, check 'About' screen for password (port 2222). You can now remove this by running /system/bin/removedropbear.sh
- Added Notes app from Dragon
- Added Spare Parts (run it and switch the 2 animation types to 'fast' for an even better experience!)
- Added WiFi Status indicator, with kind permission of Andrew Schwimmer
- Added busybox 1.15.3 with Droid Explorer support
- Added nano 2.09 - text editor for use in shell mode
- Added parted and sqlite tools
- Added terminfo and settings to boot.img to allow nano etc. use
- Added files required for Debian linux including loxley's updated bootdeb script
- Added all 4 available HTC widgets
- Moved Quickoffice to data partition to allow easy uninstall
- Moved Google Maps and Google Voice Search to data partition to allow easy update
- Deleted 'Learn More' application
- Silenced boot sound (it's still there and can be reactivated with a file edit)
- You can now check your MoDaCo Custom ROM (MCR) version from the about menu
Included in main 'enhanced' add on pack
- Added Business Card Scanner
- Added WAP browser
Other optional add on packs (apply as normal update zips)
- 'WaveSecure' add on pack (puts Wavesecure in ROM - it is no longer in core)
- 'Boot Sounds' add on pack (restores boot sounds)
- 'Hebrew Fonts' add on pack (installs hebrew fonts)
Recommended applications (available from the market)
- More Locale for setting non english Locales
Downloads

ENSURE YOU DO A NANDROID BACKUP SO YOU CAN 'ROLL BACK' IF REQUIRED!
Please note that first boot may take a little while, especially if you have a lot of apps on your A2SD partition. Be patient! If you want a real clean start or you have issues with your existing A2SD installed apps when you boot, you need to wipe your EXT2 partition on SD too by executing 'adb shell rm -r /system/sd/app', 'adb shell rm -r /system/sd/app-private' and 'adb shell reboot'
The ROM is in an update.zip format for installation via the custom recovery image.
For the complete newbies, these are the steps you need to take with a 'virgin' Hero:
- Download and install (via rooting) the patched recovery image (step by step guide to follow)
- Download this custom ROM, and copy it to your SD card
- Enter the recovery image (if you're not in it already) by powering on while pressing 'home'
- Select 'nandroid backup' from the menu to do a backup
- If you copied the custom rom as update.zip, select 'apply sdcard:update.zip', else select the option below.
- all done
Feedback / feature requests welcome! This ROM is posted in multiple places - although I try to provide support everywhere the ROM is posted, of course you will receive the quickest response at MoDaCo.
Finally, if you like the MoDaCo Custom ROMs, consider supporting MoDaCo by visiting the subscriptions page and upgrading your account.

Congrats on releasing the first ROM for the Sprint Hero! Will try it out tonight.

I am soo scared to try. I have it rooted with a recovery image and flashing is no problems for me but this being the first. YIKES!!! Your one of the best in the game, but like my dad would tell me ARE YOU CRAZY!!! If i hear good news i am on board.

willing to take the plunge, but core link is broken.
*edit* Link is working! Here goes nothing!

downloading now!! I will give it a try.. Oh and the link works now
~Fearless~

Link fixed.
OBVIOUSLY, Nandroid backup first.
P

Thank you Modaco! Thank you! I can't develop roms! lol. Not good at it apparently. Are you still uploading it though? Getting a 404. Soon as I download it I will be proud and happy to be a guinea pig.

Ignore my last post. Downloading now. Will let you all know how it works.

As I said in the first post, I have no CDMA Hero to test on, so we might need a few builds before we get any issues ironed out... we'll see!

