EDIT::: IT WORKS!!! READ MY POST !!!!!
Ok HSDPA IS ENABLED!!!!!
They made me sign a confidentiality agreement so i can't share instructions or files here, but i don't think that stuff would help, just read on you'll understand why... sorry =[.
I paid them $85.00 and they immediately sent me an email with full instructions on it. I had to give them my IMEI number (At the Today Screen Type *#06# and wait a second its a 17-digit Number that pops up They made me give them the FIRST 15 digits)... Im guessing the imei number has something to do with getting the HSDPA to work since the stuff my friend had to enter to enable his was slightly different than the stuff I had to enter, even though we bought our Treo's at the same time, with very similar IMEI numbers...
I am on Cingular with an unlocked Treo 750v bought from Vodafone in England, unlocked by me -- and this works VERY VERY well even over tethering (bluetooth and usb) as for the link, they got too many requests -- so he said they are no longer selling it via the website but will be making an Ebay ONE TIME sale, since once more than a few people get it, it will definetly get leaked on the internet some way or another. They supplied me the correct files for both Mac and Windows to update without me even asking which is pretty nice, since I use both and just happen to have my Dell Laptop in for Servicing...
So, the guy said he would post it here? maybe or somewhere ? when its up on Ebay.
I got bursts of 2.9 MBPS with an average of 1.3 MBPS on the Treo 750 itself and 1.5 MBPS via USB Tethering on average upload speeds seemed capped at like 110 kbit/s - 170 kbit/s with bursts into the 300 kbit/s.
Overall works really well, very fast i think its HSDPA 3.6 but i didn't think Cingular had those capabilities yet, however i tested it on Speakeasy.net Speed test, Bandwidthplace.com Speed test, and Dslreports.com Speedtests all with the SAME EXACT results...
So I guess he'll post it once they are ready to make the sale (he said within like the next 24 hours it will be on Ebay), if he doesn't I'll keep checking ebay and let you guys know once the sale starts.
P.S. i can make some screen shots (via my iSight Web Cam) which will be kinda ****ty but you should be able to see the screen, but only if you guys want to see those let me know i'll post them...

Some UK Site my friend saw said "We can unlock the power of HSDPA (1.8 and 3.6) on your Treo 750v Today! It takes a Download and a couple of System Edits and your IMEI number to FULLY ENABLE HSDPA" (not verbatim my friend was reading it to me over the phone so i just improvised a bit) But it also goes to say it works on ANY UMTS network with HSDPA enabled and works on ANY Treo 750 Locked to Vodafone or NOT.
They want 45 British Pounds for it, and take credit card (so i am assuming I can't get ****ed, since I could just do a charge back if it doesn't work) so thats about $85-$90 US Dollars, you guys think it worth it or have any of you done it? I'll post the url once i talk to my friend again should be within the next couple of hours...

Please post the pictures with the speed test readings!!!!!

These speedtests were obviously some Cache malfunction using bandwidthplace.com sorry guys! the Ones above are from dslreports.com and legitimate.

Is it just me or does this seem too good to be true?

While in theory the HSDPA hardware and software are built in the 750 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=281593) I find it hard to beleive that it can be enabled that easy short of a new ROM. 99.9% of cingular network will give you max 1.2 Mbps. How did you get 2.6????Which area of the US did you do your test ?

I love the fact that they're both blurry pics, so you can't even see if it's a U or not, lol.

I was just trying to be a nice guy by taking those pictures, and passing alaong information you guys might want... i honestly couldn't care less if you believe me or not, last time i go out of my way to try to inform people of something I would want to know about...Good luck figuring this out on your own

This thread needs to go the way of the dodo, and disappear.

The hack probably turns the "U" to a "H"

aside from that, the Treo will indeed support HSDPA, but only up to 1.8Mbps. The hardware HTC chose to use in the Treo 750v is identical to that in the TyTN. The DSPchip is limited to 1.8mbps by design and will realistically offer up to 1.5mbps. This has been confirmed to me by the Palm devs with whom I have been working on a few bugs I encountered

No Thats wrong, it actuallly increases thespeeds you'll see once other people start telling you guys about it....

