I Mate & Pharos GPS issues w/ Patch - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 Accessories

I am using an Imate ppc phone with Pharos IGPS-BT. Now that I am using your patch (Thanks!!!) I can connect to the Bluetooth device and recieve information. My dilema - there is an enormous delay. I can drive around the block pull in my garage and sit there and watch the gps map out the route which has just been taken. I have tried to use all 3 com ports that the patch allows and have the application and maps stored locally on the device. Any Ideas?

Using CoPilot with XDAII

has anyone in Australia got Copilot GPS bluetooth version to sucessfully work with their XDAII.
I can get mine to bond but not to pick up the GPS signal when in the copilot program. Any clues? ideas?
I have the latest ROM 1.60.00WWE and Radio 1.08.00
Cheers,
xda or xdaII
same problem with xda and cable GPS receiver, XDA will not recognise or open the com port for the receiver. No joy yet from Co-pilot tech support.

Guess I'm about to find out..
:? I just ordered Co-pilot for delivery monday. I have latest XDA Asia rom, also BT tools package loaded, and generally find most port openings and applications flakey. Apps crash, no GPS info displayed or satellite histograms. Monitor untilities go for a while and stop or crash.
I have used Navigator for a while from Magellan fails on BT, works on Com1 with wired GPS, but wanted to switch to co-pilot for much greater functionality.
I have Holux GR-230 GPS which canbe wired or BT, and a home buily GPS receiver based on a motorola module which has RS-232 conversion to connect to XDA-II via serial cable to com 1. This worked with NAvigator, Holux is problematic with Navigator.
Will advise here how I go..
Using Copilot with XDA II
I have been using Copilot version 4.0. You would need to install Tobias excellent utility which allows you to create a virtual serial port. You can download it from http://bluetooth.i-networx.de/index_e.html.
Install this utlity and it will allow you to open a serial com port from within the Copilot program. Copilot is quite cool! I use it to navigate my way around Sydney.
Hope this helps.

Grout, dont forget to disable IR beams rx settings for wired
Thanks raykan, I'm in the same position as you so should be ok when I get co-pilot.
As per the title, Grout if you have a wired GPS, you need to disable the XDA-II IR Beam tick box as it somehow shares resources with the hardware serial com port 1 and applications that try to open com port one fail to open the port.
I have had most success with wired GPS on COm port 1.
CHeers,
Success so far..
Well, I can't be an expert after one day, but for those wanting to know about XDA-II and Travroute Co-pilot Australian version here are a few things that may help...
1. It's more than 10 tims better functionality and reliability than the previous package I had from Magellan Perth call Navigator.
2. Very configurablem but I installed the SD card and right away the software installed itself from the card and I was running 5 minutes later. Definately a QUICKSTART. The CD allows you to recreate the card, install via activesync, and install on the PC desktop.
3. Works with my Holux GR-230 BT GPS (I use the excellent BT tools) on COM7. Also works on COM1 with my home made GPS via serial port.
4. The manual says the internet live function is extra cost, but it works fine. The desktop version can communicate via internet to the mobile via GPRS and show the location on a map for tracking, also you can send messages to the mobile including redirecting its route/destination and the mobile can accept or not. VERY GOOD.
5. Not sure of home much GPRS traffic is used as my GPRS cost tracking software does not register it in the reports. COuld be a setup problem.
6. I'm VERY impressed so far. Tracking with GPRS is very good.
No doubt I'll find more + or - but if you wonder if it works on XDA-II currend 1.6 WWE edition the answer is yes!
Cheers

how to share GPS via BT for two applications

Hi out there!
I'm using a bluetooth gps device on my HTC Prophet (XDA neo).
How can I run two applications in parallel using the gps data stream?