[PORT][32B][ROM] 04/09/2009 JACxHEROSkiv1.6r2 - MoDaCo custom Hero 1.51 merge

Hi All,
Ive ran Deciest's ROM conversion script against the MoDaCo\JACSkiv port that Akirah did over in the Dream forum. Here
Its bloomin fast for me so I though you guys might like to try it. This is my first port so be gentle As usual Nandroid yourself up first
Info from MoDaCo Link
This ROM is based on a test version of the 'new update' (together with my own optimisations) for the best possible performance! As soon as the 'new update' goes 'SHIP' status, I will provide a new custom ROM.
- Rooted with 'adb remount' permission and superuser APK
- Quickoffice moved to data partition to allow easy uninstall
- Deleted 'Learn More' application
- Deleted Maps application - install from the Android Market to always stay up to date
- Added Jbed Java
- Added Business Card Scanner
- Added busybox 1.15 - tweaked such that 'get information' in Swapper now works as desired
- Added nano 2.09
- Added terminfo and settings to boot.img to allow nano etc. use
- Added android-wifi-tether 1.52
- Added WMSM
- Added tun.ko file
- Added spare parts
- Added Custom Locale for setting non english Locales
- ROM now includes 'Plurk' client
- ROM now includes WAP browser
- ROM now includes touch focus in Camera app
- ROM now supports shortcuts using BetterCut (and therefore I assume anycut!) in Rosie
- Updated A2SD (ext3), now runs on initial boot
- Used APN config file with additional APNs
- Preinstalled files required for Debian linux [edit: this seems to be broken for some reason, investigating!]
ENSURE YOU DO A NANDROID BACKUP SO YOU CAN 'ROLL BACK' IF REQUIRED!
A 'wipe' is MANDATORY when installing this ROM, and you MUST do this BEFORE applying the update zip (as the update zip puts files on the data partition)! I also recommend you install the latest radio from my 'update zips' topic if you have not done so.
Please note that first boot may take a little while, especially if you have a lot of apps on your A2SD partition. Be patient! If you want a real clean start or you have issues with your existing A2SD installed apps when you boot, you need to wipe your EXT3 partition on SD too by executing 'adb shell rm -r /system/sd/app', 'adb shell rm -r /system/sd/app-private' and 'adb shell reboot' wink.gif
The ROM is in an update.zip format for installation via the custom recovery image, I also recommend installing the latest radio. As always, do a Nandroid backup before you do anything... just in case! wink.gif
For the complete newbies, these are the steps you need to take with a 'virgin' Hero:
- Download the patched recovery image linked above and install as detailed in that post
- all done

Are the instructions the same for the sapphire?
Do I need to install the linked Radio and recovery, or can i just install with my current set up (radio-2.22.19.261, recovery-RAv1.2.0G). The posted instructions are for a Hero, pardon my noobness.
No, I didn't do that. I posted the original thread for reference. I just did the usual wipe\factory reset, wipe ext2, flash and it was all good.
HTH
Kernel?
A or B
Is it the custom Jac kernel (B) or the HTC source (A)?
Awesome ROM, would love to test it if you ever released a 32A version
This rom have timestamp issues as well? I haven't followed Hero development for a while..

Thanks, so what CPU/Swapper settings are you using to get it running "bloomin" fast? Are you using cache2sd or anything else that you think helps?
I would like to know this too.
thanks in advance
So far so good..... testing now
Really FAST! ... thus far set up went blazzing fast, faster setup than ANY other hero, and I have tested them ALL
Will report once i run it ragged and see if it gets laggy
FYI
I have
-NO overclocker
-linux-swap size 64mb
Smooth!
I've had a few launcher loads, but that's OK when it's running this fast.
Typing is the most responsive I've ever tried - on any rom. But we'll see in a few hours
Great!
Good!
So far so good!
It's really fast!
thanks for your hard work!
Someone check the timestamps! There's no mention of them in either the Dream thread, or the original Hero thread.
Need to know if it's worth my time to port it to 32A!
Hi,
Sorry for the delay, long drive home.
I'm using the overclock widget set to 248/528 with screen on and standard speed with the screen off.
At the minute I have 96mb swap.
Loving this ROM can't wait for the official hero update if this is a taste of things to come.
Testing right now....looks really good so far. Great job! Keep up the solid work
mirror =]
Anyone feel like mirroring this? Hehe I don't have my laptop with me and I'm very eager to try this, but as you all know Rapidshare+Android=Epic Fail
Is this a port of the 1.5.1 or just 1.5?
This IS thee FASTEST, MOST RESPONSIVE Hero EVER!!!
It runs with NO htc or loading screens
I have ALL screens full with htc widgets (41 apps)
(Big calendar, message, mail, flip clock, tweeter, browser w/images, tech buzz)
VERY smooth transistion from screen to home when home button pressed.
Issues:
-BlueTooth does NOT work (pairs and connects, but no sound to headset)
-Flip clock does NOT flip (maybe not a issue, but an update)
Works:
-WiFi
-Auto Rotate
-GPS
-SMS (still testing) (time stamp accurate)
*Again I have a 64mb swap
*No overclocker
All in All .... BEST Hero EVER
I grabbed the .zip from the 1st post (MoDaCo-sapphire.zip), wiped data, and installed. Seemed fine, but then received constant 'force close' messages when first starting up. Also got the "blurry" screen of death MT3G
Anyone else see this behavior?

Same thing happened to me. I just now did a factory reset, booted to recovery, did a wipe, formatted the card completely, restored the image again and I'm booting up right now. I will follow up with the results.