Palm Treo uses Qualcomm chipset 6275 whith max bitrate of 1.8 Mbps
The 6280 chipset will go to 3.6 Mbps but only two data cards are supporting it for now Sierra 875 and Option.
Cingular network supports curently 1.2 Mbps and few markets i.e, Dallas can go to 1.8Mbps. 3.6 requires major backhaul upgrade which is not curently on the roadmap. Few cells were enabled for 3.6 for testing purpose

well the hardware speaks for itself, unless your guy has found a way to double up the speed of a 1.8mbps chipset with software....

I hope so. speed is nice. I am all for enabling HSDPA on my 750.

@drakmog: Can you do another HSDPA test but instead of using bandwidthplace.com use the test from DSLreports?
http://www.dslreports.com/mspeed
In my TyTN results vary a lot from one speed test to the other, dslreports seems to give more realistic results to me.

Help - my Atom doesn't work with my WiFi!

My brand new Atom shows that it's connected to my WiFi AP (Linksys), but I'm getting nowhere on the network! I can't ping anything internally and I can't ping the Atom from other computers, I can't get on the Internet, and I can't open network drives. I'm using a static IP at 192.168.0.99 for the Atom, and I have checked again and again that I have the correct setup for that, with DNS (192.168.0.1), Gateway (192.168.0.1) and subnet (255.255.255.0). Can somebody please tell me what to do to get this thing connected?! I use my PPC's on the WiFi around 80 % of the time, so it's pretty important to me!
Edit: It seems I'm able to connect to a D-Link AP in the neighbour's house, but that doesn't help much... Can this be a Linksys problem?
Solved! Upgrading my Linksys to the latest firmware (that wasn't on any other sites than the german - how typical of Linksys!) fixed it. Phew...
Hi there
Where did you get your from XDA ATOM from?
How do you find it? Is it worth the money?
Regards
Naz
eBay, it was sendt from HongKong on Thursday last week and arrived today. So far it's worth twice the money. It does all my Blue Angel did and is fantastically small! I need a lot of the functions in my work (I run my own one man translation business) and have been annoyed with the size of other PDA phones. Oh, not to mention the FM radio, one of my main reasons to upgrade - I listen a lot to the radio. The only thing against is that it didn't come with any form for case or even cradle. But of course I can get those as well from eBay!
Can I ask if someone nice would be prepared to export the registry from the Atom and PM/email it over to me? I'm working on some new stuff and it'll come in very handy. A live rom dump would be even nicer if you've got a few minutes to spare. PM me if you're willing and able, so to speak
Thanks muchly.
V
I would be willing, but not able, at least not the first few days. Heck, I don't even know how to do it...
I can talk you through both processes if you're interested.
A ROM dump will take around 10 mins, a registry export maybe 1 or two. Both would be lovely. Either/or would be appreciated!
V
vijay555 why don't you list the procedure and I will try to do it tonight. I am not a tech expert so it would be good if you kept the procedure simple.

Prepare for disappointment... Again

Sorry for this but it totally torn my heart apart to see a 5 times less expensive phone with such a performance when it comes to gps..
Sorry for the bad quality of the image and the way is turned.i was in the car on a bumpy road.
Both devices were started in the same time and not just htc locked immediately but .. Just check the pic and the accuracy of the GPS

i was at the verizon store as im contemplating jumping ship for the fascinate, or maybe waiting for the future 4g phones. i have cognition 2.3b1 and an overclock kernel with stock modem(my area has no 3g so i dont need hsupa) i compared my phone to 3 diferent fascinates and a droid x a droid 2 and droid incredible. my gps was comparble to the motorola phones, the fascinate was ****!. win for froyo, not for samsung.
the driod incredible mopped the floor with everything else but that may have been a fluke. posibly saved in memory, the stores roof did a good job of blocking gps because even the motorolas never got a fix better than 30 meters. my phone eventually got 10 meters but quickly lost it. the driod increadible had a lock at 7 meters before i even got maps open on my phone! if that wasn't luck i must say im impressed! still im happy with my current gps quality. im not envious of the incredible as smooth as the os is and as good as the gps appears to be the snapdragon cant process 3d to save it's life.

