Howto create Splash flash files - Dash 3G, Snap ROM Development

Here are some instructions to create the splash:
You have to use a 320x240 BMP and Pof’s nbimg with this command:
for Dash 3G
nbimg -p 108512 -t 255 -w 320 -h 240 -F splash.bmp -T 0x600 –S 64 -D MAPL*****
for Ozone:
nbimg -p 108512 -t 255 -w 320 -h 240 -F splash.bmp -T 0x600 –S 64 -D CEDA*****
Thanks oOkBa for checking this out

Here is one I created for the Ozone.

This is good info. Once the splash file is created, how do we flash it?

What he said...

This is all fine and dandy, but on the Ozone I can't find the OEM .nb files.
I found 2 .nb0 files in the \Windows folder.
I copied them to computer, renamed them and ran the utility.
Neither are te HTC splash screen.

To update the splash, your device needs to be unlocked by using jockyw's hardspl for your device.
Next download Ozone-splash.zip from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4381312&postcount=24
Replace the splash.nbh file extracted from the zip with your custom image, then run ROMUpdateUtility.exe from the same directory as your updated splash.nbh to flash at your own rick of course
I did this on my Ozone with out any problems. Can not confirm this will work on other devices.

Yea unfortunately it does. Make sure you back up all of your info so you don't lose your contacts and ActiveSync it.

not sure where but i did come across it many times.
Just instal Astro onto your device, and browse the root of the device and you will come across a BootAnimation.zip. Inside contains the png's for the animation.
the boot logo (non animated) is stored on splash1.
Here it is:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The animation is stored in /system/media/bootanimation.zip. Its a series of images in a zip file.
You can get it by using the command:
Code:
adb pull /system/media/bootanimation.zip C:/bootanimation.zip
system\media\bootanimation.zip
do a adb pull /system/media/bootanimation.zip xxx.zip and unzip.
You'll see the 2 sets of PNGs.

What are the permissions for bootanimation.zip if they were left open to non root then this may-b a way to get root with unlocking the bootloader. This would be the same approach that was used to root the behold 2 where the "try3" file was renamed to play_logo . play_logo then was used to root and after root was opened it would make play_logo_real play which was the boot animation. I may be wrong but couldnt this be a possibility. Thanks.
how is it possible to unlock splash1 and safe the old picture
and then flash a new one
Made an extremely simple quick bacon boot-"animation". Just a static bacon image, but looks kinda cool...
http://karlerik.mine.nu:88/android/baconboot.zip
Might try to add some animation later...

Looks good; did you simply change the BMP's to the IMG extension or did you actually have to format it?
no, the images are formatted with nbimg already.
nice job m8 !
I was asking to find out the steps to make them....but NBimg looks like the winner. Thanks!

[Q] Messages contact picture bug

Just came over from the MT4G today, and got right to debloating this bad boy. I went into recovery to wipe my cache and fix permissions (to ensure things worked smoothly) but I had been on CM7 for so long that I had forgotten that Sense has a bug where you lose your contact pictures in the Messages app when you fix the permissions. I tried this script that would fix the problem in Sense 3.0 and 3.5, but had no luck:
chmod 666 /data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/files/*
Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

The location looks fine, yet the privileges for me on those files are rwxrw-r-- .
I am not sure if that resembles a chmod 666. Also, the folder .../files itself is rwxrwx--x for me.
Maybe doublecheck with that, I am not near a proper linux system right now, so I cannot verify if the chmod numericals you used reflect the privs the dir listing gives me.

I have no idea what that means. This was just a command I got from TDJ back then to enter into Terminal Emulator to fix the problem. I tried it here but it didn't work.

666 is RW for Owner, Group and World (rw-rw-rw-).
764 is RWX for O, RW for G and R for W (rwxrw-r--).
771 is rwxrwx--x

Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
Flash the custom splash screen

Can you please post a stock splash screen as I have to return my M8 for warranty repair? TIA
I don't have the stock splash, but this one should be close enough.
are there any special instructions for MAKING a splash screen, i edited a 1080x1920 img with my name on it, is there any format i need to convert the image to, or just renaming it would do it?
ive looked all over the forums for how to do this for the m8 and nobody seems to give instructions on how to make a splash screen for it, they only provide their own splash.

The image needs to be in rgb565 format. Then you can replace the splash1.nb0 in a zip with the image you made.

I created one with the m7 splash creator, then opened your zip, deleted yours, added mine, renamed it splash1.nb0, and flashed it with your instructions, worked out great. Thanks a bunch.