I had same problem as yours.
But, I have my sd card partitioned fat32, ext3 and swap, and I haved used evilD's Rom.
According to his early comment, I'd better to format only ext3 partion everytime I flash new rom.
After format, the problems was gone.

[ROM][32A][32B] 13/09 2.2 - MoDaCo Custom ROM, Hero to Sapphire (optional 4.1.11.1)

READ FIRST - I am no longer updating my ROMs - details.
If you're following the Hero scene, you'll know that I have published a custom ROM based on the 1.73.405.5 shipping ROM. I have a Vodafone Magic (32B) and a T-Mobile G1 kicking around (and HTC want my PR review unit Hero back!), so figured it would be cool to firstly build a really simple way for me to package my ROMs for all 3 devices, and secondly try and produce an update.zip that runs on all 3!
Well, the first step is here, I have the MoDaCo Custom ROM ready to install on your Sapphire 32B device (and a 32A version is available to test).
Things you should know...
- Contents are IDENTICAL to the MoDaCo Custom ROM versions detailed here.
- I have used cyanogen's kernel from 4.0.4 (big respect to cyanogen, he's doing awesome work!)
- Now compcache ready - use this script for a big performance boost!
It has room for improvement, but it runs really sweet already IMHO!
The download link (in update.zip format for flashing in the usual way via recovery image) is at: http://android.modaco.com/content/h...-modaco-custom-rom-hero-to-sapphire-32b-port/
I've packaged Cyanogen's 4.1.11.1 BFS enabled Kernel and wlan.ko as an update.zip too (see above thread) - nandroid backup before applying!
I've quoted some of my original Hero post here, so you know what you're getting. Enjoy!

Is this ready to go as far as elimintating the blurry screen AND wifi ??
Just asking as the 1.5 and 1.51 both gave me fuzzys, and applying the update eliminated the fuzzys but took away wifi !
Either way. Thank You SOOO much I knew if I waited you'd give us something nice for the holiday !
You think a wipe would be needed going from 1.51 to 2.1?

to avoid any possible issues, I'd suggest a fresh wipe. I didnt add to much after the last rom I flashed so im gonna start over with my sdcard as well
A wipe is always wise, but SHOULDN'T be necessary...
P
Going to try this one now. How is the bluetooth support? Can paired headsets now actually work when calling?
re: support for ANYTHING other than WiFi and Camera (which both work), I don't know!
Let me know stuff that doesn't work, and i'll try to fix it in the next version.
Consider this a starting point...
P
For 32A I recommend the 2.6.29 kernel that redglasses uses on his Hero ROM:
http://www.2shared.com/file/7555649/5881ee4a/myhero-110.html
Might be stuck, d'oh!
So far, did a nandroid, wiped, etc. Updated, rebooted, and after asking for the language and network settings it's sat at a blank screen for some time. Status bar at the top, if left alone and hit the call button the dialer will appear and afterwards you'll see the unlock screen. But it just unlocks back to a blank screen. :/
So far this is the first ROM I've run into that's done this interesting bit. Will maybe reformat SD Card and rewipe, or something.
Nevermind. Rebooted, and it somehow proceeded this time around. Strange, though :/
dont really care for blutooth sound, but will it work for wireless tether ?? thats what I miss from using non hero roms.. having wifi back is also nice !!
Success!
Only noticeable thing is that when you go to far away from the home screen (going into settings, the dialer, etc), and return, it has to reload again for about 10 seconds. But once it's there it's fairly snappy.
Bluetooth pairs and works like it should! I might just hold onto this version of the ROM and tinker with it for a while.

i just flashed this and still am getting the fuzzys !! grr,, guess i have to flash the update over the rom and loose wifi ??

WiFi, etc works. Other problem : G Sensors aren't working D'oh

My swap's a bit rediculously larger. It's not that bad a lag, but only really noticeable when going back "home" from an application.
No swap or compcache etc. out of the box yet, let's fathom out the best settings together!

I'll upload a 32A version for someone to test...

modaco,
I am having all kinds of problems with this rom im still getting a blurry screen, it froze on me 3 times, im stuck in portrait and i keep getting the htc loading screen. I downloaded the file twice to eliminate possiblity of a faulty download as well.
mytouch...amonra 1.2.1, ext3. might have to go back to 1.51 that one worked great
I can confirm that this is running beautifully on my 32A device using redglasses/myhero boot.img and wlan.ko.
Seems to be significantly faster than the 1.73 builds, thank you modaco! Now you just need the 2.84+ build as well