GPS issues aside..you couldn't pay me enough money to jump back to Verizon or Sprint. With out a doubt the worst c/s,store techs and management I have ever had to deal with in my life at both companies. Also..I compared a brand new Droid X to my Captivate 2 nights ago at work..Actually..there was no comparison..the signal quality, speed of browsing..both through the phone and on the Internet..the Cappy won hands down..and this really really irked the Droid owner.Hell she even ask me to load the Fancy Widget weather for her because she hated the lame stock one on her phone..and wanted hers to look like mine. The quality of the Captivates screen was plainly evident too...She just couldn't get over how smooth and crystal clear the movies I had loaded played and looked...
So..Good luck if you decide to do this..but personally..I would at least wait and see if the 2.2 update gets delivered as stated and fixes the gps issue for you.The grass may look greener on the other side of the fence..but may not be taste any better...

now im off topic but the thing is that att corperate is holding them back in my area, we have been waiting for 3g for years they have teased us about it's coming in 2months since i got my iphone or even prior to. they installed the updates in september and the store reps said 29september was the day. now they say they dont know when. the network was tested in september causing no internet, spotty texting and dropped calls for 3 weeks then about 12 hours of 3g then back to the old system.
the verizon rates look identical to mt att plan, they have unlimited data again, the calls dont drop when the phones have good service like my bad network policies in this area do to lack of bandwidth and they have vetrans discounts. att has active duty discounts but not vetrans, although i did get them to apply a discount do to there own ignorance but if it they catch it i can loose it.
ill certainly wait for froyo on the facsinate before i choose and read there forums ect. and i may wait for a 4g phone. att has zero press on hspa+ that i can find and we cant even get a hsupa enabled phone. att can call and surf the web at the same time and as far as i know verizon cant (i actually do that quite often), hopefully 4g will allow that(a question i forgot to ask), the store rep say 4g will be in my are in the spring(they are usually misinformed so ill see)
roll over minutes are a plus on att.
obviously i havent made a decision, i was just comenting on my gps performance being on par with motorola with an unofficial froyo build.
Stupid question perhaps since I'm new to Android but what app was used in the original post to test the GPS?

GPS Test, it's on the market.
I've had my captivate for about six or seven weekd now and could not get a lock at all when it was stock for the first hour or two that i had it. I started flashing roms and have tried a bunch including most Cog roms and several with the setiron kernel. since going to the perception build 3 and now 4, i lock in a matter of seconds and stay locked. this thing is fantastic now. Before this I was just using my old Nokia E71 for navigation. Not any more. My Captivate is great now.
My captivate looks like the first phone all the time. Stock. Exchange your phone if GPS is a problem.
Bob
Here's my Captivate. I took this with ShootMe. I don't use GPS too much so I'm no expert. However, it would seem this is pretty good. Can someone interpret this for me if I off base.

i have A htc aria...The gps is spot on...i can actually tell what room of a house i am in...its that accurate....my captivate rarely gets in the neighborhood let alone my house. I love the phone but using gps is one of the things i use my phone for alot. I'm looking to go from att to tmobile soon so the phone will probably go.
Update. I ran gps test...it says accurate to 32 ft. I closed it and opened google maps....its off by at least 1 mile!
Could there be a class action lawsuit for this? Considering its an advertised feature or a massive recall? Or is the GPS not that important?