Andy
Here's the link where Xdaradar gave a very good description of how to do it:

I am also putting the actual text here for easy reference:
Virtual GPS port steady as a rock in this version
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Many thanks to Helmi-c to put in the tuma gpsid.dll and to spkr4thdd for his feedback. It's working excellent now. Started from scratch, so removed com-config in gps-applet, removed bt-paring and com-port in bt-applet.
This is what i did in the bt-applet:
- paired the bt-gps
- defined one outgoing port: com6
- gave it the speed 57600
This is what i did in the gps-applet:
- programport: com7
- hardwareport: com6
- recommended automation on
Then using it:
- define com7 in oziexplorer and startup: ozi will find&connect to br-gps
- startup &define "other gps device" with com7 in tomtom
- startup &define com7 in IGo
- startup &define com7 in Jeff Prestons mytrack
Driving my car for twice an hour and it work great, not one issue while all these programs were simultanious working an telling me where to go at the same time. Inbetween i got some mail notification, so GPRS and mail where active as well.
B.t.w. i uses pocket hack master to speedup things a bit and tomtom started in 13 seconds in stead of 35 seconds without pocket hack master.

I had tested with the above using 2 software I have, i.e. Mapking 7 and Agis Navigator 1.66 beta. It seems to work but I have not tried it while driving. Hope to test that in the next few days.

hi
you must name the gps "OTHER BLUETOOTH GPS"
when you sync it with the phone
it will work well with tomtom and other soft
I don,t know with tomtom but with Efficasoft GPS Utilities you must check in Menu->GPS Setup->AutoSearch Bluetooth GPS reciver, and see if there is your device, or choose manual your device.
After that don't forget to go to Menu->Start GPS

Good morning I have a probleme with Garmin XT and my HTC VOX it connect has my GPS but rest blocked on research satellite
install this cab and then try
View attachment enablegps.CAB
it has few registry tweaks enabling gps connection
this will help you connect
his step always not
I think your GPS programs might have been "fighting" for the GPS data or that it had bad epheremis data. It is recommended that with WM 6.1 and above to have the GPS "managed" by the system.
You do this by going from the Start Menu to Settings to System and select External GPS. Then you want to select the Port your programs will use to obtain GPS data. Normally the four lower ones were commonly used by most computer systems which is why I recommend selecting COM9 as the port.
On the Hardware tab, you need to identify which Port your GPS is on. I used GPSToggle, which is a Today plug-in, to start and warm up my GPS. You can read about GPSToggle here: http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-gps-toggle.html.
Download the CAB file which I recommend installing to your device internal memory. Then go to your Today screen and then to Settings menu followed by Today. On the Items check the box next to BAF GPS Toggle. Click okay and this will place GPSToggle on your Today screen.
Unfortunately most smartphones do not have dedicated GPS chips because they eat battery power. On a dedicated receiver like a Personal Navigation Assistant (handheld GPS aka PNA), the GPS is turned on automatically when the PNA is powered up. Depending upon when your GPS was last activated, a dedicated SIRF chip can go from cold-start to 3D fix in as little as 42 seconds and as long as three minutes if epheremis data is present and the GPS has not been moved more than 10 miles from its last power up.
For most smartphone users, the last time your GPS was fired up was when it was built in China or wherever. The GPS can retain that information as its old epheremis data which is used to communicate with satellites. If the data is bad and old, it can take much longer for your GPS to lock-on and get a 3D fix.
For this reason, it is recommended that on smartphones that a GPS utility like the ones mentioned above be used. In essence, the smartphone's GPS must be "warmed up" from a cold start state to warm state where it is communicating with satellites in resolving a 2D fix ultimately to hot state where 3D fixing is available.
GPSToggle on your Today screen will "warm up the GPS" for you when you turn it. You will then see bars indicating the number of satellites the GPS has found. Once it syncs with them, the bar will go solid. When four bars go solid, 3D fixing is available. At that point you could turn on your satnav program and should be good to go.
If you see the altitude and nothing else comes in then the BT connection is obviously ok, so pairing, establishing the connection via COM port and the program using the connection seems ok.
Your problem then is the GPS receiver not sending the data required.
Find a program that resets the GPS receiver, if you can remove the battery put it out for half a minute and reinsert it. Once the GPS has a satelite fix again it should deliver all data.
A good free powerful utility is SirfTech - obviously only useful if your BT Mouse has a SIRF chipset.