A: Yes. This newest version of CE uses version 7 of the OC'd multasking kernel. It's overclocked to 576MHz. If you're not comfortable with having your G1/MT3G being OC'd, you can scale it back down to 528MHz with SetCPU.
Q: I have a myTouch3G, do I need the DangerSPL?
A: No. I'm still running the stock SPL on my MT3G Classic... you're good to go.
Q: Do I need to have the DangerSPL on my G1?
A: Yes, the DangerSPL is a requirement for CE 2.2.1.
Q: What steps do I need to take to flash the DangerSPL?
A: Follow this guide on the CyanogenMod wiki. Make sure you also check that you have a compatible radio version as well. If you don't have the proper radio flashed first, YOU WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE. That being said, the instructions in the wiki are very well-written and straight-forward, if you can follow them, you'll be fine.
Q: Can I use CE 2.2.1 on the myTouch Fender Edition or myTouch 1.2 (the newer version with the headphone jack)?
A: XDA member "mistere372002" confirms that CE 2.2.1 works.
Q: Can I use CE 2.2.1 on my EBI1/32A phone?
A: XDA member "kwanbis" reports that you can use CE 2.2.1 on EBI1/32A phones. See the write-up with patch links here.
Q: Do I REALLY need to wipe before flashing?
A: It's recommended that you do a full wipe when flashing a major upgrade or switching ROMs - unless of course the Dev says it's a no-flash update. If you want to backup your apps and data, I suggest checking out Titanium Backup and MyBackup Pro in the Market.
Q: If I'm coming from CM5 (or any other CM5 variant) do I still need to wipe?
A: People have reported that it is possible to make a no-wipe transition from CM5 based ROMs to CE 2.2.1 - but it is still recommended you to a complete wipe to avoid any issues. Flash without wiping at your own risk.
Q: How long should I wait after flashing before I can start setting up CE 2.2.1?
A: The best way to know when the first boot setup is done is to watch the logcat - when it stops scrolling like crazy and settles down, the ROM has finished loading. If you're not at a computer that you can watch the logcat from, a good rule of thumb is to let it sit for about 10 minutes while the ROM does it's first boot procedures. (I've personally clocked it at about 5 minutes while watching logcat.)
Q: How can I watch the logcat?
A: Assuming you have ADB setup as a system variable in Windows - connect your phone to your computer via USB and type the following into a command prompt:
Code:
adb shell
logcat
Q: Where are the Market, GMail and all the other Google Apps?
A: Download the Google Add-on zip. Reboot into recovery, flash the zip from there.
Q: I'm pretty new to all this flashing stuff, can you give me a step-by-step guide on how to do it?
A: Follow the guide I wrote here.
*** TROUBLESHOOTING A BAD FLASH ***
Q: I decided not to wipe before flashing. Now I'm having problems with getting apps to install to my SD card, what can I do to fix this?
A: XDA members "rumsey" and "mr_deimos" have figured out a fix for those that decided not to wipe first. Note: It is still recommended you do a full wipe and follow the flashing guide in order to avoid Apps2SD issues from the start.
Q: If I have Apps2SD turned on, will the Google Apps install to my SD card?
A: No, they do not. XDA member "cloverdale" talks more about it here.
Q: I've tried flashing the Google Apps, but my G1 is stuck on the loading screen, what can I do to fix this?
A: Firerat talks about space issues with G1s here. Note: The steps he outlines are slightly outdated now, but I'm keeping it around for reference. Follow my step-by-step guide instead.
Q: I tried flashing the Black Theme from recovery, now I'm stuck on the G1 screen, what happened?
A: More then likely, you were very close to filling /system on the internal memory and the black theme pushed it to 100%. Try restoring the last backup you made and moving the ringtones from /system/media/audio/ringtones to your SD card. That should free up enough space for the black theme to flash correctly.
