The perfect keyboard for the XDA II (and I) ?

There has been a lot of interest in a proper, external, keyboard for the XDA.
After reading a lot of reviews and testing what I could get my hands on, I have concluded that the ThinkOutside Stowaway Wireless Keyboard is probably the best around.
This keyboard is mainly sold in the USA, but an alternative exists; the Palm Wireless Keyboard.
I have created a small review including large pictures on my website:

Nice review, Michael!

Thanks.
Several of my work mates have tried the keyboard and appear very impressed by the quality - and the power of the XDA II + Keyboard.

Michael
nice review, you seem to be really happy with that keyboard,
But..., have you tried the official XDA II keyboard?, it locks in the open position so can be used on your lap, and doesnt need any batteries to use it,
I am going to order hte official keyboard i think and see how i go with it
I believe I have. I used to own an Ipaq 5450 with the HP Foldable keyboard. From what I can see at the pictures I found, it might very well be the same keyboard.
The HP is sort of pulled apart then pushed together again to assemble and lock it.
If this is the same keyboard, I was not happy and found I did not use it. The main reason was that they keys was not quite large enough and had the right feed-back for touch typing. Also, very annoyingly, the space bar needed a very hard push in the right hand side. This often caused me to miss a space.
Finally, there was no mapping to those extra 3 letters we have, meaning I had to get the stylus out each time I had to use one of those letters.
On the plus side, I could charge my Ipaq when using it, but only after having the bottom connector replaced.
The price was also much higher, almost 100 GBP, the Palm Wireless Keyboard that I find better is only around 35 GBP.
Battery drain is minimal btw.

Do One need SD or CF Bluetooth card ?
Do I need to buy an SD or CF Bluetooth card to use my QTEK 20202 with the Stowaway Bluetooth Portable Keyboard, anyone know?
Regards, Johnny
Saw this a few days ago, and it got me salivating, although I can't really justify getting one; I don't spend that much time typing on my Imate.

It projects (yes projects) a keyboard onto a flat surface in front of it, then detects which key you press on the projection by means of a second ir beam. And it's about the size of a cigarette lighter.
Feedback on the site says it works with the XDA II.
I'm sure I read about this idea years ago in a sci-fi novel. It's nice to see things like that come true. Maybe I will get one. Hmmmmm......

Does the palm keyboard work with XDA2?
That or similar laser projected keyboard was on Gadgets Gadgets Gadgets on TV the other night and they demonstrated it using an XDAII.
It looked like it worked very well But you have to have a flat surface. Also typing on a flat surface would feal strange to me i think.

HTC Hermes / Qtek 9600 pre-order on Epansys

Don't know if it's been spotted before, but expansys is accepting pre-orders for HTC Hermes / Qtek 9600:

No price yet, but a nice comment:
"Even give the presentation from our device (separate cable and projector required)."
Cheers,
Hal
Qtek 9600 vs Hermes case design (Expansys)
I saw that a short while ago, but I notice that the case design and keyboard are different from the other pictures floating around. Expansys' picture shows individual keys instead of a Universal-like keyboard that is appearing on some of the other pictures on the net.
Is Expansys just using an early production shot, or will the i-mate/qtek/htc/xda/etcetera all be significantly different from each other in terms of case design and keyboard? From what I can tell, the Wizard/9100/kjam are identical except for really minor cosmetic differences.

any ideas on the price of this one??

Upgrade to Polaris (O2 Orbit 2)?