[ROM] Hyundai A7 - first custom rom! POST#6

ok, so i just got this in the mail today (110 bucks on ebay) and i like and i dont like.
i have a rooted nextbook premium 7 (thanks dochoppy!) and i love the np7 for the price. someone steered me toward the A7 and i was feeling a bit rich that night so i bought it. the specs are amazing! i particularly like the front facing camera so this can be used for skype and the speed should be awesome as well, but im not feeling it.
if there is anyone who has this tablet post here so we can encourage some development, im slowly starting to learn some myself but i am in need of lots of help! come on guys lets root this puppy and see what its made of!
wow posted this three weeks ago and no comment?
i guess no one on xda has one of these
well ive been busy with some other projects and just now had some more time to play with this new android toy.
turns out it IS rooted right out of the box, strange but awesome no work needed here!
had lots of issues trying to install the market initially tried lots of .apks and only a few would download when i would open the market it would just force close or would time out.
when i installed any ics gmail i would get the constant fc "android.core...." forget the rest but i remember having this issue on a phone a while back when i removed somethings necessary for android to run properly.
did some research found the manufactures website (if you go here be sure to have google translate ready )
found others having similar problems. turns out just downgrading the firmware fixes much of these issues. go back to 4.0.3 (20120203) and market (play) works flawless!!!!
just needed to download the correct contacts.apk to fix the "android.core..."
now i need to change the buildprop to allow more apps from the market.
also need to find some way to fix this kernel (more like find someone to do it for me ) when i open set cpu all is grand - as soon as i attempt to overclock bam! screen black and everything frozen - hard reset fixes this
root explorer is not finding my sdcard (thinks the nandflash is sd) so im using the file explorer that came with it. not sure if it has r/w option but i think if i need some minor adjustments root explorer can work and rom toolbox appears ok.
anyhow just wanted to post some updates and as soon as i get some more time i will add more detail here. oh and post links if needed too!
still no one....
well im starting to like this tablet more and more, and ics!
i thought i bricked it earlier when i was trying to overclock again (need a new kernel!)
i flashed the 20120203 firmware update again and nothing! tried three or four times and i kept getting stuck at the initial boot/splash screen!
went to the manufactures website and this time there was a new update, and this one had the market preinstalled!
http://www.hyundai-digital.cn/download/?lis=2&cl=2&cid=7
its the 20120329 dated but the build is 20120314 --- so there must be a few weeks of testing before they release to the public, a good thing i assume.
anyway this version seems much better but there still NEEDS to be a custom rom for this tablet! there is so much potential here but linpack only clocks at like 15.5 mflops, neocore scores 63.2 fps (looks good though!) antutu gets 3074
being that this seems hard to brick im going to attempt some tweaks, not a true custom rom but hopefully something better than stock.
if anyone has one of these and has issues with flashing the newest firmware just ask and ill be glad to help!
Picked one up as well. I am told by finless that I should follow the development of the Polaroid tabs (same SoC). Tabletrepublic and Flashmyandroid have dedicated forums with good info for the Hyundai A7. I'm downloading the 314 build right now....
I just received my HDMI adapter yesterday. Watched a Blu-Ray ripped file from the A7 on my 52". WOW!
Update: New ROM fixed errors, but the camera still won't work with supplied software (so no Skype). Netflix plays longer but still eventually freezes (about 10 min).
Update: Re-formatted and re-flashed. Camera works reliably! Skype video works!
ok here is the first custom rom for the hyundai a7! let me just say it isnt too much just the latest firmware minus all the chinese stuff. has full market, superuser and busybox are installed and working and full gapps applied and working strong! ive tested it for about a day now and havent found any flaws but would like a few more to try it.
i take no credit here!!!! this is made by steev a developer over @ flashmyandroid, this is based off his elvish rom for allwinner tablets. so give him a hand!
this is the first step into making your a7 the best tablet for the price around! so test this rom out and see how it works, let me know if there are any improvements/changes you want to see here! here ya go!

hi there . i should be getting my Hyundai A7 Tablet in a day or so. and haven’t found much info out there other then the spec.
just joined this site as I’m getting the feeling that it would be able to do what i want out the box.
in the past i have put a dual boot system on my old iriver and also messed about with a psp to play Amiga games .. but from looking around on this web page, everything seems t be way over my head . and haven’t found the link for "Hyundai A7 for dummies" any were .
basically i love my htc desire, and would like the tablet to do much of the same.
browse the net, down load programs off the Google site, and properly will end up doing minor editing on spread sheets and also downloading bit torrents.
and if posoble run some old amiga games
I’m guessing i need to do an update or something to get it to be able to access the Google downloads.
but do i need anything else .
i know that I’m properly way way behind on my tec or playing with operating systems . and properly will never understand all of what opening up an operating system can do,
but do i need to ?
and if so .. where should i start?
as i say .. struggling to find a basic / dummy guide to all this
any help would be most welcome
When you get your a7 play with it for a day and then come back if you decide you want more. I can post details on how to flash the only custom rom for these beast so far. Trutfully as improved it is over the stock os we need a lot more work to make this little tablet fly. If you need help ill post the links and instructions when I'm @ a computer