Q: I turned on Apps2SD, but I keep getting an error of "Insufficient Space", how can I fix this?
A: Firerat talks about space issues with G1s here. Note: The steps he outlines are slightly outdated now, but I'm keeping it around for reference. Follow my step-by-step flashing guide instead. Remember, myTouch3Gs have enough internal storage space that you more then likely won't ever need to turn on Apps2SD.
*** MISCELLANEOUS ***
Q: I don't like ADW Launcher, but I can't uninstall it, how can I fix this?
A: Type the following into your favorite terminal app on your phone:
Code:
su
mount -o rw,remount /system
rm -r /system/app/ADW.Launcher.0.7.7_standalone.apk
exit
exit
Q: I love the included ADW Launcher, but I want to replace the standard launcher with the newest ADW so I only have one... how can I do this?
A: Follow the mini-guide in my tweaking tips post.
Q: I'm not comfortable typing codes, is there another way to replace the launcher?
A: XDA member "sleepfu" has made an awesome video that shows you how to replace the regular Home app with ADW or LauncherPro without entering commands into terminal or ADB. Note: This is an old video now, I recommend following the mini-guide listed in the question above.
Q: How can I activate and setup swap?
A: Activate it with Firerat's All-in-One Patching Script. Set it up with Swapper2 from the market. Note: Do this at your own risk. There are multiple reports of swap causing random reboot issues on G1s, and it's not needed on the MT3G.
Q: Can I use JIT on this ROM?
A: It's been reported that you can - but I don't remember by whom. You'll have to search the forum, I don't use JIT on CE. Sorry.
Q: Why don't live wallpapers work?
A: Get Firerat's All-in-One Patching Script - instructions on how to use it are in the post. (If you followed my flashing guide, they should already be working.)
Q: Can I push the stock Nexus live wallpapers from another ROM - will they work?
A: Per Firerat, the stock Nexus live wallpapers will not work - but, LWPs from the Market will.
Q: I have a QWERTZ keyboard, but they keys aren't mapped correctly, how can I fix this?
A: XDA member "arceles" has researched a fix - follow his instructions here.
Q: I have a French keyboard on my phone (AZERTY), how can I remap the keys for my hardware?
A: XDA member "superpigeon" has a fix - follow his instructions here.
Q: I flashed the black theme, but now I can't see the time in the notification bar, how can I fix this?
A: Open your app tray, go down to Spare Parts. You can change your colors there. Reboot your phone to see the changes.
Q: My battery drains very quickly after flashing, what can I do to fix it?
A: Try doing the battery calibration procedure discussed in the troubleshooting section at the bottom of this page.
Q: I followed the detailed flashing guide exactly, but I'm having problems with my Wifi, how can I fix this?
A: Try flashing the Wifi Patch again from recovery. XDA member "TheLaughingMan" talks about it here.
Q: The volume is really low on my phone, how can I fix this?
A: Check out the Louder Volume Hacks by XDA member "Meltus". I recommend using the "Generation 7 v2r2" files, they give the best results. Follow the guide by "LucidREM" in that thread to install them or use your favorite file manager with root permissions to place the hack files in /system/etc.
Q: I tried using the loudspeaker, but sound is only coming from the regular handset speaker, how can I fix this?
A: Try the Louder Volume Hacks linked in the question above. That should correct the problem.
Q: People tell me that they can barely hear me on the phone, is there a way to fix this?
A: Flash this fix by Firerat from your recovery.
Q: It's so slow! How can I make it go faster?
A: While most people haven't had any problems with speed... those that DO have issues with CE crawling on their phones - or just want to try to squeeze a little more out of it - can check out the Tweaking Tips post I've started.