I will be able to upgrade my handset in the next couple of weeks and am thinking between the O2 Stellar (Kaiser) and the Orbit 2 (Polaris). I was hoping to get some feedback to those who have the Polaris.
What do you like/dislike about the Polaris?
Have you tried the Kaiser? and if so how would you compare it to the Polaris?
And one basic question, can you use a stylus with the Polaris?
Thanks
Allan
I think kaiser & polaris are more less the same, except kaiser has hardkbd. In my case i choose Polaris(i have Universal w/ hardKB - i used it maybe 20x thru 2.5 years) - but its solely on Your habits.
Why not 2 use stylus? On Polaris
I heard that the Polaris doesnt have a pressure-sensitive screen and so you must use your finger - I don't think this is the case but I was asking to check...
Have you noticed any oddities with the new interface? Is it good to use or does it get in the way at times?
Thanks
Polaris has a transflective (i.e. daylight readable) screen, whereas on the Kaiser you can't see anything is direct sunlight. Important consideration if you use your device for sat nav as well.
And the Polaris comes with 2 stylus -__-
It is a "TouchFlo" screen which means you can use fingers AS WELL AS stylus.
I upgraded to the Polaris from a Hermes (predecessor of the Kaiser), and I am really surprised at how much difference the few millimeters in thickness makes!
In short, I love my Polaris.
Yes, I just checked that out - I dont know if I will use the stylus but it is useful that it comes with it. How do people find using the onscreen keyboard? I used to have a universal so was spoield with the large keyboard...
PCM Keyboard (free) is great, very finger friendly.
Alternatively, the Polaris comes with the two Touch style on-screen keyboards pre-installed.
My wife has just had an Orbit2 by O2 and compared to my Orbit (1) it is stunning. I've tweaked it with HTC homescreen and some other bits to make it a bit more usable. External card port so no more battery out to fit a new card (supplied with 1Gb) .The cube is super fast and super smooth and comes with CoPilot 7 pre loaded. Been trying to persuade her to swap with me but she's not playing.
She wasn't sure about having it as she thought it may be too complex for her needs but after the 1st hour she was a full convert to XDA. She has now taken to making iPhone users embarrassed to admit they bought the wrong hardware...hahaha
In short can't wait to upgrade.......Orbit2 for me.
Sounds great - now I hope my O2 store has them in stock!
co pilot live 7 pre installed on xda orbit 2
anyone else having a problem loading co pilot 7 on their O2 xda Orbit 2 mine hangs on the o2 display screen with a completion bar only with two green bars lit and a prompt saying Integrating updates this hangs forever and i ried to leave it overnight but to no evail

Htc's Patented stylus. What happend?

I need a stylus for note taking and there seems to be a big demand
for stylus input on the asian markets. Now with winphone 7 making it's
entrance and capacitive screens becoming more common one would
think we would have heard more about capactive styluses by now.
Has there been any word on the development of Htc's patented stylus?
http://wmpoweruser.com/?p=6842
Im assuming the recently released dagi style stylus isnt the
patented one based on this:
http://wmpoweruser.com/?p=12034
http://wmpoweruser.com/?p=10707
Have I missed any news on this? Do you miss or need a stylus?
When do you think we will see this tech in phones?
Give me your thoughts

Thanks, that's the dagi rebranded stylus.
I was wondering if theres been any development on
the patented stylus.

What kind of stylus works on my device?

Hey guys, I've recently bought a 2-in-1 Windows powered tablet from Acer, model SA5-271-34MN-EN (or just SA5-271). It is a Acer Switch Alpha 12, with i3, 4GB RAM and 256GB SSD.
The one I got does not come with an stylus out of the bxo, but some others does come (I noticed that after watching some unboxing videos).
The thing is that I am trying to figure out which stylus should I buy. I've seen on the official Acer site ( https://us.answers.acer.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/42675 ) that it supports two types of stylus from acer, the "Elan NP.STY1A.005" and the "Elan NP.STY1A.006". Since I could not find those models directly on the internet here in my country (I do not live in US, only found to be imported from New York), I'm open to suggestions in which kind of stylus should I look for. By "kind" I mean, capacitive, resistive and others. Still, if someone could clarify the terms to me, it would be better.
I've looked into some of those chinese sites, but since I do not know which pen should I buy, i'm kind of lost here.
The models I looked are:
"Acepen 703AS Rechargeable Surface Pen Active Stylus" - People says it is only for Microsoft surface. Why?
"UGEE P51 Digital Pen Stylus for Drawing Tablet" - People says it is only for UGEE tablets. Why? Shouldn't it work in other screens?
"Original One Netbook Stylus Pen for One Mix Laptop" - People says it is only for One Mix. Why?
"Teclast TL - T6 / F5 Active Stylus" - Ony for Teclast?
Could you guys clarify if an Active Stylus would work in my notebook? And what is the main difference between Active and Passive, from the point of view of my notebook?
TL;DR: Anyone can take a look on Acer 2-in-1 SA5-271 and see which kind of stylus would work on it?
Thanks for the attention.