http://www.mediafire.com/?idmeiyvr8xbt6rd
then get custom rom here:
http://minus.com/mMQ8obWfa/1f
now make sure you are powered down on the tablet (fully) and not plugged into computer
open live suit (on a pc there may be a mac version havent looked into it)
sometimes a "backup warning" window open , hit no and then move on
next hit the square button in the left corner (looks like cardboard box)
from here direct the file to you custom rom (elvish)
now plug in your a7 to computer, if it automatically powers on shut it back down
take a small pin or whathaveyou to the little hole to the left of hdmi port this is the "update" button
hold down the "update" button as you power on and you will see a window pop up on your computer
click yes to reformat (i always do but you could hit no and it will still update without reformatting)
wait a short time (~2min) untill the progress bar finishes.
tablet will auto reboot when done
yeah! new firmware! your done!
EDIT: here is a video i found for flashing a polaroid tablet with livesuit:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oL5KnVH6inQ&feature=youtu.be
similar device so i thought it could be helpful to some
bigger battery?
so for i fun i decided to open this tablet up here are a few pics of the inside

turns out only one speaker granted it only looked like two from the outside but i did assume there was stereo
with help from finlessbob i was able to determine this is a lithium-polymer battery (lipo)
the dimensions of the current battery are width:2.625" , length:3.2" , height:.2"
it is two batteries strung together so a third battery inline would be optimal. slice this in half and i need:
w-1.3", l-3.2", h-.2"
this approximate of course and could probably get away with large still.
im going to check online and local hobby/battery shops and see if i can find something for under $30
if anyone has something they think might work let me know and ill take a look
just received my Hyundai A7 about 2 weeks ago - I too am more and more impressed with this tablet every time I use it (using Evish ROM). It simply can't be beat for $100 - ICS runs great on it...
My son has since taken owenership of it, but I was thinking of geting another one, just to play with....
If anyone is "on the fence" about whether or not to get one, do it!!
By the way, the plastic film on the front is not meant to be permenant - just a protective sheet. It is a PIA to remove, but I would remove it for sure....
speaker crackle
someone turned me on to a post in german, dont really know who to thank for this
but anyone else her that crack! on the speaker when just navigating?
dont know why i didnt notice this before but directly above the speaker sits the wifi antenna, dumb design that causes interference.
quick fix is to take the speaker and turn it 180 so the wires are facing the other way, then put a small pieces of something in between the speaker and antenna. (they used a utility knife blade) sounds like wifi reception improves too!
anyhow about to try this myself - ill report back with my findings as well as any other tips i find.

NOW I will flash. Thank you!!
Edit: Ad-Hoc working great! Now I can retire my Nextbook.
Hey fellas! Would you happen to know if there is any custom ROM for the A7HD model? I would like to spend the extra $30, to get a Higher res Screen and the other small tweaks

I've ordered the A7HD and might get it by 15th of May. I really am eager to try this tablet as I think that it will be very competitive in the Market. No custom Roms have been released for this one yet but I think developers can tweak in the Elvish changing the display driver and resolution to fit the A7HD
a few people have been asking how to stop the speaker noise (click!) so i posted an explanation and a link a few pages back. but like i promised i finally got around to take a few pictures of the modification
you can see i moved the speaker 180 so the wires are on the left. i then cut a small piece of plastic (seen someone use a utility knife blade so use whatever you think will work) and placed it above the speaker. this will keep the speaker from interfering with the wifi.
also when you have your tablet opened (its easy just pry around the edges) take a look at the connections, these are terribly soldered. especially look at the usb port there have been some people complaining it broke from the board.
mine seems ok but it may be better to add a little solder now before it were to break off completely if yours looks poor
as for the bigger battery, i havent found a good replacement yet (havent looked hard either i mostly use my NP7) but when i do i will update
and does anyone know if i were to replace this camera with a better one (5mp maybe) would i need to change the software too? i assume there may just be a little bit tweaking the code but it would be nice for this camera is so easy to take out and there seem to e many i could attempt to replace it with, well if anyone has an idea on this let me know
A bought two batteries for galaxy note (not original) on ebay. Their capacity is 2600 mAh for one. Waiting for them. I want to connect them parallelly, and get one battery with about 5000 mAh capacity. Everything must fit.
What are the dimensions?