Hello, was enablegps.cab developed here on xda? If so, is there a thread on it?

[REQ] Use G1 as GPS Reciever for PC? Utilize NEMA output of GPS and redirect to PC.

Hello,
I did quite some searching on this topic but nothing to be found. Maybe some developers can shed some light on this issue?
Many developers have written excellent applications that take the GPS output of the phone and display your coordinates, altitude, speed, and other variables. Presumably, this information can be gathered without the need for a data application.
Now, let's say the data format that the GPS is outputted in (NEMA Standard) is slipstreamed consistently into a Maps application (like Microsoft Streets & Maps), then you would have a winner. The combination of preloaded maps with the power of the GPS receiver in the G1 would give you awesome maps functionality on the cheap (perfect for that Netbook).
However, much GPS status applications only display the output on screen. While it is nice to have a coordinate staring at you in the face, that's all it's doing. Instead, utilizing those NEMA values for the computer to interpret would simplify the process.
My friend and I proposed a couple of concepts on how to take this on:
1) Upload the NEMA data to a server
*Okay idea but defeats the purpose of going Data-less. I might as well use Google Maps
2) Upload the NEMA data to a local server
*Good idea but if the laptop is connected to an ad-hoc network or some weird [sic] network, the phone maybe unable to connect to the same network (i.e. business-style wifi logins)
3) Bluetooth. Beam data through OBEX file transfer or other method.
*Better idea but the implementation of bluetooth in Android does not currently support OBEX file transfers or other pairing mechanisms. Would this be possible to carry out?
4) Serial output via USB.
*Best idea. This would put the GPS receiver in tandem to the other devices.
So...any ideas? Would love to hear them. Are there people who could utilize such functionality for a netbook/laptop combination? Spill your comments, questions, concerns.
Developers, feel free to chime in at any time Thanks.

try BlueNMEA witch is avaible on the market, it send NMEA over bluetooth.
So does anyone use BlueNMEA and if so can you help set mine up. I cant seem to find any real documentation.
Are there any other options for utilizing the gps on a program like streets and trips?
Can anyone confirm blueNEMA and CM-4.1.9999?
Has anyone successfully gotten this blueNEMA working with a G1 + Bluetooth + Laptop and Streets and Trips?
Love to get this working too... I have the BlueNMEA installed, paird with my laptop over BT but I cant get MS Streets and Trips to see it, if I scan it doesnt see it either... weird.
Here's a bit of documentation I found: http://git.snow-crash.org/?p=blue-nmea.git;a=blob_plain;f=README
Sorry for the bump, but...
Is there any possibility of this ever working over USB rather than bluetooth?

htc magician WWE 05,64mb version help needed to get tomtom 7 to work with ext bt 541

