Use Total Commander instead of the built in file explorer.

How do I delete files in windows folder?

I want to replace some of the .png files in the windows folder. I get a message that I don't have permission. I want to replace some icons.
Try to rename them and after delete. Sometimes works like this.
I don't have the option to rename. On the device (sprint touch) the delete and rename are greyed out. Using active sync, I don't have the option to rename. I want to replace the HH-FW_iconweather.png file to start with.
Thanks.
Use total commander or resco file explorer, these progs usually allow this operation
wow, total commander is a good app, I will keep it on the device. But, neither of the programs will let me delete the file. In resco, I can't see the .png files.
I found another thread of what I want to do:

where can i get - Resco File Explorer
Freeware CAB
If it is a ROM file you can't rename or erase it while being in windows. With Total Commander or Resco File Explorer you have the option to show only files that are not stored in ROM.
I suppose the files you are talking about are ROM files from a cooked ROM.
And how to...

Hello,
I have similar problem - I try to copy some 'mui' files from ROM to my SD card, but I get 'acces denied' during copying (in RescoExplorer, TotalComander too). Is there any possibility to copy files with 'ROM' files attribute set to my folder? Please help

Total Commander "cannot overwrite File"

Hi All,
i think this is a real Noob-Question, but i dont know how to solve my problem.
Everybody says "Use Total Commander to overwirte Files, that can not be overwritten with -normal- File Explorers".
But also Total Commander says "Can not overwrite File". It's a File in my Windows Dir used by the Phone. There are 4 Files, i want to overwrite but can not be overwritten.
What do i have to do???
Thanks
You have to make sure the file you want to overwrite is not currently running. Do a soft reset prior to transferring the file using Total Commander (on your PPC). If it still does not work, use a Task Manager to show all the files running and turn off the file you want to overwrite prior to using Total Commander (PPC).

The built-in file manager doesn't trust us
Use something like Resco Explorer or Total Commander and you'll be able to overwrite most files in the windows folder.

Try Backing up all SMS with any sms backup software, and then check its backup..
Not sure about where it is stored in ROM
/data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/mmssms.db
Any particular way to access it?
Most my tools are showing the data folder as empty?

You need to use a root file manager such as Root Explorer or Super Manager. I've never tried looking inside the SMS file but presume the database is stored in SQLite3 format.
When you got the file you can read it with this program:

Why some android devices thinks that file with APK extension is a directory and others don't?

I have a private APK file hosted on some webserver, but that webserver downloads this as a zip file (it has to do sth with headers). I can just rename the file to use .apk extension and can install it with my Xiaomi, but the same method won't work with device like Lenovo Tab M10 HD (both phones running Android 10).
I have tried two file managers, one is top-downloaded and second one is a Total Commander
I am confused, looking for some ideas

Try extracting the zip, does it have the apk inside the zip?

No. I will check if I can modify return headers of web servers so it won't think its a zip, but damn right APK
Maybe there is some filesystem indexing issue

Using Total Commander, pack the apk file with the password (in TC check the Encrypted box) and upload it to the server.