Sick of this!

Just been nosing on the ONE X forum since I'm thinking of jumping ship. They have YET another update? Where is the ONE S update to fix the pretty much crippling signal and jumping 3G HSDP+ issues or the soft reset when browsing the internet?
Sick of this phone and its lack of support from HTC on the MAO and software front...
Im with you !!
I love this phone, I aint gunna swap it, But i do wish HTC would play ball !!
Ive noticed various software bugs / glitches since owning this phone, I just wish they would bring out some updates, Then we can build some new ROMs with it
I contacted HTC yesterday and they said that an update is already coming..
A friend of mine owns an One X and since the 1.29 update he noticed no change so far but worse benchmark scores. We'll see if it has an impact on battery life at least.

Fully agree with you.
Great phone but not that great QA and after-sales support...
I've also been in contact with them about 2 different issues which finally got escalated with a remark from the support: "it will take some time...".
I'm done, i'm ringing three at lunch and asking for a disconnection. I have 2 days left on my cooling off period and i'm far from cooled off. Might not even got for the ONE X if thats having issues as well..
Same here.
Seems to very little interest in this phone at all, nearly every forum regarding just this mobile have hardly any posts............
Shame as it is a great mobile and easily one of the best today.
All HTC's efforts are going towards the X, the S has it's fair share of problems as well (thankfully I don't have them *touch wood*) e.g. wifi and signal issues yet no word at all by HTC on an update fixing this afaik.....
Guess I will be rooting and flashing a custom ROM sooner than I thought, even though I really wasn't wanting to do this for quite a while and let alone even thinking that I would have to do it this soon..........
If HTC don't bother with this mobile at all and only deliver like 1-3 minor updates and don't give us the next big latest android version i.e. jellybean, then they can forget any future purchases of their products by me.
Seriously I am pissed of at the lack of interest from the community. I thought this would be one of the best phones on the market if not the best and would be really popular. And it got sweet reviews from nearly every website
I am totally surprised by the lack of enthusiasm thus far. I don't understand why.
Couldn't agree any more.
And I don't understand it either........

Because a lot of people go along with the logic that having a quad core in their phone means they have a very large penis.
Still early days yet, I'm sure the dev scene will pick up in the not too distant future. Or you could learn yourself and become a dev instead of moaning (justsayin)
Also, I think the S is far less buggy and problematic than the X, hence why its getting more attention, not forgetting it is also their flagship...
Personally I haven't had any of the problems mentioned, apart from the MAO issue, on the two devices I have had.

The signal issue is very strange, if I have internet and can teather my phone it will stay on most of the night surfing using my PC. As soon as I start to try and browse using the phone it cuts out.. The 3G and H indicators are constantly swapping.
I had an HTC Touch Diamond on O2 and that was the worst phone i've ever owned it even cost me a relationship due to it not hanging up when I told it to (thats another story). Was a little apprehensive on getting another HTC but I put my past experiences down to windows mobile. Now i'm not so sure. My girlfriend is always having problems with her HTC Sensation XE as well.

I'm 100% certain that you've had the radio bug at the very least. It affects every single One S out there. It's not a crapshoot -- YOU HAVE IT, 100% guaranteed.
Do me a favor and try to do some Speed Tests. Notice that right in the middle of the test, it suddenly stops, then switches back to 3g, and then back to 4g, and etiher fails the test or ends up with an abysmal speed?

