qtek 1020 - Changing my ringtone? - General Topics

Hi,
On my qtek 1020, I had set up a mp3 song as my ringtone, but now I want to change it. When I click on other songs, i do not see the Set as ringtone option. I even deleted the song which was set as the ringone, but it still plays as the ringtone, and on other songs I still dont see a set as ringtone option. Whats the best way to change the ringtone?
Thanks

Go to Start->Settings->Phone to set your ringtone.
The ringtone you set is probably now in windows\rings

Hi,
Thanks for that. I was able to delete that ringtone by going to windows/rings but I still dont see "set as ringtone" options for other Mp3's that I have got. I copied an MP3 song to the windows/rings folder, but still dont see it as an ringtone options..any ideas How I could possibly set this up as a ringtone?
Could this have something to do with the file size?

if it's wm2002 it can only use wav ring tones
if it's wm2003 then it can only use wav and mid and wma ring tones
you can make mp3 to wma using the free program CDEX

If you have installed a media player that has associated itself with .mp3 then you will not be able to select mp3s in the settings. You will need to open the player installed and clear the association in settings. If this does not work search for "mp3 ringtone" and you will find the registry setting that you may need to manually change.

is there a way to;
A) change the actual volume of the alert (I know about turning vol up/down) but what I want here is a louder alert when I recieve a message.
B) can I download new wav files to add to the default ones with myxda2i?
B1) if the above is answered yes, can you advise how I install them please?
Thanks
Pete
I would like to add to this.
I have downloaded .wav files and copied them into the windows directory, but when I go to listen to them in the sounds and notifications section they don't play, this has happened to all .wav files apart from one so far.
Look for the Nokia sms sound file uploaded somewhere in this forum. it works on my imate pocket pc and is loud.

I've also noticed that many wav files are some how encoded in mp3. So they have a file ext of .wav but ppc will only play pure wav files. If you switch the file ext on the wav's that do not play to .mp3 they will sudenly play in windows media player. this will tel you that it is not pure wav encoding.
if you choose properies of the wav file on the pc
it should ms ad pcm as format then it's a pure bred
puls modulated media

MP3's as Ringtones on XDAIIi?

I'd like to use MP3's as ringtones but it seems like the the XDA will only allow .WAV files. I have put the MP3s in the Ringtones folder but the ringtone select option only shows me the .WAVs.
Am I missing something or am I limited to .WAVs only?

O2 XdaIIs - Ringtones

TO assign mp3 to ringtones, a software with a registry modification was suggested. I have tried all this but have not been able to assign mp3's to my ringtones. Any other solutions other than converting to wav or any other format?
Please suggest. will try and give you feedback

In my case, the "add ringtone" program only seems to recognize .WAV files. How can I add a ringtone in .MPA and .WMA format?
Thanks

Set Custom Ringtone????

I want to set a custom ringtone. I have some mp3's on my Tilt. I followed these instructions from my phone's manual....
Set an MP3 song as your ringtone
1. Copy the MP3 music file to the My Documents folder on your phone.
2. Tap Start > Settings > Phone.
3. In the Ring type list, select the MP3 song as your ringtone.
I did exactly that and the ringtones are not in my Ring type list. I went to File Explorer to make sure the mp3 was there and it is.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

OK, any ideas why it's not working?
Have you tried this?....Tap & hold on the song you want as your ringtone, then select Set As Ringtone.

yea, i tried that too. when i did that it said, 'saved as ringtone' but it wasn't in the ringtone list in the phone settings. i have WM 6.1 installed if that helps any. my song is .mp3 format but i heard that .wma, .mp3, .wav. and .midi all work as ringtones. i tried a 30 second song and a 4 minute song and neither worked. does it have to be a certain size?
i figured it out. my mp3 file was 650kb. i cut it down to 378kb and it works. the length is only 16 seconds now which is fine for a ringtone but does 378kb sound right for a 16 second mp3?

[Noob Q] How to set ringtone for SMS/call?

There is a default setting ringtone in my LGO3D. How to change customize that to use my own mp3 as a ringtone? Is it possible to set individual ringtone for each contact?
Thanks.
custom ringtones
I created a directory in mnt / sdcard that I named it audio, then I created ringtones directory in it, I put mp3 files there and then reset the phone, mp3 files appeared in a selection of tones
I manage to make it appear in my ringtone selection by placing the audio files in sdcard/media/ringtones. But now it make the audio not appear in music player. Default music player require it to be placed in sdcard/media/music folder.
Is there a way to make the ringtone files able to be browse and select? Any app recomendation? I tried ringo. But the audio files need to be places specific in the sdcard/media/ringtones.
I go into my music press and hold an mp3 song you want at it says use as ringtone
dno if that helps
this works
look on the market for "ringtone maker" it is free and you browse for a song on your library and then crop it and you can either set it is notification ringtone or default call tone
As for the contact assignment i have not tried this but just had a quick look in my contacts and i cant see an option for it.
Ringdroid
I use and enjoy Ringdroid.
Ok, found that ringo pro can do the trick. I hope there is a free way.