Hi Mr Joe,
I've tried to use Tomtom 7 with wwe 03 and same problem.
The only way to use it that i've found is to download GPS proxy on this site :
http://sourceforge.net/projects/gpsproxy/
You had to add a outgoing port in your GPS BTH (port 6 by exemple)
With gps proxi , you've to create a virtual port 4 (automatically) and via the option, configure entry port 6 and outgoing port n° 4.
with tomtom, u choose port 4 for you GPS and it's works.
hi thank you for your swift reply
i tried as mentioned above and gps proxy says
the nmea input provider failed to start creatfile failed 55
lol still pulling hair out i must have spent about 60 hours searching forums and diffrent apps
after uninstalling gps proxy i reinstalled gps proxy to find error on screen saying i needed opennetcf.sdf.ppc.arm.cab im still searching for this file lol
every time i try install gps proxy it say you need blah blah file befor it will work i keep downloading these diffrent files and installing them then keep uninstalling gpsproxy 2.2. then again and again .......... im so frustrated all i want is tomtom 7 up and running with my gps device. is there anybody who has wwE 05 FOR 64MB DEVICE who has not had to spend approx 65 hours trying diffrent roms diffrent apps to get tomtom 7 working?????????????????anyone know what other files are needed in wwe 05 64 mb device to run gpsproxy????????????? anyone have a list or even a simply way?
OK I FOUND FILES HERE http://sourceforge.net/projects/gps...6/GPSProxy-1.6-ARMV4-NoInstaller.zip/download
I INSTALLED BUT I KEEP GETTING
THE NMEA IMPUT PROVIDER FAILED TO START: CREATFILE FAILED :55
ANYBODY ANY IDEAS?
STARTING TO THINK AM I JUST BEST TO INSTALL WM 2003
How can i close posts?
i tried this with gps proxy....
i have a bluetooth gps mouse from nokia...
model: ld 1w
I pair my magician with the mouse.....after that i set the gps mouse to comport 6.
Now i run gpsproxy and setup my device:
i add Virtual port com4
in nmea i use for incoming port 6
then i set outgoing port to port 4...
the i push start...
then come "fix typ: invalid"
any idea??
i found 'igo8' to work best on magician.
i use a blue-tooth gps, use standard gps port with the rom, done. no issues and quick.
i can still use my bluetooth car hands free at same time too.
(wwe rom 3.06)
I too have problems with my external GPS (sold under T-Mobile NaviGate Bluekit III mouse, but it's Leadtek under the hood) under WWE_O5 , but I think it's more related to the Bluetooth stack
here's what I did
-> add new device
-> Leadtek Bluetooth GPS shows up, next
-> Passcode is prompted, 0000, next
-> Device added, your pocket PC has connected with Bluetooth GPS
everything is fine up till this point, now the GPS shows up under "disconnected"
Now when I single tap it to turn on Serial Port, save and connect it say
CAnnot connect, your device did not connect With Leadtek Bluetooth GPS. The connection failed or the passcode is incorrect
I'm pretty sure it's not the GPS itself since it ran fine with the vanilla firmware
This is pretty much the only thing that keeps me from fully enjoying the rom, though
Hello
I'm in the same situation as you. I have tried a large number of settings to get TonTom/ to connect to my BT GPS ( I've tried Holux 236slim firmware 3.1.0, Holux236slim Firmware 3.1.1, Holux1000B). None of them are identified by TomTom. I have also tested a handfull of other GPS applications without any problems, they are running perfect. I,ve resetted all GPS's to factory basis, I've modified baudrates, S/N and so on without sucess. tested with and w/O WM "external GPS"-program. The "external GPS" does anyhow transfer the correct comport to Tomtom.
No sucess. No sucess.
By trying the other GPS alternativs inside Tomtom gps-configuration, I've ben able to for a second been capable to get the GPS signal.
-Something is wrong inside WM6.5 , S100 or Tomtom.
P-O
Edit
After first removing all setting for BT then removing the main battey, getting low capacity in back up battery, reinstalling BT-GPS ( Holux m1000b) i've got the Tontom to connect to the GPS. I've used the port (in Tomtom GPS konfiguration) given by the BT-setting, com 7 in my case. It failed when chozing the port given by the "external GPS#
The installation is not stable. after shutting down the S100 and restarted. It failed and I had to remove main battery again. Now its working.
I do not dare to test with another GPS yet.
P-O
Second edit
I have sucessfully connected all my GPS decvices. Anyhow the connection to Tomtom is more unstable on the magician then on my other phones (Wizard and Herald with WM6.1). Unstable in my case means: loss of connection, have to reinstall GP-device and reboot. Anyhow. I have beiing driving 400 km today without any problems.