Cool! Couple of question:
- Does CE2.1 use Firerat's CacheHack so Danger is not required on the G1? (if Danger SPL is required, that should be mentioned)
- Is there no black notification bar version available?
Downloading & Flashing now
I'm downloading and flashing immediately! Hope we have voice to txt goodness! Thanks for all your hard work!
Awesome, been waiting for this ever since it was first mentioned. Thanks for all your hard work much appreciated. Just wondering though, is there gonna be a black theme release of this?
There will be a black theme available for download but Firerat and I decided that it should be a patch to flash over the original ROM. I'll upload it soon

With this being based on CM5, I'd imagine you'd recommend upgrading RA to current as well?

Cause I'm paranoid and like to make backups of everything before doing a major upgrade/flash.

Sounds good!
What about the DangerSPL requirement? Since it's based on CM5, I fear that Danger is required. I'll be disappointed if it is required since that was CE's big appeal to me...no need to risk flashing Danger.
Ok whats the difference between this rom and E-Xtremes 2.1?? compared the change log and seem to include the same stuff..

[ROM] [24/08] Froyo DeLite 1.1 - A New Begining

A short time ago in a room away from the wife, a custom rom was born...
Froyo DeLite - A New Begining
Upon looking for a rom for my own use, I came to the conclusion that no current rom, all are excellent rom's I might add entirely fitted my own need's...
Having recently hung up the rains developing a rarther well known games console 'jailbraking' tool, my fingers grew tiresome, so I pondered on the idea of creating my own rom.
So I hereby follow humbly in the footsteps of the great dev's before me and present to you my incarnation... Froyo DeLite - A New Begining.
screen shots to follow - but it is a plain Sense rom without any themes at all
---------------------------
DeLite in the features:
Based on HTC's 2.09.405.8 Sense based Froyo rom.
Rooted with bash & busybox.
A2SD+ with Ext4 support
720p HTC Camcorder
iTunes Sync - Requires HTC Sync 3.0.5387
Bookmark Sync - Requires HTC Sync 3.0.5387
Flash Player 10.1.92.8
Working Google Voice Search 2.0.1
Custom Boot Animation - Without sound
Removed HTC Car Panel, PDF Viewer, Quick Office, Stocks, GenieWidget, Footprints, NewsReader and Teeter
A Nandroid backup is advised before flashing.
DeLite in the requirements:
A rooted HTC Desire
DeLite in the downloads:
***If you are using Titanium Backup to restore apps & setting's, do not restore system setting's, this may cause Force Closes.
***If you have installed the Voice Search or Google Quick Search Box updates you will need to remove them prior to install
Rom - Froyo DeLite 1.1 - Odexed [139.91MB]
Rom - Froyo DeLite 1.1 - DeOdexed [138.15MB] - Same as above but DeOdexed for theme users
Radio - 32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2 [11.28MB] Required for Camcorder
HTC Sync - HTC Sync 3.0.5387 [52.86MB]
Mod Packs: Yes they are coming back
Ad-Block - replace the hosts file with one that blocks known ad servers
Where has all the other stuff gone?
I and others here thought that the 0.X revision was getting a little too complex, ending up requiring a wipe to fix all the issues it had, so as from Froyo DeLite 1.0 - A New Begining only small update packs will be released, this in theory will allow you to keep your setting's etc.
Ok, I bit into this, flashed it, and am now getting Force Closes's, what can I do?
A full wipe, yes I know, I know but sometimes this is the only solution, I can only go by my own experience, and so far from installing with a full wipe I have had no problems at all.
It was going so well, then I tried to use the Camcorder, The Desire threw a fit and the proceeded to reboot itself... what can I do?
Flash the Radio above (32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2)
If that gives you signal problems, try another '**.**.**.***-5.**.**.**' radio - Take note of the 5
To who I give thanks:
dsixda for the Kitchen - I must say this is an excellent tool, not just for beginners.
ChainsDD for Superuser.apk & su.
Paul @MoDaCo for scripts I have based by own versions on.

All of you who have taken the time to appreciate the work that goes in to what we do here.
Google for the Android OS
HTC for making a complete balls up of the Android OS that a 3rd party has to fix it.
Anyone else I have forgot to mention.
DeLite in the kindness of those who have donated:
***If you want your name here, PM me your PayPal transaction ID, or include your Forum Username in the notes.
pinkolin, Kickasskev, anonymous, anonymous
Finally:
If you would like to show your appreciation for the ROM, please

I did a wipe and emptied cache, trying to install with clockworkmod 2.5.1

Official AOSP 2.2 OTA -- [Installable on All Dream/Sapphire] (12/01/2010 PartsB)