Ok, I will just drop everything in my life and start to learn about coding, the ins and outs of android/sense and try to make a ROM and if it breaks people's one S mobiles then not my fault
No one is moaning, were just saying that we're surprised at how this phone isn't more popular with the developers.............

I don't have it, just done what you said there and didn't have any of those problems. Constant H connection throughout.
Maybe I am effected in the sense, that I could get better speeds or a ping if they release a patch to fix/improve the signal?

This is my first mobile with o2 in a long time, I can't try the SIM card out in any other phones as they are all locked to 3 network, so can't comment on how signal strength and mobile data speeds compare to other devices.

Its crazy sometimes it does exactly as you describe sometimes it gets decent speeds. It always seems to work on my PC when tethered though..?
EDIT...
Just done it, first time worked no problem.. 2nd time to get an average.. No ping no internet

Thanks for your constructive post. If you have no problems then you have nothing to ***** about. If you did would you just leave it?? Doubt it..
I had the Sensation the day it came out and the forums were incredibly slow and no one seemed to have bought the phone for a couple months. I then switched to the amaze and same thing. As we know now those phones have pretty good dev support and users. Things are always slow at the start takes a few months for people to see the phone around and want it. Trust me on this...this phone will not disappoint in the end.
yeah, ^^ hes right... But im so impatient lol (who here isnt?)
I want the best and i want it now lol
But this phone has just become available worlwide,, Most people are tied into contracts, They dont have £500 spare to buy it..
And lets face it, the Sensation, Amaze, GS2 aint that old, and most people probably took out a 2yr contract on them..

[Q] Questions about mobile internet (interesting)

Hello,
My Name's Angelo, I'm new to these forums although I've lurked on them for a long time in the past.
I watched the site's 'noob' video and I am pretty sure my question is unique as I have spent DAYS looking for a solution and so far I haven't found another case of the video.
Firstly, please allow me to start of by saying, I am grateful for any help I receive in this thread and I have utmost respect for those of you that do answer however please don't feel obligated too, I understand that I'm not worth the time of most =). Also my phone is the English edition of America's LG Thrill, I believe it's called P920 or Optimus 3D
So, to give you some perspective, I use an unlimited internet dealie on my phone (from Three UK, all you can eat) and it's been an absolute delight until last week and this I assume is because I had a couple weeks off college so I may have used an excessive amount of data.
Basically, I've always tethered my phone--->laptop to provide a stable connection wherever I happen to be, however last Thursday the speed went to total cr*p. Naturally my first thought was that I have been hit my Three's infamous 'Data Throttle' as it's not hard to believe considering I was constantly streaming netflix, playing WoW and LoL.
This would make a lot of sense as my tethering works like normal every day past 12AM as usual, but that's not what is troubling me.
It's literally the SECOND I tether, any time after 3 pm that my internet speed goes from 3-5 mbps(my standard rate for peak time to 0.4mbps)
I'm not an expert on computers, I'm a computing student but not that in depth with networking however as far as I am aware they wouldn't be able to tell the second I started tethering right?... and if so, why is only my tethering slowed down?
I have even tried using clockworkmod's 'undetectable' tether but speed test still gives me a crappy reading on the PC and yet a flawless one on my phone, curiouser and curiouser.
I worry that tomorrow/friday, whenever they decided to actually remove this throttle (it's meant to last seven days and it's automated from traffic sense) my tethering during peak times will never be the same again :|.
Here are some factors that may have influenced whatever happened;
I recently installed a software update which was really big but didn't really do anything, just added random apps such as Play Music, Play Movies etc... seemed weird that I got such little content for a 300 MB patch.
I used a TON of internet the week leading up to last Thursday which leads me to believe I landed in the top 5% of users and *should* leave me with a 7 day 20kbps speed between 3PM-12AM however it is only effecting my tethering speed.
I've always been to scared to root my device so far because if anything goes wrong (doesn't detect sim with custom stuff added or something) I wouldn't be able to fix it as I have no broadband.
My initial thought was that my cable/connection might be screwed however I'm getting 6mbps as I type this and on top of that; It also does it with portable hotspot tethering.
Sorry this is so long, and heck it might resolve itself by Friday (I really hope) but any advice is much appreciated