Here is a flash image for the dream of the MT3G ASOP (T-mobile OTA) 2.2 release. Including the most recent security update!!!
[SIZE=+2]MT3G-test3_S.zip[/SIZE]
(MD5: efff33db482ea3b6da3b247516be6a7f .. last updated 11/21/2010)
Please note this includes my 20101106 - 2708 ported kernel, for those requiring other kernels see addons
Requires:
* [Size=+2]1.33.0013d or 1.33.0013 SPLs with recommend 2.22.28.25 radio[/size]
(32b devices only) details on this post..
If you refuse to upgrade or can't upgrade because you have a 32a (1.2 or classic) device: you will need an alternative kernel as described in step 4.b 4.c or the phone will not boot
Note: 2.22.27.08 will also work but is not how the ota was shipped
* Uesrs of other SPLs can either use Danger (dream only), any sapphire SPL on the magic/sapphire/MT3G or alternatively Custom MTD I recommend "87 2" (system/cache) {as of test3 06bindcache will work if you install the parts package, thus if you use CustomMTD parts is mandatory to avoid market issues}
To install:
1) Wipe with 'fastboot erase system -w' (A no-wipe upgrade from test-2 will probably work)
2) flash MT3G-test3_S.zip
3) You will be prompted if you wish to install AmazonMP3 (answer yes/no)
4) You will be prompted if you want to set gprsclass set to 12 (you probably wish to answer yes)
4.b) If you have a 32a or 32a 1.2 magic install the ebi1, ebi0 kernel respectively from here: http://goo.gl/qFJO
4.c) If you have a 32b dream/sapphire without the new 2708 spl/radio install the ebi0 kernel if your radio starts with 2.22, or the ebi1 radio if it starts with 3.22 here: http://goo.gl/qFJO
5) Optional flash "DroidX keyboard" add-on
6) Optional flash "parts" add-on
Alternatively the rom is now available in RomManager; and will install the rom and correct version of the 20110222 kernel; also will allow you to choose between the components parts, droidX keyboard, and language packs.
Whats included:
1) su/superuser from CM6
2) my cm6 optimized pershoot based kernel described here
3) wifi working
4) bluetooth working (fixed inv2)
5) keyboard working (fixed in v2)
6) Rom contains English/Spanish only (Other languages available as language pack addons)
7) No sim card required (fixed with v2 market fix)
Many additional packages included in the parts addon.
To see information on the original Test2 release vist This Post
What not working:
* CM6 potential USB power issue (its not horrible on 2.6.34.7 but if you notice it reboot, or plug in a wall adapter)
* Sound Recorder shortcut missing, this looks like a bug in the OTA not the port a workaround
What to do if it bootloops
Before posting that the rom will not boot; please verify the following:
1) Check that if you don't have the newest radio SPLs *OR* don't have a 32B phone; that you install the correct kernel as mentioned in step 4b/4c in the installation instructions
2) Please use Super Wipe immediately before installing (ie. flash super wipe; restart back to recovery; then install the rom)
3) If you did not install it; install partsB; this will fix some date related bootloops that happens after flashing some of the radios. (after you can login and set the date correctly feel free to re-install without parts if you really don't want it)
4) If your phone is still bootlooping; after a clean install make sure you run 'adb logcat > logcat.txt' on your computer just after rebooting into the rom. Then paste the logcat contents into pastebin copying the link to this thread.
This may sound overkill but its the easiest way to make sure its not your error during install.
Addons
A|| Kernels:
The set of kernels used with this rom can be found: http://goo.gl/qFJO
> MT3G 1.2 (fender users) please use the EBI0 kernel
> 32A magic users (and rogers dreams who have not updated to a 2708 radio) please use the EBI1 port
> Dream/Sapphire users with older EBI0 radios may also use the EBI0 kernel with this rom.
B|| Parts Add On:
MT3G-test3-partsB_S.zip
MD5: 58b80345db33c95a92f9be77ee67cc43 (update 12/01/2010)
What is it you ask.. It adds support for many things on top of the base rom
(note if you are upgrading from the original Test3-parts this is a no-wipe update)
1) Add support for init.d scripts
2) Add support for 'adb remount'
3) Add support for live wallpapers (apk kanged from CM nightly 238, and odex by myself)
4) Add busybox in a squashfs (binaries kanged form CM nightly 238; and repacked since I didn't want all of them) Note test3-partsB restores the toolbox netstat link to correctly display netstat information again.
5) Add LWP fix (fixes various 3D) via init.rc permissions (based on firerats work) updated in test3-partsB to fix slow performance in many games.
6) Added fix_permissions script (this one kanged from biffmod 2.1)
7) Load ipv6 on boot
8) apn list from CM238 nightly (new for test3)
9) flash_image from CM238 nightly (new for test3)
10) date verification; if year is < 2010 set the date to a more recent date (prevents initial boot boot loops for some users) added in test3-partsB
11) And Last but not least:
Added "Froyo Parts" apk custom menu interface to (this is my work k, thanks.. but certainty has ideas from pre-eclair apps2sd and firerats scripts):
internal -> /sd-ext
a. dex2sd (/data/dalvik-cache)
b. data2sd (/data/data)
c. apps2sd (/data/app & /data/app-private)
d. Keep Home in Ram (thanks to raven_raven's idea) [new test3]
e. Compcache 18MB (based of CM's script) [new test3]
f. Restrict /dev/hw3dc most games run better with this disabled; however some work better with it enabled (no reboot required) added in test3-partsB
Check the one or more to gain additional space; allow the app root permissions and reboot; the files will be moved accordingly.
All options only apply on next reboot, so if you make a mistake just revert

E|| Lang Packs:
Non-supported language starter packs

These are for test3 only and provide the options to add [fr,pl,de] or [ja,zh] or [it,ru,nb] or [cs,ko,tr] to the existing en,es rom.
F|| Disable Menu Unlock:
No this is not a bug fix; the Rom has a feature coded in to allow the menu key to unlock the screen as could be done on the phone before the update.
However for those that don't like this feature here is a hacked version of the framework to disable the menu unlock, and enable the "H" notification.

FAQ:
* Installing Titanium + Root Fails: You require BusyBox for Titanium to work; this can be installed via You can either install the parts package or install via titanium its self
* I need ipv6 loaded on boot to run goggles or other app: This is included in the parts package; if you wish not to use the parts package see this trick
* adb remount doesn't work and this rom doesn't have root.. yes 'adb remount' fails because this is a stock rom.. however NO just because that fails doesn't mean there is no root. see this post in short modify /system in recovery its safer than adb remount anyway. Also ADB remount has been added to the parts package
* I want to revert from the DroidX keyboard to stock: re-flash test-3 followed by parts if you flashed parts. (do not wipe)
(In short if you are having issues with advanced features try out the parts package )
Note:
This is only a quick hack of the official MT3G rom; please don't expect me to make major changes to it (If I'm doing that I'll build from ASOP source)
(Changes: version 2 fixes bluetooth and the keyboard + audio levels for dream + removes OTA key so it won't ask for any future updates)
(Changes: Market-fix; applies the updated files from the OTA fix; in addition to allowing you to signon [or skip signon] without a simcard)
(Changes: Test-3 parts improvements + security update included)
thanks for this fast port. i will give feedback =)
EDIT: wo mtd its working smooth. just one faves fc and otherwise no issues. maybe you could say that gapps are included and working ^^
Currently flashing too, many thanks! Was gonna have an early night, cant see that happening now!
Update: Flash went well, booted up nice and quick. Upon setup screen I left it sit for a few mins after the screen turned off. I then proceded to set up passed the initial screens but it failed to connect and stated "you dont have a network connection". It found my router fine, carried on with the set up and synced. So for me so far I have no mobile data connection. Overall it seems nippy and responsive, will keep testing it out...
What did you do!?!?!?!? this is perfect!!!!
Browser, Gallery, Search, Calculator, Phone, Messages, etc ALL OPEN AT THE SAME TIME, no swap, no compcache (i think, free/busybox is broken) SUPERFAST FROYO
Thanks man.
Quick question... is this insane speed due to that i haven't logged in to google yet? or is it due to your awesome kernel? or neither? What's different between the EXACT kernel used in here and the pershoot ones?
Thanks.
James Carr
I desperately want to flash this, but I'm slightly nervous because my MyTouch3G (or HT-03A, in my case) was bought in Japan and subsequently unlocked for use in another country. I see that SU was implemented, so I'm not worried about losing root. Basically, besides the normal risks of flashing custom roms, is this going to create a danger zone for me?
Update: gave it a shot. Installs and boots like a race horse, but sadly it's not a phone. I keep getting the phone itself FCing (com.android.phone) and thus it kind of loses it's functionality. Going to give it another wipe and flash, see if that helps.
Second edit: no love. I know this is going to be huge, and I already can feel/see the amazing speeds present here. BUt if I can't make phone calls, it really can't help me right now. Good luck man, I'll be rooting for you!

I kept it stock; stock has no busybox but you can push it from somewhere else if you wish
The compcache module is included if desired; also setcpu will allow upto a 595oc with this kernel; (a safe 576 max by default)
Very little injected my kernel+modules; and su/superuser.apk from a cm6 build so you keep root.. and copied init.sapphire.rc to init.trout.rc (removed the radio+recovery components of course since I assume you wish to keep the custom recovery)
Without bluetooth this is like a one engine jet plane .
No PAN , no can.
i have a funny feeling t-mobile, google and htc are dicking us around, yawn.

This is absolutely amazing, the speed is as fast as donut, unbelievable!! What is needed to get root access? Im in no position to be ale to help unfortunately as I lack the tech-knowledge! Also any ideas on the bluetooth issue?
May many many thanks!!!
How does this compare to Biffmod for you? I remember the original stock Donut was typically faster than AOSP based Donut roms, does it apply to this case?
Downloaded and flashing right now...

For me my friend, this is probably the best rom ever! My reasons, theres been no lag, installation was smooth and fast, not a single force close. Bluetooth and mobile data isnt working for me (is it because I am in the UK, perhaps I just need to sort out my APN.....) nor is there root yet but theyll come in time. Ive installed LauncherPro and it runs smooth as anything, I am VERY VERY pleased that I have a super fast Froyo on my G1, I am never going back!!!
PS: I personally experienced random reboots on Biffmod and other Froyo roms, none on this rom so far!

Um.. root is working for me.. I added that to the zip (if you are in adb you will need to run 'su' then accept it on the phone.. so make sure the phone is unlocked the first time)
Sorry to be stupid, will this work with Magic 32B version? I dont care for Bluetooth at all, I care for wifi, 3g and gps.
Heading home right now to go and flash this on my G1.

No new spl/radio, actually it will probably fail with the new radio.

Sorry yes my fault there. The problem I faced was I tried Titanium Backup but it complained of not having root and/or BusyBox. I went in to Terminal, typed SU, allowed it, downloaded BusyBox through Titanium and all is well!
Your. Are. A. Genius!!
PS: Keys arent mapped correctly e.g. the 'M' key which should give me a '>' gives me a '!'
